One of the privileges of my trade is that the best seminars often take place in the best places. I no longer attend the Davos World Economic Forum but last weekend marked the 25th annual seminar for British and Italian journalists hosted by the Italian government in - well, Venice.
Before I left, several people asked why I was going, because pictures of Venice under water had been flashed around the world. "Climate change, global warming" seemed to be the general verdict.
