It's Hello Kitty's world, we're just living in it

Fans of Hello Kitty might be drawn to the simple lines of the cartoon, or the "cute" style of Japanese culture. Leslie Bow takes the conversation much deeper. When Hello Kitty had her 50th birthday in Fall 2024, Host Carolyn Beeler talked to Bow about Hello Kitty's global fame and the meaning of the "Kawaii" style. Bow is a professor of English and Asian American Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
