Best answer: Even though the OnePlus 7 Pro is over a year old, it's tough to recommend everyone upgrade to the OnePlus 8 Pro. The 8 Pro does have better cameras, a better display, wireless charging, and 5G, but those are all marginal upgrades over what's still an excellent phone in 2020. And you'd be facing hundreds of dollars to upgrade, which just won't be worth it for many people.Mild upgrade: OnePlus 8 Pro ($900 at Amazon)What's the difference between the OnePlus 8 Pro and 7 Pro?The OnePlus 8 Pro follows a very similar mold to the 7 Pro, and upgrades in a handful of crucial areas. The first immediately noticeable change is the display, which is slightly larger but notably better in colors and brightness. It's also 120Hz, over the 7 Pro's 90Hz, for even smoother motion in everything you do on the phone. Yes, it's now marred by a small hole punch camera cutout, but chances are you could get over that. You get a lot of solid improvements in the 8 Pro, and no downsides....

Xiaomi's latest value flagship delivers an outstanding camera and the latest internal hardware.Xiaomi set its sights squarely on Samsung with the Mi 10 Pro, offering the same 108MP camera as the Galaxy S20 Ultra for several hundred dollars less. The Mi 10 Pro was proof that Xiaomi could deliver a camera that can hold up to the best that Android has to offer, and the premium design combined with 50W charging and 30W wireless charging made it one of the best phones I've used in 2020.Xiaomi is now launching new variants in its flagship series in the form of the Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro. While the naming suggests that these phones are upgraded models of the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro, that is not the case. The Mi 10T series does not supersede the Mi 10 lineup; if anything, it slots in at a lower price point. The Mi 10T Pro retains the same 108MP camera as the Mi 10 Pro and is powered by the same Snapdragon 865 chipset, but it switches to a LCD panel — albeit one with 144Hz refresh rate — ...

Thursday Night Football will be a tale of overcoming injuries. Both the 49ers and Packers, like a lot of teams this year, have faced an inordinate amount of sidelined players due to injuries. The question is which team can push through and relay on their second and third string to show up?On the Niners side, George Kittle and Jimmy Garoppolo are both out for Thursday. Garoppolo suffered an ankle sprain last week against the Seahawks which will take him out of the spotlight on Thursday, but it is unclear how much longer the injury will keep him from playing. It's likely the San Francisco quarterback has been hurt all along and has just been playing through the pain. Possibly more critical is the loss of Kittle for at least eight weeks with a broken bone in his foot. The Packers have a chance to capitalize if running back Aaron Jones and receiver Allen Lazard can be healthy enough for Thursday's matchup. Linebacker Christian Kirksey may also make it back too if Green Bay is lucky. T...

The date the Android platform was born — and the date that its developing consortium, the Open Handset Alliance was founded — was November 5, 2007, which means that now in 2020, An...

Here in Canada, finding the best Black Friday deals is just a bit easier than it can be elsewhere. We're seeing a much different Black Friday in 2020. If you are looking for an affordable, mid-range smartphone, we think the Google Pixel 4a is the best Android phone you can get for under $400. That's because it offers the same core experience as the higher-end Pixel 4 that preceded it. You get the same software and features and the exact same camera experience. The only shortcomings come in the hardware and a couple of the specs — a fine trade-off to save hundreds of dollars.Best Overall Android Phone Under $400: Google Pixel 4aThe Pixel 3a from 2019 stood out as one of the best Android values for well over a year, and to fill its impressive shoes, we now have the Pixel 4a. This is a terrible decision given the size of the PS5 SSD and how large games are.Sony has confirmed to The Verge that the PS5 will not support storage expansion at launch. Instead, this support will be "reserved for a future update," according to the company. We've known for some time that solid-state drive (SSD) compatibility on the PS5 was up in the air. As system architect Mark Cerny said in a tech breakdown, the internal SSD in the PS5 is so fast that not all NVMe M.2 SSDs will be able to keep up with it. It's a testament to what the engineers at Sony pulled off, but it makes it much harder for PlayStation fans to add some extra storage. Not supporting storage expansion at launch is a big mistake. The PS5 only comes with an 825GB internal SSD, a strange call considering the standard for storage has mostly become 1TB. For reference, a good chunk of this is usually dedicated to running the OS, so realistically you have less than 825GB of usable storage. Launch games for t...

Knocking gets more efficient for meeting organizers. What you need to knowGoogle is rolling out an update to Meet to improve knocks, a security feature to added earlier. It'll now let you bulk approve all knocks to speed up the process.Google also now lets change Meet backgrounds, just like Zoom.Google keeps on improving Meet, its flagship video conferencing service. On Wednesday, the company announced an improvement to knocks — a feature that does exactly what it says. If each Meet meeting can be said to be held in a room, "knocks" is lightly tapping on the door and asking to be let in. It's just the Googly term for requesting to join a meeting, in short. Of course, as more than one user can ask for entry at a time, it can get annoying if you're holding a large group meeting.Google is tweaking the interface for accepting requests in Meet so it's possible to accept multiple knocks. Here's how it'll look when it rolls out.Google's Workspace team explained: You can...

Adaptive triggers give you a level of immersion you didn't know you needed until you try it.Almost everyone who has touched the PS5 and the all-new DualSense controller is in love with it. And a big part of the reason why is what Sony has aptly named the "adaptive trigger" experience. It's a simple idea — use haptic feedback on a trigger that changes the level of resistance. It's also one of those great ideas that someone should have thought of long ago because it really does add immersion. Combine it with an all-new way to make the controller rumble and you are in award-winning territory when it comes to a game controller. You didn't know you needed resistance and feedback in your triggers until you tried it.The concept is a little hard to grasp. Like, why would I want the resistance on my triggers to ever change? I get that, but luckily there are a few games already set up to use them in really cool ways. Games like Fortnite use the new haptics to change the vibration b...

This year posed some very real hurdles for electronics makers but Samsung was able to power through.2020 has been a rough year for phone makers. Sales were down across the board because a lot of people have no disposable income but do already have a phone that still works. At the component level, the first half of 2020 forced companies to stop manufacturing the tiny parts that phones need to function properly. While every company was affected by the economy and sold fewer phones, Samsung seemingly found a way to get around it; a feat Apple wasn't even able to do and we saw the iPhone 12 launch a month later than previous years. Other companies fared much worse because of supply chain issues and Google's four-month late release of the Pixel 4a instantly comes to mind. Now we're finding out that the Galaxy S21 is launching even earlier than we expected and a January 14, 2021 announcement means Samsung is beating its 2020 date by six weeks. Talk about weathering the storm! Samsu...

Virtual private networks typically use dynamic internet protocol addresses due to factors like cost and efficiency, but these can be problematic because they're subject to change and allocated to all users. For anyone who wants their VPN to be as secure as possible and get the best possible online experience, there is an alternative to dynamic IP addresses: dedicated IP. This isn't unique and will also be allocated to anyone else accessing the same server.Dedicated IP add...
