The Oakland Raiders aren't where head coach Jon Gruden hoped they would be after he signed a 10-year, $100-million deal in January. But despite a 1-5 record entering the bye week, Gruden remains hopeful."We aren't tanking anything," he said, according to Josh Dubow of The Associated Press. "We are not getting up at 4 o'clock in the morning to tank it. Ain't nobody tanking it."After starting their season with losses to the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos, and Miami Dolphins, the Raiders secured their first win in overtime against the Cleveland Browns. The bounce back was short-lived, however, as Oakland lost its next two games against the Los Angeles Chargers and the Seattle Seahawks, getting outscored 53-13 across the two contests."We are going to continue to work hard, continue to build our team, and that was part of the message," Gruden added. Before the season, the Raiders traded star pass-rusher Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears for a handful of draft picks and have reportedly made receiver Amari Cooper and safety Karl Joseph available for trades.Meanwhile, linebacker Derrick Johnson was released Tuesday, and there could be more moves in the near future."We're still looking at this roster," Gruden said. "We're looking around the league to find means to get better."The Raiders will look for victory number two as they play host in Week 8 to the Indianapolis Colts.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll remains committed to his team following the death of owner Paul Allen, the man who hired him away from USC in 2010."Absolutely," Carroll said when asked if he wants to stay with the Seahawks, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.Carroll reflected on the owner's influence and credited Allen's sense of commitment for his move away from the college game, where he'd had so much success."He wanted to win championships and that's what he was all about," Carroll said. "He wasn't going to let anything get in the way and he was really clear about that. The message that came through was really one that I hadn't heard in that fashion with that commitment and that spirit of it. That's what made it even possible to even be in the conversation about it."The 67-year-old coach signed a three-year contract extension with the Seahawks in 2016, which is set to expire after next season.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen will miss at least two-to-three games before being evaluated on a week-to-week basis, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.Allen's injury is to his ulnar collateral ligament and will not require surgery, Pelissero adds. The No. 7 pick of the 2018 NFL Draft was taken out late in the third quarter of the Bills' 20-13 loss to the Houston Texans after going 10-for-17 with 84 passing yards and 20 yards on the ground. With Allen out multiple weeks, head coach Sean McDermott has yet to announce whether Nathan Peterman or recently signed Derek Anderson will be starting against the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday.Peterman started in Week 1 this season, going 5-for-18 with 24 passing yards and two interceptions against the Baltimore Ravens. He didn't fare much better in relief of Allen on Sunday, completing 50 percent of his throws for one touchdown and two interceptions, including a game-deciding pick-6.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. At the owners meeting in New York on Tuesday, the NFL's chief medical officer, Dr. Allen Sills, said the league found seven teams that had an elevated number of concussions following the 2017 preseason and "a targeted intervention with those clubs" was launched, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN.The league held wide-ranging conversations with the football operations staffs of those teams, discussing designs of practice drills and player helmets, and is "cautiously optimistic" about the results."In six of those seven clubs, the numbers did go down," Sills said. "Those seven clubs had 23 practice concussions as a whole in 2017, down to nine in 2018."The number of preseason concussions dropped by 12 league-wide from 2017 to 2018, with zero of those injuries being sustained on kickoffs following rule changes to make the play safer.Another targeted area was a helmet-rating system, which grades helmet safety on a green-to-red scale. NFL vice president of player health and safety, Jeff Miller, said the system, developed in conjunction with the NFLPA, has seen positive results in players switching helmets to those with a superior rating.Helmets with a red rating will be prohibited for all players next season. Only 40 such helmets remained in use as of Week 3, according to Miller.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Every Monday during the season, theScore's Justin Boone will run down the recommended waiver wire pickups.Ownership percentages are based on Yahoo leagues. FAAB bids are set off a $100 budget. Only players owned in less than 60 percent of leagues are considered.Fantasy Podcast: Week 6 takeaways, and early look at waiver wireQuarterbackAndy Lyons / Getty Images Sport / GettyMitch Trubisky, BearsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. NE29%$5It's our first week with more than two teams on a bye, meaning QB streamers will have added importance. At the top of the list this week is Trubisky, who's thrown for 670 yards and nine touchdowns across his last two games. He's looking more comfortable in Matt Nagy's offense and is spreading the ball around with ease. Meanwhile, the Patriots have allowed multiple touchdown passes in four of their six outings this season, giving Trubisky an excellent chance to continue his hot streak.Baker Mayfield, BrownsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidat TB42%$2Mayfield came out of Sunday's loss a little banged up, but he gets to face a horrible Buccaneers pass defense that just fired coordinator Mike Smith. Tampa's allowed more fantasy points to quarterbacks than any other team, as the defense has given up at least 334 passing yards to every QB it's faced while allowing an average of three passing touchdowns per game. And looking ahead, Mayfield's next month appears extremely promising with the Steelers, Chiefs, and Falcons on tap after the Bucs.Other options: Eli Manning at Falcons (22 percent owned), Joe Flacco vs. NO (27 percent owned), Blake Bortles vs. HOU (42 percent owned)*Jameis Winston is owned in 59 percent of leagues, but should be targeted anywhere he's still available.Running BackJoe Robbins / Getty Images Sport / GettyPeyton Barber, BuccaneersNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. CLE33%$29Barber was completely ineffective over the first four games and was barely used as a pass-catcher, but all that changed coming out of the bye against a broken-down Falcons defense. The Bucs gave Barber another chance and he seized it with 82 yards on 13 carries and another 24 yards on four receptions, including a touchdown. The door that was cracked open for rookie Ronald Jones has been slammed shut. With the offense clicking once again, Barber becomes an intriguing option against the Browns, who were just carved up by Melvin Gordon for 150 yards and three scores from scrimmage.Marlon Mack, ColtsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. BUF26%$29Nyheim Hines, who was previously featured in this space, may have squandered his opportunity to take charge of the Colts' backfield. After dropping a wide-open touchdown pass in the end zone, he didn't see much work the rest of the afternoon. So, with Jordan Wilkins not doing much in the opening month and Hines committing rookie mistakes, Mack stepped up in his return from injury with 93 yards from scrimmage. A timeshare is likely to continue, but Mack has the skill set and the results to remain the lead back.Ito Smith, FalconsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. NYG9%$24Devonta Freeman just can't get healthy this season and has now been placed on injured reserve. His absence has permitted Smith to take on a significant role alongside Tevin Coleman, and while the rookie hasn’t racked up many yards, he’s scored a touchdown in three straight games. It appears Smith is becoming the Javorius Allen to Coleman's Alex Collins, especially since he's emerging as the clear goal-line option. With Freeman now sidelined for at least eight weeks, Smith needs to be owned everywhere.Frank Gore, DolphinsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. DET10%$9The 35-year-old led the Dolphins' backfield in their overtime win over the Bears, rushing 15 times for 101 yards while tacking on 18 more yards through the air. Gore isn't someone you'll be excited about picking up, but he's in an even timeshare with Kenyan Drake and looks like the more reliable fantasy asset. The Lions' run defense will be well-rested coming off their bye, but that might not matter since they were allowing the third-most fantasy points to running backs heading into Week 6. If you're in a bye-week crunch, Gore is a serviceable fill-in.Nick Chubb/Duke Johnson, BrownsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidat TB30%/33%$9/$8Hue Jackson reiterated a desire to get Chubb the ball more often, which is an extremely obvious concept considering how much talent the rookie has flashed on just two or three touches per game. Veteran Carlos Hyde is averaging only 3.4 yards per carry and an injury to the veteran would vault Chubb into potential league-winning status, making him one of the best stashes out there. Meanwhile, Johnson had 109 yards from scrimmage on Sunday, including 73 receiving yards, and did all that on just six touches. The limited volume makes him hard to trust in fantasy, but with several injuries among the Browns' receiving corps, Johnson could see his role grow as a pass-catcher.Other options: Raheem Mostert vs. LAR (0 percent owned), LeGarrette Blount at MIA (12 percent owned), Chris Ivory at IND (10 percent owned), D'Onta Foreman on PUP (24 percent owned), Spencer Ware vs. CIN (5 percent owned), Malcolm Brown at SF (2 percent owned), C.J. Anderson at PHI (19 percent owned)*Corey Clement is owned in 59 percent of leagues, but should be targeted anywhere he's still available.Wide ReceiversStreeter Lecka / Getty Images Sport / GettyChris Godwin, BuccaneersNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. CLE44%$34You won't get another opportunity to pick up Godwin. Aside from a two-catch performance in a blowout loss to the Bears in Week 4, the receiver has gone 3-41-1, 4-56-1, 5-74-1, and 6-56-1 this season - that's four touchdowns in five games. Jameis Winston has returned and we know the pair has chemistry dating back to their run down the stretch last season. There's no reason Godwin should be available in more than half of leagues.Taylor Gabriel, BearsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. NE22%$29Gabriel's another familiar name on this list and recorded back-to-back 100-yard games across his last two outings. The breakout has coincided with Trubisky's improved play, lending credence to the possibility that Gabriel could be an impact fantasy WR3/flex play the rest of the way. And in deeper leagues, keep your eyes on Anthony Miller (7 percent owned). The rookie caught his second touchdown of the season on Sunday and is a cheap entry point to an emerging offense.Dede Westbrook, JaguarsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. HOU44%$19Westbrook leads the Jags in receptions and receiving yards, and has at least 50 yards or a touchdown in five of six games this season. He's a surprisingly consistent fantasy weapon in an offense known for its high ceiling and low floor.Christian Kirk, CardinalsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. DEN14%$14No one's benefited more from Josh Rosen being named Arizona's starter than Kirk. The rookie posted at least 77 yards in three of the last four weeks while usurping an injured Larry Fitzgerald to become the Cardinals' top fantasy receiver. He's another player who's reached flex status, and could rise higher as the season progresses.Jermaine Kearse, JetsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. MIN1%$9Quincy Enunwa suffered a high-ankle sprain on Sunday, which will increase Kearse's slot snaps. Kearse was fantasy-relevant at times last season with Josh McCown under center, and we got a reminder of that in Sunday's game when he delivered nine catches for 94 yards on 10 targets. If you're looking for Enunwa-style production, Kearse is more than capable of replicating the former's numbers. In deeper leagues, Terrelle Pryor (2 percent owned) is also worth consideration after his five-catch, 57-yard, one-touchdown performance in Week 6. However, he'll be a more volatile fantasy asset than Kearse.Tre'Quan Smith/Cameron Meredith, SaintsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidat BAL5%/9%$9/$9It's easy to forget players who have big weeks and then go on a bye, but you shouldn't let Smith or Meredith slip through your grasp. Smith posted 111 yards and two touchdowns on three catches in the Saints' big Monday night win in Week 5, while Meredith hauled in five passes for 77 yards in the same contest. Of course, Ted Ginn's knee injury freed up targets in that game, so we'll need to monitor his practice participation this week. Regardless, Smith and Meredith need to rostered as potential breakout candidates in a Drew Brees-led passing attack that's been forced to throw more often due to the team's defensive struggles this season.Albert Wilson, DolphinsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. DET10%$7Low target totals made Wilson a risky fantasy play prior to Week 6. He hadn’t topped six in any game this year, but that number jumped to nine in a huge performance against the Bears. If we see Wilson remain in that range, he'll be a regular WR3 for fantasy. His ability to turn short passes in space into huge gains has been on display all season. On the other hand, whether you want to invest in an offense that might be quarterbacked by Brock Osweiler is something you'll have to decide for yourself.Other options: Marquise Goodwin vs. LAR (41 percent owned), Tyrell Williams vs. TEN (9 percent owned), Keke Coutee at JAX (47 percent owned), Chester Rogers vs. BUF (16 percent owned), Cole Beasley at WAS (9 percent owned), Josh Reynolds at SF (1 percent owned), Damion Ratley at TB (0 percent owned)Tight EndsChristian Petersen / Getty Images Sport / GettyRicky Seals-Jones, CardinalsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidvs. DEN21%$4Seals-Jones was blanked in the box score in Week 5, failing to bring down any of his six targets. The results were much better in Week 6, when he turned six targets into five receptions for 69 yards. It's a slow process, but Rosen is restoring hope for Arizona's offensive weapons, and that includes RSJ. The Broncos have given up at least 49 yards to five tight ends this year, which makes Seals-Jones' outlook even brighter.C.J. Uzomah, BengalsNext UpOwnershipFAAB bidat KC33%$4Sure, the Steelers are awful at defending tight ends, but Uzomah caught six of seven targets for 54 yards in Week 6. Tyler Eifert and Tyler Kroft are both out of the picture, leaving Uzomah with plenty of opportunities for the rest of the season. And over the next two weeks, he'll get to face two more defenses that are bottom five against tight ends. With many owners searching for an answer at the position, Uzomah can be started with confidence.Other options: Jack Doyle vs. BUF (28 percent owned), Hayden Hurst vs. NO (6 percent owned), Vernon Davis at NYG (2 percent owned), James O'Shaughnessy vs. HOU (0 percent owned)*O.J. Howard and Vance McDonald are owned in 54 percent and 50 percent of leagues, respectively, but should be targeted anywhere they are still available.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. Heading into Week 6 of the NFL season, we questioned whether the Patriots could slow down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' incredible offense, whether Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers could overcome Jessie Bates and the Bengals' stout pass defense, and if the Jets' running game could get anything going against Darius Leonard and the Colts' run defense. Here's a look at how these matchups played out.Chiefs' offense vs. Patriots' dime packagesWinner: ChiefsThe Sunday night clash between the Patriots and Chiefs more than lived up to the hype. After the Pats raced out to a 24-9 lead at the half, Mahomes and the Chiefs stormed back to take a late lead. Then Tom Brady led one last drive to set the stage for a Stephen Gostkowski field goal on the game’s final play, giving the Patriots the three-point win.The Patriots built their halftime advantage in part because they were able to take away what Kansas City does best - and used the 3-2-6 dime package to accomplish this goal. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was a clear focal point of this strategy, and it paid off in the early going. Mahomes threw two first-half interceptions, and the second offered a prime example of Bill Belichick trying to eliminate Kelce as an option. In the closing seconds of the first half, the Chiefs were in the red zone with a chance to cut into New England's lead. They faced a first-and-10 on the Patriots' 15-yard line, and this is how the teams aligned for the next play:NFL/NBCKelce (No. 87) aligns as the inside receiver in a trips formation. Look at how the Patriots defend him with their 3-2-6 package. Dont'a Hightower (No. 54) is right across from him, and he chips Kelce and denies him a free release off the line of scrimmage before rushing Mahomes. Then Kelce faces a double-coverage look from safeties Patrick Chung (No. 23) and Duron Harmon (No. 21). The other linebacker on the field, Kyle Van Noy (No. 53), aligns wide on the left side of the defense across from running back Spencer Ware (No. 32), who is split wide to the right side of the offense. After chipping Kelce, Hightower flushes Mahomes to his right. The young quarterback still tries to hit Kelce, but with double coverage on the TE, the pass ends up in the wrong hands:The Chiefs responded by hitting some big plays against this 3-2-6 package from the Patriots. For example, on Tyreek Hill’s 75-yard touchdown pass that tied the score at 40, the Chiefs took advantage of the Patriots' dime defense - and their focus on Kelce.Facing a first-and-10 on its own 25-yard line, Kansas City used a two-tight end package, putting Kelce and Demetrius Harris (No. 84) to the left. The Patriots had their 3-2-6 package on the field, and they dropped safety Devin McCourty (No. 32) down across from Kelce to help cover the tight end. But that meant McCourty wasn't in position to help against Hill’s deep crossing route:The Chiefs smoked the Patriots' 3-2-6 coverage in the second half - and it nearly opened the door for an incredible road comeback. At the very least, that second-half rally earns them a narrow victory in this X vs. O.Ben Roethlisberger vs. Jessie BatesWinner: RoethlisbergerThe Steelers pulled out a 28-21 win over Cincinnati on Ben Roethlisberger's game-winning touchdown pass to Antonio Brown - a play we highlighted in our By Design piece. And the matchup we promoted in last week's X vs. O post - Roethlisberger against Bengals’ rookie free safety Jessie Bates - was just as close in favor of Big Ben.While Roethlisberger had a big afternoon, completing 32 of 46 passes for 369 yards and a touchdown, a look at his passing chart Sunday from NFL Next Gen Stats indicates the bulk of his success came in the short passing game, targeting receivers in areas away from Bates in coverage:Roethlisberger connected on just one of six passing attempts of more than 20 yards. That might make sense considering Bates' strengths as a defensive back prospect coming out of Wake Forest - his pre-draft profile at NFL.com lists both man coverage and zone coverage skills among his best traits. But Roethlisberger was terrific in the short and intermediate areas of the field, thereby attacking Bates' biggest weakness. The Steelers QB targeted players like Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and tight end Vance McDonald on shorter routes, getting them in space where they could tack on yardage after the catch. Reading Bates' pre-draft profile, notice that his ability to tackle, particularly in space and in open fields, was a big question mark. On this slant to Brown, you can see how the quick throw and the precise placement from Roethlisberger put the receiver in a position to churn out yards after the reception:Brown runs a slant route from the outside as part of a two-man slant/flat combination. He beats the press coverage and gets inside leverage on the defender, and after making the catch, the first defender he faces is Bates. Brown easily dekes the rookie safety, picking up 48 yards and getting the Steelers into the red zone. There's more than one way to attack a defensive back in coverage. Rather than trying to match Bates' strength, the Steelers looked to isolate his weakness in the open field as a tackler. That decision led directly to victory Sunday.Darius Leonard vs. Jets' running gameWinner: LeonardOne of the top Week 6 matchups pitted the Jets' resurgent ground game against a Colts run defense led by rookie linebacker Darius Leonard. While the Jets came out on top in the final score, beating the Colts 42-34, the Colts' run defense did comport itself well, holding the Jets to 107 yards rushing on 36 attempts. Leonard's dominance contributed to New York's struggles, as he notched nine tackles - five of them solo - and forced a fumble. This play offers a representative glimpse of Leonard in run support, sifting through blockers to stop a run before it gets going:The Jets may have ruled the day, but Leonard won this matchup comfortably.Mark Schofield writes NFL feature content for theScore. It was a bountiful harvest in Week 6 for those who sift through game tape to find quality defensive line play.A few defensive linemen still stood out above the others. Let’s examine the defensive line standouts from Week 6.Defensive Lineman of the Week: Frank Clark, Seattle SeahawksGoing into Sunday, Frank Clark’s matchup against the Oakland Raiders' offensive tackles was one of Week 6’s biggest mismatches. To no one’s surprise, Clark took advantage of the matchup, finishing with four tackles, 2.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. The 25-year-old showed why he's one of the most backwards-moving pass-rushers in the NFL while using a different method to defeat blockers on each sack. For his first sack, Clark used a speed rush to wrap around the edge:Here, he aligns with an outside shade over Kolton Miller. Clark explodes out of his stance at the snap so quickly that by his third step he's stretched Miller’s pass set with his speed. That forces the rookie offensive tackle to turn his shoulders perpendicular to the line of scrimmage in an attempt to push Clark past the pocket.Once he gets within range, Clark blows past Miller with a speed cross-chop-to-rip move. The rip move drops his pad level so that he can turn the corner at a tighter angle for the sack.On his second sack of the game, Clark takes care of his run and pass responsibilities while beating a block and bringing down the quarterback:On this play, Clark again aligns with an outside shade over Miller. Because of Derek Carr’s play-action fake, Clark initiates contact as if he’s defending the run. However, once Clark identifies the play-action pass, he immediately creates space with his length and executes a perfectly placed long-arm-to-cross-chop move to defeat Miller’s hands. Once he clears contact, Clark accelerates through the pocket, taking down Carr to share a sack with Seahawks defensive end Quinton Jefferson. For his final sack of the day, Clark converts his speed into power as he turns Miller into a mere speed bump on his way to Carr:Clark’s initial movements mimic a speed rush, forcing Miller to get a lot of depth with his pass set. Clark uses Miller’s momentum against him when he bull rushes the backwards-moving tackle. Miller doesn't put himself in position to anchor against the bull rush, and soon the blocker is on his back while Clark hauls down Carr for the sack.Clark already has a double-digit sack season under his belt (10 sacks in 2016). But it still feels like a true breakout season is coming, and he could soon be regarded as one of the best pass-rushers in the NFL.Pass Rush of the Week: Chandler Jones, Arizona CardinalsIn 2017, Chandler Jones was the best edge defender in football. He used his bendy frame, athleticism, and unique ability to sequence moves together to embarrass blockers throughout the year. This year, the Cardinals aren't very good, but Jones continues his stellar play, most recently showcasing his skill set with a sack against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 6:Here, he's in a two-point stance with an outside shade over the Vikings' left tackle. After the snap, Jones uses long strides to eat up the cushion from the left tackle’s pass set. Once he gets within striking distance, Jones lands a well-placed long arm, setting the table for a "forklift" move to knock the tackle’s outside arm away. That gives Jones the space he needs to drop his pad level and wrap around the edge for the sack.Notice how Jones uses the momentum from the forklift move to turn and align his hip toward the quarterback. It’s an expert demonstration of timing, hand placement, footwork, and body control.Run Defender of the Week: Akiem Hicks, Chicago BearsBears defensive tackle Akiem Hicks was the most dominant defensive lineman against the run in Week 6, accumulating seven stops to tie his single-game career-high, per Pro Football Focus.Even though it didn’t lead to a victory, Hicks’ stop and forced fumble on the goal line in overtime was the highlight of a solid overall performance against the run:On this play, Hicks aligns head-up over the Dolphins' right guard. After the snap, he executes a forearm shiver to displace the guard and is then in perfect position to make the tackle before the running back can score. He's not done there, as Hicks also forces a fumble that the Bears recover.Often, defensive linemen make game-changing plays as pass-rushers. However, Hicks did his part against the run and put Chicago in a better position to win. That didn’t work out, but Hicks still deserves praise for his superhero effort as a run defender. In the Spotlight: Bradley Chubb, Denver BroncosIt’s been a slow build for Bradley Chubb this season, but a breakout finally came for the 2018 fifth overall pick in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Rams when he finished with three sacks and four tackles. With Von Miller providing electric speed off the edge for the Broncos, Chubb gives their defense a legitimate power rusher. In college, Chubb was able to capitalize on his refined hand usage and raw strength to batter and bludgeon opposing offensive linemen. It’s been more difficult for him in the NFL, but Chubb’s hand usage and power still allow him to generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks. He leaned on those skills to get his first sack against the Rams:On this play, Chubb aligns with an outside shade on Rams left tackle Andrew Whitworth, who is one of the NFL's best tackles. After the snap, he presses upfield for two steps before attacking Whitworth down the middle with an old-school bull rush.Chubb does an excellent job of initiating contact with inside hands and proper pad level, allowing him to win the leverage battle and maximize his power on the rush. Once Whitworth attempts to anchor against Chubb’s power rush, the rookie defender shows off his raw strength as he bench presses the veteran tackle off his frame to disengage and make the sack. The play was also an impressive demonstration of executing the finer details of a bull rush. Chubb’s effectiveness as a power rusher will start to open up his speed rush game, and that’s when he'll get to truly show off the skill set that made him the No. 1 edge defender in the 2018 NFL Draft.John Owning is a football writer at theScore. NFL owners will meet Tuesday and Wednesday in New York, and among the topics of discussion will be the now dormant anthem issue. However, it's expected no action will be taken in regards to anthem policy, Mark Maske of the Washington Post reports. Instead, talks are predicted to center around "a broader conversation about social-justice initiatives with the players."The hot-button topic of last season is decidedly less so through six weeks of this year's campaign. The protests made during the national anthem aren't garnering national attention. Players including the Miami Dolphins' Kenny Stills and the Carolina Panthers' Eric Reid continue to kneel during the anthem, and others such as the San Francisco 49ers' Marquise Goodwin and the Dolphins' Robert Quinn still raise a fist, but it has yet to get a rise out of U.S. President Donald Trump.Instead, much of the attention has been on the product on the field and the strong viewership numbers.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. The NFL Power Rankings are selected by a panel of theScore's football editors, including Mike Alessandrini, Jack Browne, Michael McClymont, and Arun Srinivasan.1. Los Angeles Rams (6-0)Previous Rank: 1The league's sole remaining undefeated team must be careful not to fall victim to a trap game next week versus the 49ers before a stretch that includes the Packers, Saints, Seahawks, and Chiefs. - McClymont2. New England Patriots (4-2)Previous Rank: 4Since New England was embarrassed by Detroit on SNF, it's scored 116 points in only three games. The AFC isn't ready for a changing of the guard just yet. - Browne3. Kansas City Chiefs (5-1)Previous Rank: 2The Chiefs could enjoy a special season if their 32nd-ranked defense can sort itself out. - McClymont4. New Orleans Saints (4-1)Previous Rank: 3Coming off a bye, we'll see just how good Sean Payton's squad is this week as his No. 3 offense has a road date with Baltimore's No. 1 defense. Something's got to give. - Alessandrini5. Los Angeles Chargers (4-2)Previous Rank: 9The Chargers have only losses to the Chiefs and Rams on their ledger. With a strong showing in London next week, they could enter the second half of the season as a legitimate threat to win the AFC. - McClymont6. Minnesota Vikings (3-2-1)Previous Rank: 10Sometimes talent wins out, and though the Vikings have yet to put a complete performance together, they're trending upward. - Srinivasan7. Baltimore Ravens (4-2)Previous Rank: 13Make all the dated jokes you want about Joe Flacco, he's been good enough this year while the defense has the Ravens looming as one of the AFC's true dangers heading into mid-October. - Srinivasan8. Carolina Panthers (3-2)Previous Rank: 5With records of 3-0 at home and 0-2 on the road, the Panthers' upcoming matchup in Philadelphia predicts to be a tough one. Carolina has been inconsistent at best after its early bye. - Alessandrini9. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2-1)Previous Rank: 11Is there a player more terrifying than Antonio Brown with a game on the line? - Srinivasan10. Cincinnati Bengals (4-2)Previous Rank: 7It would be unfair to dismiss Cincinnati's season to date because of Antonio Brown's 31-yard touchdown on the Steelers' final drive, but this was the Bengals' chance to finally bury their archrival and prove that the hot start to the year wasn't an anomaly. - Srinivasan11. Philadelphia Eagles (3-3)Previous Rank: 14Philly's defense might not be giving up too many points, but it can't keep surrendering big chunks of yardage - seven plays of at least 45 yards allowed, tied for most in the NFL - if a repeat is to be in the cards. - Browne12. Chicago Bears (3-2)Previous Rank: 8It's hard to get a read on the Bears, who have lost by a combined four points in their two defeats. They could be 5-0 in an alternate timeline and now host the Patriots, who appear to be in top form. - Srinivasan13. Green Bay Packers (3-2-1)Previous Rank: 12It wasn't their best effort against the 49ers, but when in doubt, all it takes is a picture-perfect late drive from Aaron Rodgers to rescue the day. - Srinivasan14. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-3)Previous Rank: 6Two straight defensive duds from the Jags is a significant cause for concern, especially when Blake Bortles is simultaneously playing horrible football. - Alessandrini15. Washington Redskins (3-2)Previous Rank: 17The Redskins have been unbelievably mediocre for far too long. They might not see a better shot at winning the NFC East than this season for a long time. - Browne16. Miami Dolphins (4-2)Previous Rank: 15The signing of Albert Wilson was mostly ignored, and the Dolphins even admitted in the offseason that they needed to figure out his role. After making seven (!) defenders miss on a game-tying 75-yard score, the receiver should no longer be slept on. - Browne17. Seattle Seahawks (3-3)Previous Rank: 20Talk of the demise of Seattle's defense may have been greatly exaggerated. The unit registered six sacks and three forced fumbles in a near shutout of the Raiders. - McClymont18. Dallas Cowboys (3-3)Previous Rank: 26Jason Garrett selling his soul in exchange for an offensive resurrection is the only explanation for the Cowboys dropping 40 on the vaunted Jags D. - Browne19. Tennessee Titans (3-3)Previous Rank: 16Twelve points scored, 13 sacks allowed, and no touchdowns over the last two games. Yuck. - Alessandrini20. Detroit Lions (2-3)Previous Rank: 19Coming off the bye week, the Lions are tasked with taking down a Dolphins team that is somehow sitting at 4-2 after an upset win over the Bears. - Srinivasan21. Atlanta Falcons (2-4)Previous Rank: 24Exhale, Falcons fans, at least for now. Surviving a wild final play against the Buccaneers is a positive, but Dan Quinn's defense remains among the NFL's leakiest. - Alessandrini22. New York Jets (3-3)Previous Rank: 25Two straight high-scoring wins have returned the early optimism surrounding the Jets, but injuries to Quincy Enunwa and Marcus Maye will test New York's depth. - Browne23. Cleveland Browns (2-3-1)Previous Rank: 18Baker Mayfield finally looked like a rookie Sunday. It was bound to happen eventually. The unflappable QB gets a great chance to shake off a poor game with the slumping Bucs up next. - Srinivasan24. Houston Texans (3-3)Previous Rank: 22Deshaun Watson is never going to hit his stride if Houston's offensive line continues to block like the worst unit in the league. - Alessandrini25. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-3)Previous Rank: 21If Gerald McCoy's calf injury is serious, the Bucs' defense will go from bad to historically bad in a hurry. - Alessandrini26. Denver Broncos (2-4)Previous Rank: 23Despite a nice statistical day Sunday, Case Keenum is still missing throws and leaving much to be desired. If he's outplayed by Josh Rosen on Thursday, look out. - McClymont27. Buffalo Bills (2-4)Previous Rank: 27With Josh Allen's status up in the air, the Bills could be forced between again throwing Nathan Peterman to the wolves or introduce Derek Anderson, who signed less than two weeks ago. Is neither an option? - Browne28. San Francisco 49ers (1-5)Previous Rank: 32So that's why Kyle Shanahan had such faith in C.J. Beathard. Unfortunately for the Niners, the youngster shriveled when the possibility of a Monday night upset became too real. - McClymont29. Indianapolis Colts (1-5)Previous Rank: 29Injuries are partly to blame, but Indy has lost three winnable games in 2018. This year was supposed to begin the turnaround. We aren't holding our breath. - Alessandrini30. New York Giants (1-5)Previous Rank: 28It speaks to how fun Saquon Barkley is that watching the rookie run circles around all challengers is worth the pain of witnessing 2018 Eli Manning ... but only just. - Browne31. Arizona Cardinals (1-5)Previous Rank: 31The present may be bleak, but the future is bright in Arizona. The Cardinals' top two picks in each of the last two drafts (Josh Rosen, Christian Kirk, Haason Reddick, and Budda Baker) each showed flashes of brilliance Sunday. - McClymont32. Oakland Raiders (1-5)Previous Rank: 30Ten years later and Jon Gruden still hates young players. Though he shut down rumors that Amari Cooper is on the trade block, Gareon Conley played zero defensive snaps in a beatdown in London. - McClymontCopyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen will be sidelined Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts because of an elbow injury and the rookie could miss additional games, sources told Dianna Russini of ESPN.Allen was deemed week to week on Monday, a day after he was forced out of the Bills' loss to the Houston Texans. He is believed to be suffering from an ulnar collateral ligament injury in his throwing elbow. The No. 7 pick in the 2018 draft has thrown for 832 yards with two touchdowns and five interceptions in six outings this season. He's only managed to complete 54 percent of his passes, though Buffalo hasn't exactly equipped him with a great supporting cast.It remains to be seen whether the Bills will turn once again to interception-prone Nathan Peterman in Allen's place, or if they'll go with veteran Derek Anderson, who signed with the club one week ago.The Bills will take a 2-4 record into Indianapolis.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden is off to a nightmare start to his second stint with the organization and the internet has taken note.Gruden signed a 10-year contract worth $100 million in January and was expected to galvanize the team after missing the playoffs in 2017.After stumbling to a 1-5 record, an internet user - perhaps a disgruntled Raiders fan - created isgrudengoneyet.com, a live countdown of how long Gruden has left on his contract. It also calculates how much he has earned and how much he's still owed in real time.Oakland traded standout pass rusher Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears prior to the season in exchange for a package involving two first-round picks, drawing the ire of the fan base. Mack has since thrived with the Bears, while the Raiders are reportedly seeking a first-round pick in any deal involving Amari Cooper.Suffice to say, Gruden will need to turn it around quickly before the rest of the fan base turns on him in his first season at the helm.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is considered week to week with an elbow injury he suffered in Sunday's 20-13 loss to the Houston Texans, head coach Sean McDermott announced Monday."We'll see," McDermott said when asked if Allen can play against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.Allen is dealing with an injury to the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, and while it's not considered a major issue, his MRI has been sent to renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrew for a second opinion, according to Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter of ESPN.The rookie was forced from the game late in the third quarter and was replaced by Nathan Peterman, who threw for a touchdown but also helped seal Houston's victory with two interceptions, including a pick-6.Allen had 80 passing yards and 20 rushing yards before exiting. The Bills brought in veteran Derek Anderson last week and he may see game action if Allen is forced to sit against Indianapolis.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. "My understanding is that they have asked for a first-round pick in exchange for Amari Cooper, which seems incredibly significant. He'll be charged with disorderly conduct and throwing an object at a sporting event, Foxborough Police told CBS Boston.Just minutes prior to the police announcement, Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN's Adam Schefter that he and his client were exploring options with the league office and the players' union."That type of behavior is unacceptable," Rosenhaus said. "Players have to be protected. We want that fan to be prosecuted."After Hill caught a 75-yard touchdown pass to tie Sunday night's game with just over three minutes left, his momentum took him toward a section of Patriots fans. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have fired defensive coordinator Mike Smith, the team announced in a statement on Monday. After six weeks, the Buccaneers' defense ranks second-last in yards allowed per game (439.8), and the unit is giving up a league-worst 34.6 points per game.Tampa Bay finished 2017 dead last in yards allowed per game (378.1). That led to a busy offseason, with the team's front office bringing aboard defensive linemen Jason Pierre-Paul, Vinny Curry, Beau Allen, and first-round draft pick Vita Vea.Yet the defensive struggles have continued. The Buccaneers gave up 40 points to the New Orleans Saints in Week 1, surrendered another 30 to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3, allowed 48 points to the Chicago Bears in Week 4, and the Atlanta Falcons lit them up for 34 points on Sunday following a bye week. The Bucs' offense ranks second in yards per game (448.6) and first in passing (368.4). However, due in part to the defensive issues, Tampa Bay has dropped its last three games.Smith, the former head coach of the Atlanta Falcons from 2008 to 2014, went to Tampa in 2016 and helped the Buccaneers' defense improve from 26th to 15th in points allowed. As a result, he was a hot head coaching candidate. However, the past season and a half have doused those flames.Smith was the highest-paid defensive coordinator in the NFL, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Miami Dolphins are taking it day by day with Ryan Tannehill. The team's starting quarterback was surprisingly listed as inactive hours before Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears due to a right shoulder injury. Brock Osweiler played in his place and led the Dolphins to an overtime victory. On Monday, head coach Adam Gase said the timeline of events caught the Dolphins off guard."(When the week started), he was sore but it got worse as the week went on. That's kind of why we found ourselves in a position that we weren't really thinking we were going to be in," Gase said.Asked whether it could progress into a long-term absence, Gase couldn't provide any concrete answers."I'm not sure, I really don't know. I don't know the answer," he said. "It's day to day and it's really going to be about how he feels."I'll know more when I can see him throw again."Despite the alarm brought by the inactive designation, Gase assured concerned parties that he's confident Tannehill will play again this season and that he'll regain his starting job when he's healthy enough to do so.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. Sunday's Week 6 slate features three games in the late afternoon, followed by Sunday Night Football between the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots. Will Bernanke, the lead analyst at CG Analytics in Las Vegas, chimed in on how bettors are playing the games.Los Angeles Rams at Denver BroncosOpening odds: Rams -7 (-115) / 52.5Current odds: Rams -6.5 (-110) / 50The Los Angeles Rams will look to keep their perfect record intact when they take on the struggling Denver Broncos. Los Angeles is coming off a narrow win over the Seattle Seahawks, failing to cover as 7.5-point favorites in a 33-31 victory. Denver - which hasn't covered a spread all season - suffered its third consecutive loss last Sunday, falling to the Jets 34-17.Weather figures to play a role in Denver as the area was hit with snow showers early in the morning."It looks like we're going to actually need the Rams. About 60 percent of the money is on Denver right now," Bernanke told theScore on Sunday morning.Jacksonville Jaguars at Dallas CowboysOpen: Jaguars -3 (+100) / 41Current: Jaguars -3 (-120) / 40Jacksonville is looking to get on a roll after dropping two of its last three games, most recently falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in a 16-point rout as a three-point underdog. Dallas returns home off a 19-16 overtime loss to the Houston Texans, one in which the Cowboys covered as 3.5-point 'dogs."Not a big handle on this game at all - 56 percent of the money is on Jacksonville," said Bernanke. "We need Dallas, but nothing big."

The Oakland Raiders have reportedly been in discussions to trade wide receiver Amari Cooper and safety Karl Joseph, according to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer. The Raiders are shopping Joseph more aggressively than Cooper, per Glazer, but they have called multiple teams around the league to discuss a deal. Both players are former first-rounders. Cooper was the No. 4 overall pick in 2015, while Joseph was selected No. 14 overall in 2016.Oakland appears to be cleaning house under head coach Jon Gruden. The team traded star pass-rusher Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears in a blockbuster deal prior to the 2018 season. Mack was drafted fifth overall in 2014, and is one of the premier defensive players in the NFL.The Raiders' top pass-catcher, Cooper was productive during his first two campaigns. He struggled in 2017, however, catching just 48 passes for 680 yards. The two-time Pro Bowler has 22 receptions for 280 yards and one touchdown through five contests this year.Joseph, meanwhile, appears to have fallen out of favor with his team's new coaching staff. A starter in his first two seasons, the safety has played just 11 defensive snaps in 2018.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill is inactive for Sunday's game versus the Chicago Bears due to a shoulder injury. Brock Osweiler will start in his place.Tannehill practiced Wednesday and Thursday but was surprisingly downgraded to limited participation on Friday. The quarterback's shoulder has reportedly bothered him since Miami's Week 4 loss to the New England Patriots.Osweiler signed a one-year contract with the Dolphins in March. He spent last season with the Denver Broncos, his second stint with the team, and also previously played for the Houston Texans. Houston traded Osweiler to the Cleveland Browns in 2017 just one year after signing the quarterback to a now-infamous $72-million deal, but he was released by Cleveland before the season began. The former second-round pick has accumulated 21 touchdowns and 21 interceptions over the last three campaigns.Copyright © 2018 Score Media Ventures Inc.
