It's worth spending a little extra money on headsets to get a good pair.Given the basic form of a headset, you'd be surprised at how much they can all vary between brands and models. It's much more than just two simple earcups connected with a headband. There's a science behind it that makes them comfortable. And what's in the headset is just as important as what's on the outside. A good headset is the pinnacle of form meeting function.I've reviewed a few HyperX products previously, but this is the first headset I've tried out from the company. It also happens to be the first wireless headset I've used for any extended length of time. I honestly can't see myself going back to wired headsets now. I can't say how it stacks up against other wireless headsets, but I can surely say that regardless of its competition, the HyperX Cloud Flight S is an outstanding headset on its own.At a glanceHyperX Cloud Flight S ...

The X50 Pro 5G is Realme's most ambitious device yet, but you can't use its best feature in India.Usually when a new generation of wireless connectivity standard is introduced, it is the carriers that take the onus on the rollout. The upfront cost of installing new base stations and cell towers is usually recovered after a few years, and there's the added bonus of charging customers just that little bit extra for them to use the latest and greatest connectivity standards. It's a win-win situation. The opposite of that is playing out in India. Device vendors like Realme and iQOO are introducing handsets that offer 5G connectivity, but there's no 5G to speak of right now. The country is still several years away from offering 5G to consumers, and India's largest carriers have been hit with a massive fine by the telecom regulator that will undoubtedly delay the 5G rollout even further. So why are brands rolling out 5G-enabled phones in a country where there's no 5G? In one word, mark...

Can Huawei build a Google-free Android that people actually want to use?I've spent around 10 minutes with a Huawei Mate 30 Pro. I picked up a European friend's review unit, played around with the waterfall display a bit, hungrily took a few photos with its massive cameras, and swiped through an Android UI devoid of any Google services. I promptly returned it to the table. In contrast, I've spent around 10 months with the Huawei P30 Pro. It was one of my favorite phones of 2019; I used it exclusively on an overseas trip last summer, and it's since improved with EMUI 10 and Android 10. The biggest difference between the Huawei Mate 30 Pro and P30 Pro has nothing to do with sensors of silicon. There are significant hardware differences between these two phones, but the biggest has nothing to do with sensors or silicon, but a date. I use a Galaxy Fold every single day, and while it's a great phone, it's too big for most people. Like a lot of flagships, the Galaxy Fold pushes the boundaries of what is pocket-friendly, and it's a problem affecting more people with every launch, especially as phones like the Galaxy S20 Ultra feature even larger screens than before. Many of my friends lament the days of old where phones were smaller and fit in your pocket. It's not enabled by default, though, so even if you're on the latest build, you won't see the change unless you manually enable it.That's really easy to do, however. Just type in "chrome://flags" into the URL bar, and then search for the "Share button in the Top Toolbar" flag. Once you've f...

Best answer: Despite the Note 10+ using open standards for its 45W fast-charging, the only charger we can be sure will charge the phone at full speed is the official Samsung fast-charger. The PPS standard isn't included in many chargers right now, and many listings claiming to have PPS are inaccurate at the moment.Only sure bet: Samsung 45W USB-C Super Fast Charging Wall Charger ($39 at Amazon)On the go option: ELECJET PowerPie 20000mAh Power Bank ($60 at Amazon)Open standards aren't always easy standardsWhen Samsung said the Note 10+ was going to charge via USB Power Delivery, I was so happy, I could sing. PD chargers are everywhere these days, and I have them scattered about my apartment and gear bags so that it's easy to get a quick top-off. But then came the word that PD wasn't enough, and that Samsung had a number of requirements beyond Power Delivery:A 45W USB-C Power Delivery 3.0 charger that supports:PPS (Programmable Power Supply) — this is a subsection of P...

Indie developers make up a large portion of attendees and events at GDC.The Game Developers Conference (GDC) is going to have a few less companies this year. Both Sony and Facebook have announced that they've pulled out of the event, citing coronavirus concerns. This comes a couple of weeks after another major tech conference, Mobile World Congress (MWC), was canceled completely after companies backed out due to similar health concerns — even if the Spanish government denies this was the case.Though MWC won't have a show this year, GDC isn't going to face a similar fate. This is partially because while Sony and Facebook are big names, they aren't that important to the event.Another thing to keep in mind is that MCW was set to take place in Spain. GDC, while having a significant international audience with developers from all over the world, takes place in San Francisco. That MWC was based in Europe likely played a role in its cancelation as well.Whatever announcements had...

All it takes is a simple Google search. What you need to knowWhatsApp group chats may be far less private than one would imagine.Invite links for private WhatsApp groups can be easily found via a Google Search, meaning anyone could potentially join a private chat. The issue likely stems from a mistake on WhatsApp's part.A journalist for DW News this week tweeted out a grim warning: "Your WhatsApp groups may not be as secure as you think they are."The reason for his concern? Invite links for WhatsApp groups are being indexed by Google's search engine, meaning that if a link to your private group exists anywhere on the internet, anyone could potentially find the link and join your group with just a quick Google search.Your WhatsApp groups may not be as secure as you think they are.The "Invite to Group via Link" feature allows groups to be indexed by Google and they are generally available across the internet. The four big wireless service providers in the U.S. are AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon. Each one has its own unique set of deals and features, but these aren't the only options you have to choose from. Mobile Virtual Network Operators (or MVNOs for short) are other providers that harness the network of the Big Four carriers so you can still choose the one that has the best coverage in your area while having more flexibility over what you spend. When it comes to MVNOs powered by Verizon's network, Visible stands out as the best overall choice. However, it's far from the only one out there.Best Overall: VisibleVisible is the first, and one of the most unique, MVNOs on this list. Rather than going into a store to get started with your new phone service, everything with Visible is handled through its mobile app. This includes creating an account and paying your bill. There's just one plan to choose from at Visible, and it costs $40/month. For that price, you get unlimited...

Samsung is continuing its rollout of Android 10 for the S9, this time bringing it to the Verizon Wireless variant. The update began rolling out this week in the U.S. and joins AT&T who had rolled out the update earlier this year. With Android 10, users can expect to get Google's new features like gesture navigation, a system-wide dark mode as well as Samsung's own One UI 2 update which adds redesigned icons, smoother animations, and a native screen recorder. This will also likely be the last major update for the Galaxy S9 which launched with Android 8, going by previous update patterns and Samsung's 2 major update commitment. With Android 10 being the second up...

A few years ago, you wouldn't have found me lavishing praise on Samsung's software design team, but times have definitely changed.Samsung's new moon-shaped night mode indicator in its camera app.The company released One UI last year, and with it came not an overhaul of how the company approaches its Android design, but special attention to many of the little touches around the operating system that we as users tend to take for granted. It was in this context I was delighted by a change that Samsung made to its camera app in the Galaxy S20 series, specifically around the manual night mode feature. While we've already established that the quality of the phones' low-light photos is significantly better than on the Galaxy S10 models, the S20 also has a little animated flourish inside the shutter icon when the phone decides that it must spend a bit of extra time eking out as much light as possible from a dark scene. One thing that's interesting about this is that, like the iPhone 11...

See what we're getting out of that all-new camera array.Of all the improvements and changes on hand in the Galaxy S20 series, a complete overhaul of the camera system is one of the biggest. And for many of us, how well the new cameras perform will make or break our choice to buy one of the new phones. The Galaxy S20 Ultra has its own next-level improvements over the Galaxy S20 and S20+, making it even more appealing.I've been using the Galaxy S20 Ultra for a couple days now, and that means it's time to share the first photos I've taken with it — and some of my initial thoughts on how it's performing as well.Main cameraSamsung talked a big game about its new 108MP camera that uses 9-to-1 pixel binning to take 12MP photos with an absolutely massive effective pixel size. It should, theoretically, be Samsung's most capable camera ever.Be sure to click on each image to view at full size. In my initial time with the S20 Ultra, I can tell that Samsung hasn't changed the "loo...

Best answer: Yes. The PlayStation 5 can play PlayStation 4 games, including VR titles. It is, however, unlikely that it is backward compatible with any other PlayStation consoles.Stock up on games: PlayStation Store gift card (From $10 at Amazon)One of the PS4's best: God of War ($11 at Amazon)Can the PS5 play older games? The PlayStation 5 (PS5) will be backward compatible with the PlayStation 4 (PS4), so you don't need to worry about losing access to your collection of PS4 games. This includes VR titles since the PlayStation VR (PSVR) is confirmed to work with the PS5. Your saves will also transfer over, as Sony has given an example of someone starting a game on PS4, moving to PS5, then back to PS4 again all on the same save game. What about much older games? While many are hoping for PlayStation, PlayStation 2 or PlayStation 3 (PS3) games to be supported on the PS5, it's not very likely. The custom CELL architecture of the PS3 provides a particularly difficult obstacle t...

These have come in various forms, such as squeezable frames, dedicated buttons, double-tapping the display, motion sensors, and more. Now, with the release of the first developer preview of Android 11, a new gesture has been uncovered hidden in the code.During their digging, XDA-Developers came across the new gesture code-named "Columbus," which allows you to double-tap the back of the phone to perform an action. 120Hz displays are in, the headphone jack is out.Every year sees a heap of various Android phones released into the market. Some are good, some are bad. Some are really exciting, whereas others are a bit boring. Among all of the handsets to come out during a given year, one release that's continually met with a lot of excitement and fanfare is Samsung's Galaxy S series. One could argue that Galaxy S phones aren't always the most interesting, but there's no denying how much more attention they get compared to much of the competition. For 2020, Samsung is launching a trio of phones with the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra. These are very technically impressive gadgets with high prices to match, and if you can afford what Samsung is asking for the phones, they're bound to be some of the best the Android landscape sees all year. From hands-on coverage, detailed specs, accessory recommendations, and so much more, here's absolutely everything you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy ...
