The Aboriginal flag will permanently replace the state flag of New South Wales on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, as the government abandons plans to install an expensive new flagpole.

The premier, Dominic Perrottet, on Sunday confirmed the change to the Sydney Morning Herald, labelling it a practical and pragmatic solution which makes sense".
