The PlayStation 5 is shaping up to be an incredibly powerful console the likes of which we have never seen before.Sony's next-generation console, likely to be named the PlayStation 5, is far from gracing store shelves, but the company has revealed a few of its specs to give fans a taste of just how powerful it will be. An inexpensive phone that's easy to like but hard to love.As we broach the new decade, buying a smartphone has become somewhat of a fraught experience. Depending on your home market, it's relatively easy to walk into a carrier store and leave equipped with a $1000+ phone that didn't cost anything upfront. It masks the true cost of the device through two or more years of monthly payments, similar to a loan. But that phone still costs what it costs, and it's overkill for those who just want something that works. Thankfully, we're well past the point where a $250 phone "just works" — the Nokia 6.2, the latest in the Finnish upstart's line of Android One-powered budget devices, brings a relatively sharp knife to the gunfight of smartphone competition, and it manages to walk away with a few well-earned jabs. This company you've probably never heard of just made a massive push into Wear OS, and it's honestly pretty exciting. If you've never heard the name Suunto before, you are forgiven. Outside of a slowly growing niche of fitness folks, it's not exactly a household name. But this small company has been making excellent fitness trackers, by which I mean real actual fitness tracking and not that sad joke we call fitness tracking from Fitbit, for many years now. These weren't built to be stylish or small, but they were designed to work damn near anywhere and give you a ton of useful data in the process. My biggest complaint about the platform, the reason I don't wear a Suunto watch every day? They're unfortunately not very good smartwatches. At least until today, when Suunto and Google announced a huge partnership for the new 7-series watch running Wear OS. At first glance, this looks like another sporty, sort of bulky Wear OS watch. The UI is very much what you'd expect of ...

This is the top-tier Chromebook Google's putting its support behind in 2020.Samsung certainly isn't the biggest player in Chromebooks, considering it has released so few models, but it still manages to release laptops with the operating system relatively frequently. And starting at $1000, Samsung has it priced to match — but for that money you're getting a whole lot. As expected, Samsung nails it with the display; the 13.3-inch panel is the first 4K AMOLED screen in a Chromebook, and it looks wonderful. It's bordered by sub-4 mm bezels, is a touch screen and also works with a stylus that silos in the side of the laptop. There's no question about it: this is Samsung's best-ever C...

There's no way around it, my kid is a runner. It took me a while to come to terms with it but it's true. We legitimately had a hard time playing outside when he was younger because any time we took our eyes off him he'd be instantly dashing across the yard or out into the street without a second thought. Other activities like hiking or going to the park were a chore as well because the same thing happened — he disappeared in an instant and we have to run after and figure out where he went. Seriously.Thankfully he's gotten better with age, but for a few years now I've been trying to find a solution to keep track of him when we're out (I'm not a bad parent, I swear). I'm not a big fan of kid leashes (whether they work or not) and knew that there must be some sort of tech solution that would serve me much better.I explored Bluetooth trackers for a while, did tons of research and tried a few out, but most of those have laggy ping times, clunky hardware or apps, bad battery life or ...

I love my Sonos speakers, but this is getting ridiculous.I bought a lot of tech in 2019, but looking back on the year, one of the things that stands out the most to me is that it's the year I finally purchased Sonos speakers. There will never be any such thing as a perfect gadget. There's always going to be some sort of flaw, missed feature, or a design choice not everyone is a fan of. I get that, I really do. However, the lack of Chromecast support on any of Sonos's speakers is downright baffling and something that's starting to get on my nerves.Especially with the Sonos One and Sonos Beam, these speakers are so great because...

Jabra's also launching MySound to allow for more personalized listening experiences. What you need to knowThe Jabra Elite Active 75t is a new take on the already-excellent true wireless earbuds.Jabra is promoting better durability with the Active model, along with it being 22% smaller than the Elite Active 65t.In Q2 2020, Jabra MySound is launching as a new software experience for optimizing Jabra audio products for people's individual ears.I've written many times about how it wasn't the AirPods that turned me into a true wireless earbud fanatic, but the Jabra Elite 65t. That relegation didn't happen until January 2019, months after the product was released too much acclaim. At the time, I still vacillated between form factors for specific tasks: AirPods for listening to podcasts and phone calls while walking the dog (read: casual listening), neckbuds like the OnePlus Bullets Wireless for music listening on the go, and noise-canceling wireless headphones for commuting and fl...

If you're buying a drone for a kid — or really anyone who has never owned or flown a drone before — there are a few considerations you want to keep in mind: cost, size, range, and durability. If you're buying for a young one, you'll definitely want to keep the first three down, but that will invariably also affect the drone's durability as well. Its SmartCast user interface also gets a major update, and new soundbars are here, too.Vizio today at CES in Las Vegas has unveiled a massive upgrade to its television lineup for 2020. New sets. Bigger sets than it's done before. Its first OLED set. Sets with newer, faster processing across the board. And that's just for starters. Here's how to look at things: Vizio is still going with its "V-Series," "M-Series," and "P-Series" televisions, with the former focused more on affordability, and the latter on performance. In other words, V is good. M is better, and P is best. The M- and P-Series sets also get the "Quantum" designation because they employ Quantum Dot technology, which is better than not having it.And to separate things out a little further, we now have an array of P-Series Quantum X televisions, in 65-, 75- and — in a first for Vizio — 85-inch flavors. And to separate things out even further, Vizio also is rolling out its first OLED televisions — basically ...

The start of a new year — or indeed a new decade — is a natural point to take a breather and consider how far we've come, and what lies ahead in the following months. The 2010s' saw smartphones dominate the consumer tech space, with fortunes made and lost in the process. And although critics have repeatedly said that phones as we know them have plateaued, this space remains highly competitive and exciting. So on this first Sunday of the 2020s, I'd like to offer a few thoughts on where we're headed through the next twelve months. You still won't need 5G5G networks are currently split between early mmWave offerings, which need signal maps measured in fractions of a city block to identify areas of coverage, and early sub-6GHz networks, which match the best-case-scenario speeds for strong LTE coverage areas.5G will be exciting once these two coalesce to give us reliable, multi-hundred-megabit speeds everywhere. But we're not there yet, and I'm betting we still won't be by the e...

Time to work on those pearly whites. The Oral-B White Pro 1000 power rechargeable electric toothbrush is down to $34.94 when you clip the $5 off on-page coupon at Amazon. That's also thanks to a price drop to $40 since the Oral-B 1000 normally sells for around $50 or more. We have seen it drop as low as $30 in the past, but this price is almost as good as that. The Oral-B Pro uses 3D Cleaning Action, which oscillates, rotates, and pulses while you brush. This tech helps break up and remove 300% more plaque than regular brushing. It's not just about getting a toothbrush that brushes for you, it's actually about getting a better clean every time. You'll actually improve your teeth more than you thought you could. The toothbrush also has a pressure sensor built into it, which stops the pulsating and other features when you start pressing too hard.
