The Pixel 5 is brimming with potential, and Google needs to make sure its upcoming flagship doesn't have any hardware defects. The Pixel 5 is launching on September 30, and we know a lot about Google's 2020 flagship. The phone will feature a 6-inch 90Hz FHD+ OLED display, dual rear cameras with a wide-angle lens, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, stereo speakers, wireless charging, and a 4000 mAh battery. But what's particularly interesting is that the Pixel 5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 765G — the same chipset as the OnePlus Nord and Motorola Edge — and not the flagship Snapdragon 865 like other 2020 flagships. We've seen that the Snapdragon 765G delivers incredible performance and has 5G connectivity, so it makes sense for Google to save some cash by opting to go with Qualcomm's mid-tier chipset instead of springing for the costlier Snapdragon 865.By offering the Snapdragon 765G, Google is looking to undercut its rivals by a significant margin. The latest leaks point t...

Chatting with the AC forums.Good biometrics are a key component of any smartphone. The importance of having a fingerprint sensor or face unlock system that you can rely on cannot be overstated, but even so, it's a feature that tends to be overlooked by things like the display, processor, cameras, etc.Fingerprint sensors, in particular, have changed a lot in recent years. We still have traditional capacitive sensors on the backs of some phones, but thanks to the constant reduction of bezels, in-screen sensors are just as common.A few of our AC forum members recently got to talking about in-screen fingerprint sensors (specifically, the one on the Galaxy Note 20), and this is what they had to say: trucksmoveamerica#AC 09-22-2020 03:25 PM “ Works great. Unlike diamonds, batteries aren't forever. Here's how to tell if yours is ready for a ride to the recycling center. You'll find plenty of online discussions, whether in forums or articles on websites like this one, about phone batteries. Almost all of them are about charging and stretching out the time between charging. That's vital information to know, but there is also another problem you might face, especially if you keep the same phone for a couple of years: batteries don't last forever.Phone batteries are complicatedWe've all either had to get a new battery for our car or know someone who has. Batteries are chemical power plants, and once they have reached a point where they can no longer build a charge through their chemical reaction, they turn into a container of semi-toxic and expensive materials that don't do anything. When that happens, you need to provide a new battery if you want to continue to use the things that it powers. And be sure to recycle your old one prop...

The "everything store" is trying too hard to make the everything app. After months of rumors and speculation, last week Amazon rolled out a new feature incorporating podcasts into its Amazon Music service and apps. This followed an announcement just a week or so prior that the company was featuring Twitch live streams in the music app as well. Greater choice and more options are generally seen as good things for the consumer, but upon hearing this I had to wonder: is this an example of giving customers everything but the kitchen sink, or is it more like throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks? If you've never used the service before, Amazon Music is somewhat of an umbrella term, encompassing several distinct services and tiers of streaming music available from Amazon. This includes Prime Music, which features millions of songs for Amazon Prime subscribers, and the company's Amazon Music Unlimited service, which is available with a free ad-supported tier, as well as ...

Best Buy's Black Friday sale is one of the biggest events on the shopping calendar and 2020's sale is fast approaching. Being one of the largest retailers in the country, Black Friday at Best Buy gives you the opportunity to snag deals on electronics and TVs, home appliances, toys, games, and much more.Given the current health crisis, Best Buy's Black Friday sale is likely to be very different this year with fewer "doorbuster" offers encouraging in-store crowds and much more online availability of promotions. In fact, Best Buy is giving its staff Thanlsgiving off this year to further discourage foot traffic.Don't see this news as a sign that Black Friday is being cancelled, though. The event is simply shifting its focus to online shoppers which is great for those that still want to make the most of the event while remaining safe at home, though possible shipping bottlenecks might mean you want to get your orders in sooner rather than later. Given the move away from a weekend-long...

The past year saw a few high-profile launches for the brand, but Oppo still has a way to go in terms of brand recognition and perception in Europe. So in 2020, the company has reorganized its often confusing collection of flagships, positioning the Find X line as its main high-end brand. The latest flagship, the Oppo Find X2 Pro, isn't an outlandish, borderline experimental device like the original Find X. Instead, Oppo's goal has just been to build a really solid, top-to-bottom Android flagship that ticks every possible box.And having spent some time getting to know the Find X2 Pro, it's clear to me that this is one of the best Android phones of the moment. At a glanceOppo Find X2 Pro ...

OnePlus's half-step upgrade to the 7 Pro doesn't change much, but then again, it really didn't need to.The OnePlus 7 series marked OnePlus's transition from plucky upstart to fully-fledged big-boy smartphone manufacturer, as underscored by the quality of its late-2019 model, the OnePlus 7T Pro.However, unlike the vanilla 7T, the OnePlus 7T Pro is a fairly conservative upgrade over its predecessor. OnePlus fans will recognize it as more of a 3 to 3T upgrade, as opposed to a 5 to 5T. If someone handed you both a OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro, you'd have to examine them in forensic detail to tell the difference.Nevertheless, that's more of a measure of how compelling the 7 Pro itself still is, rather than evidence a lack of ambition on the part of OnePlus. With the latest software upgrades, the OnePlus 7 Pro remains hugely competitive. So, take that phone and add in subtle camera, performance and battery improvements and you have yourself a worthy encore.Unfortunately, the phone isn'...

If you're thinking of leaving AT&T's prices behind but still like its coverage, then check out these alternative carriers. We've compiled the complete AT&T Wireless MVNO list so that you don't have to go searching all around the web for a great wireless deal. A mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) is an "alternative carrier" that leases network coverage from one of the large carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon). Much of the time, these carriers can offer cheaper service by targeting smaller markets or removing features that many people won't need. Thanks to the size and quality of AT&T's 3G and LTE network as well as its support for most unlocked phones, AT&T is an easy choice for an MVNO. Still, many of the best MVNOs use one of the other networks, or even multiple networks, and may be a better fit for you.You need to make sure that your phone has the following GSM bands to work with an AT&T-based MVNO. Alternatively, you can check your IMEI on the websit...

The company normally hosts its Prime Day event in mid-July, though this year things were delayed with the pandemic and everything else going on. That gives about two weeks between the announcements and Prime Day, which would mean we could see some significant discounts on the new hardware right after it becomes available.According to the report, Amazon ha...

Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy's Edge is the next VR-only Star Wars game from acclaimed developer ILMxLAB. As another Oculus-exclusive title, it's quickly becoming apparent that Oculus is the platform of choice when it comes to Star Wars VR games. Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy's Edge is an Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2-exclusive game and will not be coming to the Oculus Rift on PC due to Facebook sunsetting the Rift platform. That means that the Oculus Quest 2 will be the best way to experience the game when it comes out later this year.Oculus Studios and ILMxLAB have partnered with the same folks who crafted the Smuggler's Run attraction at Disneyworld and Disneyland's Galaxy's Edge theme park. Fifth time's the charm? If there's one way we could describe the Pixel 4, it would be "frustrating." All the Pixel 5 needs to do in order to be a great phone is to give us the same Pixel 4 experience, use a reasonably-sized battery, and add an ultra-wide camera. Is that what's happening?
