This time around, you'll be chased by more than just raptors. At the very tail-end of 2020, Oculus Studios released one of my favorite VR games of the year, Jurassic World Aftermath. While the game wasn't without its faults, it was one of the strongest examples of a game that makes the most sense in VR. After all, hiding from dinosaurs — just raptors in the first game — is absolutely terrifying and wouldn't give you that sense of terror without being in the world.Nine months later, developer Coatsink delivered Jurassic World Aftermath Part 2, the direct follow-up to the cliffhanger ending of the first part. Instead of being a free addition, Coatsink is charging $15 for the game — a $10 price reduction over part 1 — much to the chagrin of some players who didn't notice the buy button for the expansion pass upon the original's release. In part 2, you'll not only complete the story that began with you unceremoniously crashing onto Isla Nublar, but you'll also encounter more ...

The Google Pixel 5 is the best Android phone when it comes to security. Google builds its phones to be secure from the start, and its monthly security patches guarantee you won't be left behind on future exploits. Some of the most secure Android phones available to date are on this list to keep your mind at ease while staying safely connected.Best overall: Google Pixel 5The Pixel 5 is updated directly from Google with the latest version of Android. Outside of any new features that may come with it, the device security model has been updated and strengthened by a dedicated team that regularly audits and enhances the code used to build Android. On top of this, Google releases updates to the security model at the beginning of every month for the people who build Android phones to apply to its software. These are important, direr than any other update.Equally necessary but often overlooked is transparency. You shouldn't have to trust a company when it says something is secure o...

The Flex 5i is a dark mirror reflection without the homicidal tendencies.Lenovo makes some of the best Chromebooks around, from the compact companion Lenovo Chromebook Duet to the ruggedly handsome ThinkPad C13 Yoga Chromebook. However, the Chromebook that has sold like hotcakes for almost a year and a half now is the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5.This year we've seen a few iterations of the Flex 5 hit the market — and we're still waiting for one more to arrive — but the one that I was absolutely positive would rule 2021 (and 2022) was its direct successor: the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5i. It brought new processors, higher storage configurations, and the Abyss Blue color that I absolutely fell in love with on the ThinkPad C13. It seemed like the minor upgrade to turn greatness into perfection.Unfortunately, as good as the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5i is, right now, you're better off buying the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5, especially as it continues to get huge discounts regularly.At...

Being dead is tough. Getting resurrected is turning out to be even tougher. We're smack dab in the middle of October, but not every game has to be overtly spooky or scary to fit the vibes of the season. Sometimes the best way to get your fill of thrills and horror is to be faced with a mountain of existential dread, and that's exactly what 7Days! is delivering.7Days! is a text-based adventure game dripping with moral dilemas and impossible decisions. You play as protagonist Kirell, awakening in an interrogation room with no memories after your spirit has crossed the River of Oblivion. Her interrogator is Charon, the ferryman of the dead himself, and he has some questions. After informing you that you are most certainly dead, Charon launches into a series of questions about Kirell — but not about her past or facts about herself. No, his questions are far more vague. He's trying to get a sense for who Kirell is at her very core and you, the player, are going to decide that for he...

"Why does this phone exist?" To prove Pixels can actually do battery right. The Google Pixel line has suffered from fatal flaws in previous generations, but the one that crops up time and time again is short battery life. The Pixel 4 was essentially killed by its own small battery, and the Pixel 3 was barely any better. Last year's Pixel 5 had a good enough battery to get through a good day, and that was a banner achievement for Google after years of battery woes.Last year's Pixel 4a 5G was in the same boat: it could get through the day with its battery, but it was too expensive to compete with the mid-range phones and too underpowered to fight with some of the best Android phones in the $500-$700 range last year — like the Pixel 5 once it got down to $600. Performance was fine, but it just didn't fit anywhere in the United States market. This year's Pixel 5a is only available in the United States and Japan, so Google had to ensure that it could properly compete on both fea...

While there are screenshots available as well as a leaked playtest, fans are eager to learn how the mobile version of the beloved shooter will compare to previous releases.EA will want to make Battlefield Mobile feel as close to the console and PC games as possible, which has worked well in the past with competition, like Activision and Call of Duty Mobile. However, with developer Industrial Toys mostly taking the reins from DICE, as well as a fanbase largely unsatisfied with the changes observed during the Battlefield 2042 beta, it's unclear what features will be present in the mobile release and how closely it will resemble the Battlefield fans love. HP did a great job here with everything but the price and marketing.HP turned a number of heads when it first announced the HP Chromebook X2 11. This was our first premium Chrome tablet since the Google Pixel Slate back in 2018, and it looked much more polished. Unlike the Pixel Slate, it came with the kickstand and keyboard in the box, and unlike the Lenovo Chromebook Duet, the keyboard would actually magnetize to the tablet when it was closed for easier carrying and better protection of the screen. However, the other reason for that head-turning was the starting price attached to the X2 11: $600. That's higher than some of the best Chromebooks on the market, including many powerful laptops like the ASUS Chromebook Flip 536. People expect a lot from tablets priced that high — that's getting into iPad Pro and Surface Pro territory — but the HP Chromebook X2 11 can't quite deliver the power of that price bracket. So, why am I in love with this teal tablet? AC's fitness freaks dish on the favorite tech that keeps them fit and happy. When it comes to the best fitness trackers or fitness-themed smartwatches, we'll test each watch for a couple of weeks to get a clear sense of how they work. But then we'll move on to the following review, and that watch will get shoved in a bin with other tech or shipped back to the company. Even if a watch or its fitness app impresses us, that doesn't always mean we'll keep using it.As part of my marathon training, I surveyed my colleagues on the fitness tech they use to stay fit. I've reviewed a couple of cheap fitness bands, but my colleagues have spent years testing the best (and worst) offerings from Garmin, Samsung, Apple, Fitbit, TicWatch, and so many other brands. With a wealth of free review units to choose from, these are the ones they actually kept using — or even bought with their own money.Jump to:Al SaccoAndrew MyrickAra WagonerChris WedelCourtney LynchDerrek LeeJeramy Johnso...

A Wi-Fi-enabled security camera is an excellent way to keep an eye on your home while you're away. If you can find an Alexa-compatible security camera, it makes watching over your home that much easier. For example, you can check in on the pets while you're at work, and in the case of those with built-in microphones, quickly tell your kid that they're supposed to be studying instead of playing video games. With these cameras, you can ask Alexa to show you what is happening at any point in time and connect your cameras to Alexa routines and smart light bulbsfor further home automation.Budget pickWyze Cam v3 with Color Night VisionStaff PickThe latest Wyze Cam v3 comes with all the great features of the favorite v2 camera plus the bonus of 1080p color night viewing thanks to its impressive Starlight Sensor. This means you'll be able to easily spot your dog playing in the backyard even after the sun goes down. Also, unlike its predecessor, it's water-resistant with an IP65 rat...

I don't care how the competition does it. I just want my stuff to stay safe.Almost everything you read about how bad Android is when it comes to protecting your personal data is a lie. Maybe lie is a strong word here, but these types of anecdotes always seem to ignore things like Google Play Protect and instead try to tell you that using Android is a sure-fire way to give all your information to some hacker in a foreign country. Every Android phone with Google services, from the cheapest handset to the best Android phone, is protected no matter where you get your apps. While most of this sort of thing comes from regular people with regular writing jobs, sometimes Big Tech does it, too. Case in point: Apple is trying every trick in the book to beat out Epic Games over the whole Fortnite mess. Yeah, you thought that it was finished. Not by a long shot. To bolster its idea that sideloading applications outside of the official Apple App Store is the devil, it has produced a 31-page ma...

The feature is currently in development. What you need to knowChrome OS' Phone Hub feature could soon let you take phone calls on your Chromebook. The functionality could be tied to the upcoming "Eche" feature. Once "Eche" rolls out, you'll be able to mirror your Pixel phone on your Chromebook desktop.Google will soon make it possible for users to make phone calls from their Chromebooks, according to a new commit added to the Chromium Gerrit. While the commit suggests it will only enable notifications for incoming calls, the actual flag description points to it enabling the ability to make and receive calls. As pointed out by the folks at ChromeUnboxed, it wouldn't make any sense to have notifications for outgoing calls. The functionality is likely to be a part of an upcoming "Eche" feature, which will enable Pixel users to mirror their phone screen to their Chromebook. This could also mean that the ability to make and receive phone calls from a Chromebook will be limited t...

But in real-world setting, you'll need to share login credentials with friends and family members at some point, so 1Password is making that method a bit more secure. The password management service has announced a new feature cleverly called Psst! (password secure sharing tool). It enables you to share passwords with anyone or only with people you trust via a link. You can even give this information to people who do not use 1Password.Previously, 1Password would require peo...

You don't have to fiddle around with the actual lenses. What you need to knowAnker has announced its first audio glasses. The Soundcore Frames feature four speakers for immersive audio and detachable frames. The glasses will be available starting November 10 for $199.More and more companies are starting to get into wearables with smart glasses, and Anker has just thrown itself into the burgeoning eyewear market with its new Soundcore Frames. The new glasses feature a stylish design that actually allows the frames to be detached from the temples. This way, users will be able to swap the frames out for a different pair, perhaps with a new design to match your look. This differs from other wearables like the Razer Anzu that I reviewed. I have to pop out the actual lenses to switch to sunglasses or a prescription lens. While I don't mind this, Anker's solution sounds a lot better.Anker says it offers 10 frames with different styles and lenses to choose from, and they cost $49...

No other gaming console has evolved this much in so short a time. When Facebook and Oculus released the Oculus Quest 2 on October 13, 2020 — one year ago today — we praised it as an ergonomic device with major upgrades over the original Quest in performance and display quality. But a limited review period can only let you see so much. The longer you use a device, the easier it is to move past the honeymoon period and spot the cracks at the seams. After nearly a year with the Oculus Quest 2, I've experienced many of the most common complaints with the device — and found ways to circumvent them. I invested in a new head strap to better balance its front-heavy weight. I tend to get a low battery warning after about 90 minutes, breaking my immersion, so I looked into battery packs. I'm one of the people who dealt with bad skin irritation from the default foam face cover (which led to a recent Quest 2 recall), so I bought a better face cover replacement. The Quest 2 naturally ...
