Hundreds of schools in Scotland have been closed, some for a fourth day, due to heavy snow amid weather warnings across many parts of the UK.
Much of Britain endured temperatures below freezing overnight on Wednesday, with preliminary data from the Met Office indicating the mercury fell to -13.6C at Tulloch Bridge in the Highlands, and as low as -11C in England.
