King County Metro is seeking highly motivated, detail-oriented individuals to join King County Metro Transit's Speed and Reliability unit to fill Engineer II or III positions. This position represents Metro on technical matters pertaining to transit planning, capital project development, transportation engineering solutions, and traffic operation analysis.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of traffic engineering principles and is great at problem solving. We are looking for individuals who are detail- oriented and results driven who can work collaboratively with others across the organization and comfortably in a team environment. Project management skills and experience are a plus. Job Duties

The Engineer II provides technical support and expertise in transportation engineering disciplines and applies concepts and techniques to unconventional engineering problems. They conduct field observation, identify problem, develop project approach, and work with consultant to develop a scope of work for analysis. Review and negotiate consultant work orders and deliverables and prepare recommendations to management for implementation.

In addition to the above Engineer II duties, the Engineer III will carry out complex or novel assignments requiring diversified knowledge of traffic engineering and/or planning principles and practices in broad areas of assignments. They review traffic modeling and simulation studies using traffic simulation and travel demand modeling software and use the analysis results to lead the development of transit preferential improvements and low cost operational improvements.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, urban planning, public administration, geography, or a closely related field with 3 (6 years for Engineer III) years of professional experience in transportation planning/or traffic engineering; OR an equivalent of at least 7 years (10 years for Engineer III) of professional experience in transportation planning and traffic engineering is required.
