National cabinet has committed nearly $1.5bn in new funding to overhaul Medicare, as part of a $2.2bn health plan to boost the number of nurses, increase after-hours care and expand the roles of pharmacists and paramedics.
At a national cabinet meeting in Brisbane on Friday, federal and state leaders also committed to developing plans to strengthen the rights of renters and to boost property supply and affordability, in a bid to address the nation's housing crisis and win support for the Albanese government's signature housing policy.
