Want Your Own Quadracoper?

by

story imageIf I were a despotic ruler, I'd have a fleet of computer-controlled flying death machines I could dispatch at a moment's notice to strike down my opponents. Well, I might not be a despot, but I can still have the flying machines. Check out Awesome Awesomeness, who created his own (her own?) Quadracopter out of an Arduino board and less than $60 in components. A couple of the parts were created on a 3D printer.

All they're missing is the death-laser and, to build out the fleet, about a million more of them. Now I've just got to practice my evil, madman laugh .

I've been thinking that a 3d printer might be the essential cool toy for kids these days to really get their creative hat on. Any recommendations for the best gear or setup for a basic home lab?

I wanted one as well, until I saw the prices. For most of us, it will make more sense to send what you need made to a 3D print shop.

You COULD have an army of lying death machines, or you could have an army of flying https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HnwhGgsgXc">cats !

wow, the site made a mishmash of that URL. Check out which part of it actually got translated into the URL! Funny. Anyway, if the video you linked to is a fleet of flying evil helicopter-cats, I'm glad I didn't click it. Would probably scare the shit out of me. "Evil has a new name." Might make a good movie, though.
