Founder of London restaurants and award-winning author, who was at forefront of small plates' movement, died after short illness
Russell Norman, the award-winning restaurateur and author, has died after a short illness, aged 57.
A former English teacher, Norman founded the Italian restaurant Brutto and co-founded Polpo and Spuntino in London. His first cookbook, Polpo: a Venetian Cookbook (of Sorts) won the inaugural Waterstones book of the year in 2012.
