Microsoft Tools Group Adopts Open Floor Plan
One of the perks for working at Microsoft used to be that engineers with seniority would have private offices . As the 'cool' companies increasingly adopt open floor plans to facilitate face-to-face interactions, this tradition appears to be heading to the Recycle Bin; for example, the building in Microsoft's Redmond campus occupied by Visual Studio devs has been recently remodeled to eliminate most offices and cubicles. Separately, Intel (once a notorious cube farm company) appears to be moving in the same direction. Apparently nobody under age twenty-eight noticed any changes.
