Artists often search for beauty in tragedy. Musician Valeria Castro is no exception.
She grew up in the shadow of an active volcano on the island of La Palma, in the Canary Islands. When the volcano erupted in September 2021, it lasted for 85 days. No one was killed, but as The World's April Peavey reported this spring, a thousand homes were destroyed, including places Castro knew very well.
