Government acts on longstanding recommendations from Brereton inquiry into ADF conduct in Afghanistan

The Australian government has decided to cancel the awards and honours of a small group of former military officers who held command positions at the time that others under their command were accused of war crimes.

The defence minister, Richard Marles, gave an update to parliament on Thursday on the government's progress in acting on the longstanding recommendations from the Brereton inquiry into alleged war crimes in Afghanistan.
