Car dobs in driver for hit and run

A woman driving a Ford Focus was surprised to find that her car had automatically called emergency services after an accident. The driver initialy denied being in an accident. From the report the driver was quite surprised that her car alerted the authorities to the accident. Are we now living in an age where our devices report us whether we want them to or not?
