Politicians finally start to notice the truth behind H-1B visas

About 500 IT workers at Southern California Edison are being laid off and replaced with cheaper workers from Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services; two India based IT outsourcing firms.

Perhaps it was the fact that SCE is a utility and more in the public's eye; perhaps SCE was too flagrant in their swap; or perhaps it was sheer luck, but U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa, (R-Calif.) and U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala) are taking this problem seriously. It's too premature to say that this will directly lead to long-term fixes to the H-1B visa program, but at least the dialogue has made it to Washington.
