A Message from Lowering the Bar Regarding the Coronavirus
Dear reader (hereinafter "You"):
As You may have noticed, given the ongoing concern about the SARS-C0V-2 betacoronavirus (hereinafter "coronavirus") and the disease it causes (hereinafter "COVID-19"), many businesses have been sending emails to their customers passing on information and explaining the steps they are taking in response to the crisis. We (hereinafter "We" or "I," because I'm the only one here) understand the concern and uncertainty You may be experiencing with regard to this rapidly evolving situation.
I and/or We wanted to personally reach out and share what We are doing here at Lowering the Bar to address the problem.
- Nothing.
- Well, nothing that directly affects You, anyway.
- We are, of course, doing things in the real world to protect Ourselves and others, such as staying home as much as possible, avoiding crowds, disinfecting frequently touched surfaces, washing Our hands often, trying to avoid touching Our faces, trying to avoid touching other people's faces, and not going near anything that even looks like a coronavirus (see above). It would be stupid not to do those things.
- It's just that none of this really has anything to do with Your use of Lowering the Bar, because Lowering the Bar is a website on the internet. Contrary to what You may have heard in certain press conferences, You cannot get the coronavirus through the internet.
- I have, however, cleaned and sanitized My keyboard out of an abundance of caution.
- Future operations here will of course be affected by the ongoing situation. In the short term, there may be more words here than there would otherwise have been, as the general slowdown in the economy affects the practice of law. On the other hand, the availability of media and gaming software via digital download may significantly affect operations during this period of crisis.
- We understand that there may be instances where readers may find themselves facing financial difficulties. Partly for that reason, Lowering the Bar is offering its coronavirus coverage to the public free of charge.
- That Lowering the Bar offers all its coverage to the public free of charge to begin with should not reduce the amount of credit it receives for its willingness to serve the community in this way.
Stay safe.
Sincerely,
Kevin
