The Playboy millionaire in charge of a mercenary force
The Russian mercenary group known as Wagner Group gained notoriety during Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and expanded operations across West and Central Africa. But then in 2023, Wagner's leader Yevgeny Progozhin, after leading a failed military coup against Moscow, mysteriously died in a plane crash. Most of the Wagner troops were incorporated into the Russian security and intelligence forces, except in the Central African Republic, where Wagner Group continues its work under the leadership of Prigozhin's son, Pavel. Host Carolyn Beeler is joined by Wall Street Journal reporter Nicholas Bariyo, who spoke about his recent investigation, The Playboy Who Inherited the World's Most Notorious Mercenary Force."
