Labour will win argument on borrowing to invest, says John McDonnell
In an interview with the Guardian, the shadow chancellor attacks the belief that 'government borrowing is akin to burning money'
John McDonnell has said Labour will win the argument for more borrowing for investment, saying the Conservatives and much of the media has failed to engage with the arguments for government spending.
The shadow chancellor also attacked "media outriders using trite journalistic tactics" in an article in the Guardian, after a series of interviews where he said he would not engage with how much extra it would cost to service public debt under Labour.
