Niagara councillor says public health should help oversee redevelopment of contaminated former GM site

Niagara Region's public health department must be formally involved in the environmental assessment, cleanup and redevelopment at the former General Motors property on Ontario Street in St. Catharines, says a regional councillor from that city. Haley Bateman plans to bring a motion requiring public health's environmental division to ensure the old industrial site is being redeveloped responsibly.
