The son of murdered Melbourne woman Maria James has blasted a series of police errors he believes allowed her killer to escape justice 40 years ago.
Mark James on Wednesday described his mother, who was stabbed 68 times in June 1980 at her Thornbury home and bookshop, as a kind and protective woman.
