Poland takes ‘first step’ in relaxing strict abortion rules after key vote - Europe live

Polish MPs vote in favour of sending all four bills to special commission as campaigners call it good news for Polish women'

The Polish parliament has voted in favour of sending all four bills on abortion to a special commission.

Two of the bills are aimed at legalising abortion up to the 12th week of pregnancy and another is focused on decriminalisation. The fourth, introduced by the conservative Third Way alliance, seeks a return to strict 1993 laws.
