Russian anti-war candidate Boris Nadezhdin barred from election

Boris Nadezhdin says central election commission has refused to register him as a candidate

Russia's electoral authority has banned an anti-war candidate who gathered unexpected momentum from running against Vladimir Putin in the carefully managed presidential elections in March.

The central elections commission (CEC) said it had found irregularities" in over 9,000 of more than 100,000 signatures of support submitted by Boris Nadezhdin.
