Top-rated Chinese TV series depicts espionage against Taiwan

Dismissed in Taiwan as propaganda, the Chinese television spy drama Jiaofeng," or The Long Watch," has proved a sensation across the strait with its references to real-life political crises. Since its premiere on Sept. 6, it has become a huge hit, with a fictionalized take on a subject rarely treated so directly: the modern history of spies and double agents across two decades of tensions with Taiwan. The series, which received support from China's ministry of state security, will run for 40 episodes. From Taipei, Ashish Valentine reports.
