After 14 years of development, Lockheed Martin Corp.'s Autonomous Mobility Applique System, a kit that allows vehicles and convoys to operate with little or no human input, is a strong candidate for rapid fielding.

Lockheed's vehicle autonomy kit has been installed on more than nine vehicle types, and the AMAS system has completed more than 55,000 hours of road time.

This summer the AMAS system will feature in Army warfighting experiments, giving soldiers the opportunity to evaluate the technology in the field during normal training scenarios. If all goes well then 100 units to 200 units could be put into the field.
