Former residential school reopens as historic site after multi-million dollar, decade-long renovation

The Mohawk Institute was the longest-running and largest residential school in Canada. Over some 140 years, an estimated 15,000 children attended the school in southern Ontario before it closed its doors in 1970. Today, on the country's National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the former school building is reopening as a historic site and museum to share the stories of survivors.
