If UK authorises vaccinations for those aged 16-17 it will bring it more into line with US and others

Reports suggest the UK's Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation will soon authorise Covid jabs for 16- and 17-year olds, while continuing to limit shots for 12- to 15-year-olds to the clinically vulnerable or those living with people at risk.

The move will bring Britain more in line with the US and many other European countries, several of which have gone further by opening up vaccinations to all over-12s and already hitting first-jab rates of 40% or more, although some others are more cautious.
