The near-identical prices charged at Coles and Woolworths raise competition concerns, the agricultural sector has said, as scrutiny of the major chains intensifies after the release of government-funded grocery comparisons.
Research by consumer group Choice found there was less than a one dollar price difference in a basket of groceries, containing 14 common items including apples, bread, milk and cheese, bought at both supermarkets.
