Early Wednesday morning, one of the biggest earthquakes ever recorded hit Russia's east coast, sparking tsunami warnings as far away as Alaska and Hawaii. Close by in Japan, the 8.8-magnitude quake triggered emergency sirens and memories of the devastating 2011 tsunami.
