Liz Truss’s justice secretary urged to meet striking criminal barristers

CBA chair called on lord chancellor to hold talks in bid to resolve 22-week-long industrial action

The leader of criminal barristers on strike in England and Wales has urged Liz Truss's lord chancellor to hold urgent talks to resolve the dispute over legal aid fees.

The Criminal Bar Association (CBA) has been angered by the refusal of the justice secretary, Dominic Raab, to meet with them since industrial action began in April. Its chair, Kirsty Brimelow, said it should be the immediate priority of his successor if he is replaced in the new prime minister's cabinet.
