It makes perfect sense for OnePlus to merge its R&D resources with OPPO — the two entities already share manufacturing facilities.OnePlus started out over seven years ago, and in that time it has launched some of the best Android phones we've seen. Normally, it isn't feasible for a new entrant to gain momentum in the smartphone industry without significant capital, and even then there's no guarantee that things will work out — just look at Nextbit and Essential. In OnePlus' case, the company turned to OPPO from the very beginning for its manufacturing needs. While OnePlus dominates the mind share, its annual sales units are still around the 5-million figure. OPPO, meanwhile, has sold over 100 million phones in 2020 — or 20 times more than OnePlus. OnePlus has always relied on OPPO for manufacturing its phones. It is OPPO's scale that has allowed OnePlus to take on Xiaomi and Samsung in the mid-range segment. To this day, all OnePlus phones are manufactured at OPPO'...

The August 4th-generation Wi-Fi smart lock is down to $183.03 on Amazon. This smart lock has been selling for around $220 since late last year. It has never dropped below $200 on Amazon even for Black Friday. Home Depot has the next best price around at $211, but some retailers like Best Buy are still selling it for as much as $250, its MSRP.This is the latest and greatest from August, who has been making some of the best smart locks around for a long time now. The 4th-generation lock makes some very important improvements. For one thing, you no longer need the August Connect. This was a device that served as a bridge between the 3rd-gen smart lock and your Wi-Fi network. It was how you connected the lock to your smart home ecosystem and enabled voice control. Without it, the best you could do was control the lock with your phone. Now you can just do all of that right out of the box.Somehow, despite combining multiple devices into one, the 4th-gen smart lock also somehow manages ...

Chatting with the AC forums.Samsung's Galaxy S21 is a phone that has a lot going for it. Whether it be the Snapdragon 888 processor, upgraded cameras, lower prices compared to last year, or anything else in between, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about this latest batch of Galaxy S flagships. That said, there is one aspect of the S21 series that has ruffled some feathers: charging speeds. In a world where competing phones are offering 45W, 60W, and even 100W charge speeds, the Galaxy S21 being limited to just 25W does feel a bit archaic. There are plenty of options out there when it comes to the best Samsung Galaxy S21 chargers, but no matter which one you choose, you're still limited to max speeds of 25W.A few of our forum members recently got to talking about the topic, saying: fuzzylumpkin 01-19-2021 05:25 AM “ Honestly I just think Samsung are weird and/or cheap. They've alway...

Unlike the current Split Screen feature, App Pairs will allow you to group two apps together. Android 11's split screen feature lets you open two apps at the same time on your device. If a new report from 9to5Google is to be believed, Google is working on a revamped version of the feature for Android 12, called "App Pairs."The current split screen feature on Android 11 only pins the first app to the top of the screen, while allowing you to use another app on the bottom side. Google's upcoming "App Pairs" feature, however, will make it possible to group two apps together. This means you will be able t...

Less may be more, but more can also be less.Sometimes when we as tech journalists write opinion pieces, speculative essays, or the occasional hot-take, we necessarily do so before we've had the benefit of extended time with a device or service to reflect on our initial impressions and hands-on opportunities. It's not often that we have the time, or the opportunity, to revisit those early thought pieces. Oh, sure, we revisit big-ticket items and flagship devices like the OnePlus 8 Pro after six months or so, but that's certainly not true of most devices, apps, or services. At least, not for me.Since I am one of the people at AC who regularly uses Amazon Music as their primary streaming app, I thought it appropriate to revisit my earlier take when I said before that podcasts being stuffed into Amazon Music felt horribly unecessary. When I wrote those words, it did appear that Amazon stuffing even more features into its Music app was at best overkill and at worst a misguided directi...

Hitman 3 is a triumphant finale for Agent 47 that doesn't skip a beat in its cloud-based Stadia transition. There are few things in video games I'd consider as satisfying as slapping an NPC across the face with a floppy fish so hard that they're knocked unconscious. Luckily, this type of moment is the bread and butter of the Hitman trilogy and it's never been as entertaining as it is here in Hitman 3 on Stadia. The flexibility of playing a AAA production as polished as Hitman 3 on any device from your TV and computer to your tablet or phone still feels like magic. If you haven't played either of the previous two games you really should, if for no reason other than the fact that they're two of the best Stadia games. Play them for the gameplay though, not the story. As of the time of this review both Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 are included with a Stadia Pro subscription. At a glanceHitman 3 on Stadia ...
