Forensic DNA test threshold lowered partly to cut costs, Queensland inquiry hears

Commission of inquiry hears changes to thresholds were proposed in 2017 to increase testing speed and free up money

Changes to DNA threshold limits at Queensland's troubled forensic laboratory were introduced in part to save the laboratory time and money, a public inquiry has heard.

This came after the inquiry, headed by Walter Sofronoff KC, delivered an interim report last week that identified serious shortfalls in testing thresholds.
