slackware-current root partition backup reccomendations

I'm running two years old slackware-current server headless.
I want to create a backup of a rw mounted root partition on a remote machine before complete upgrade.

On that machine is a KDE4 accessible with VNC and also ssh access.
Considered qt-fsarchiver, but had problems to compile/install since there is no slackbuild script for it. Anybody installed and used it on a Slackware?
What are other options?
Wish a complete partition backup with boot sector, exclude some folders and possibly compress option and network support (NFS).latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=yw4yal4dxYc:BlYZ7oh-IDw:F7zBnMy latest?i=yw4yal4dxYc:BlYZ7oh-IDw:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=yw4yal4dxYc:BlYZ7oh-IDw:gIN9vFwyw4yal4dxYc
