Australian shares set to open higher on Monday after surge in base metal price

Oil price rose 4% after Australian market shut on Friday, while gold and iron ore both lifted by about 1% and Wall Street closed higher

The Australian share market is expected to open up to 40 points higher on Monday on the back of strong surges in oil and base metal prices.

And all eyes will be on interest rate signals at home and abroad over the coming week.
