EU makes it official: mobile devices to have user-replaceable batteries by 2027
A few weeks ago we reported that the European Union wanted to force device makers to make batteries user-replaceable, and today it's been confirmed and made official.
The regulation provides that by 2027 portable batteries incorporated into appliances should beremovable and replaceableby the end-user, leaving sufficient time for operators to adapt the design of their products to this requirement. This is an important provision for consumers. Light means of transport batteries will need to be replaceable by an independent professional.
Excellent.
