An 86-year-old Hamilton man has died of his injuries after being hit crossing Queenston Road earlier this week.

Hamilton police said they were made aware Friday morning that the man died in hospital. His name has not been released.

His death marks the 13th traffic fatality in Hamilton this year and fourth pedestrian killed.

The 86-year-old was struck around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, as he was attempting to cross to the north side of Queenston, just west of Parkdale Avenue, police said.

He was hit by a westbound vehicle. The driver immediately stopped, contacted police and has been co-operative with investigators.

Speed and driver impairment were not factors in the crash, police said.

The investigation by the collision reconstruction unit is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-546-4753 or 905-546-4755.

To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestoppershamilton.com.
