Having a chat with the AC forums. As time has gone on, there are certain smartphone features that have faded into existence. Removable batteries, IR blasters, and headphone jacks are all essentially extinct in 2020, despite being staple features just a few short years back.Another feature that's become less common over the years is expandable storage. There are still plenty of phones that support it, but other phone makers have been adamant about not including it on their devices. Some of our AC forum members recently started talking about whether or not they still use expandable storage here in 2020. This is what a few of them had to say: Laura Knotek 07-15-2020 10:11 PM “ I still do, even though my phone isn't close to being full. Reply Mike Dee 07-15-2020 10:52 PM “ I do even though I have pl...

The Pixel has always had its faults. 2020 is only exacerbating them.Being a user/fan of Google's Pixel phones is like being on a never-ending rollercoaster. The original Pixel debuted as this exciting new entry into the Android space, but ever since then, it's been an endless tradition of ups and downs. I'm someone that rocks a Pixel 4 XL as my daily Android phone, and as much as I love it as a standalone device, understanding and appreciating the Pixel in the bigger picture is rather challenging.Let's start with a little recap of how we got here and where we're heading. The regular Pixel 2 was a mostly great phone, but it was plagued by those hilariously large bezels that were outdated even by 2017 standards. You got much more reasonable bezels with the Pixel 2 XL, but it didn't matter given how poor its display was. Google offered substantially better AMOLED screens for the Pixel 3 series, but we also had to put up with weak battery life on the Pixel 3 and that absolutely disg...

The Android 11 update is filled with a few exciting features that make your phone more powerful than before, one of which is a screen recorder. This allows you to record a video of what you're doing on your phone, which can be a great tool for tech tips, troubleshooting, and more. Once you get the Android 11 update on your phone, here's how to use the screen recorder for yourself and make the most of it!How to use Screen Recorder in Android 11While screen recorders have existed on some Android phones before Android 11, this was based entirely on which company made your phone. For example, Samsung phones came with a screen recorder but ones from Google and Motorola did not.Android 11 makes this a system-wide feature across the board, so as long as you have Android 11, you can record your screen regardless of who made your phone. With that out of the way, here's what it looks like on a Pixel 4 XL running the Android 11 public beta!Swipe down from the top of your screen to acce...

Google's hardware team hits "I'm feeling lucky"Our collective journey of discovery around Google's 2020 Pixel phone lineup has been littered with false starts and red herrings. It's no secret that the Pixel line has had its issues over the years. Google often tripped up on basic hardware factors. Sales have failed to set the world alight. Recent reports have even suggested that the people at the very top weren't satisfied with parts of the Pixel 4 before it went on sale. And so with 2020 shaping up to be a make or break year for the Pixel brand, it's surprising to see Google apparently retreating from the high-end flagship space. Every mainline Pixel phone since 2016 has used a Snapdragon 800-series chipset. This year, reportedly, it'll use the less powerful (but still 5G-capable) Snapdragon 765 series in a single Pixel 5 phone, which will be small-sized, with no solid info to corroborate the existence of a Pixel 5 XL. Three Pixels. Two running a Snapdragon 765. And No XL?...

Ransomware is malicious software that can lock your computer and files while demanding a ransom be paid to unlock it. This sort of attack can be much more serious than a typical virus or malware attack because much of the time, you end up losing all of your files that weren't backed up. Ransomware can be especially hard to prevent because it typically comes disguised as another trusted file.Anti-ransomware software comes packed in with most antivirus or PC security packages including Windows Security. Anti-ransomware software needs to get very frequent updates to stay in front of threats.
