Join us for Seattle Transit Trivia on August 24!
Pierce Transit Route 500 bus manually edited to show 500000 comments!" on the headsign. Earlier today, Brent White wrote the 500,000th comment on a Seattle Transit Blog article. Seattle Transit Blog wouldn't be the same without you: our readers and commenters. Thank you for reading and discussing the latest transit news, route proposals, and ridership data with us since 2007. To celebrate this milestone and the incredible community that made it possible, we are hosting Seattle Transit Trivia next Monday, August 24. Join us to show off your local transit knowledge and for a chance to win one of the prizes. The details, rules, and helpful tips are outlined below.
Trivia StructureSeattle Transit Trivia will include three rounds of 13 questions. Each round will be harder than the last, so the point values per question will increase. Once a round begins, you may submit one answer per question until 10pm. Answers submitted after 10pm will not be considered.
- Round 1: Posted on Monday at 10am, each question worth 1 point.
- Round 2: Posted on Monday at 12pm (noon), each question worth 2 points.
- Round 3: Posted on Monday at 2pm, each question worth 3 points.
To answer a question, simply leave a comment with your answer on the article for that round. The first person to provide the correct answer for each question will win the point(s). A few details to keep in mind:
- Answer by writing a top-level comment with the question number and your answer. Replies to other comments will not be considered.
- Use a separate comment for the answer to each question.
- Only answer each question once. Questions do not have to be answered in order.
- Use the same name and email for each answer (that is how we will track total points for each person). Please use a valid email as we will reach out to the winners via the email to arrange the prizes.
- This trivia is open-book. Feel free to use any resources to answer the questions. We asked ChatGPT these questions and it only answered 7 out of 39 correctly.
Each question will indicate the type of answer expected. Note the following guidelines for each answer type:
- Date: Please use the month/day/year format or write out the full answer. If no one get the exact correct answer, we will accept the closest date either before or after the event.
- Route: Please include the agency with route (eg: Community Transit 117 or CT 117). This is not needed if the question specifically asks about routes for a given agency. (eg: Which Pierce Transit routes..."). Agency name abbreviations are acceptable (KCM, CT, PT, ST, KT, WSF, ET). For ferry routes, please specify the two terminal stations (eg: Seattle - Bainbridge)
- Stop: Please answer with the stop id or location and direction (eg: 12770 or 23rd & Cherry, southbound). For Link stations, please clearly indicate the intended station (exact name is not required).
- Number: If no one gets the exact correct answer, we will accept the closest answer without going over.
- Vehicle: For questions that ask about a specific vehicle, please use the vehicle name (ferry) or id (buses and trains).
- Order: Provide a comma separated list that includes each option mentioned in the question. The options in the question are listed in alphabetical order.
Let us know in the comments below if you have any questions about the rules, answer formats, or anything else.
