Gerard Gallant was not stranded after being fired by the Florida Panthers on Sunday.

That's what Panthers co-owner Doug Cifu maintains, at least, after a bevy of photos emerged of Gallant waiting for a taxi outside PNC Arena in Raleigh after being let go.

@jawsaholic @CruisingRay you really think we didn't offer to pay for a car? We bought an airline to fly the team...it was his choice guys.

General manager - and now interim head coach - Tom Rowe added the following during a conference call Monday:

Rowe on Gallant at the curb: "We wanted to get Gerard away from the locker room. The optics, we handled as best we could given situation."

That's one mystery from Sunday's bizarre chain of events surrounding this team that can apparently be put to rest.
