Josh Gordon is ready to speak out about the drug and alcohol problems that derailed his once promising NFL career.Gordon was granted a three-day leave from Florida Recovery Center to sit down with Uninterrupted following 70 consecutive days in rehab, a decision he deemed "therapeutic" to his recovery process.Gordon spoke candidly about how his problems with drugs and alcohol took over his life, and how he felt those around him permitted his use rather than confront him over it."I've used alcohol on many, many occasions, Xanax on many occasions, cocaine several occasions, marijuana most of my life, codeine, cough syrup, methazine is very prevalent where I'm from,'' Gordon said. "It's what I grew up using."I've been enabled most of my life, honestly. I've been enabled by coaches, teachers, professors, everybody pretty much gave me a second chance because of my ability."Gordon specifically detailed how he was able to avoid positive drug tests while at Baylor, stating an unnamed football coach would provide him with what he called "bottles of detox" prior to being tested, and that the coach instructed him on how to properly consume the product."That was my real first experience with getting over on the system and that authority really being taken serious because it was kind of being guided by someone that's employed by the same university," Gordon said.Gordon admits he didn't take his first two-week stay in rehab seriously, but since entering his most recent stay, Gordon cites a possibly surprising source of support and friendship during his struggles and road back to sobriety."I've been able to sit down with Roger Goodell and talk to him, while I was just worried for my career and he gave me some of the most honest answers and information and advice anybody can give to you," Gordon said."I respect Roger Goodell, he gets a bad rap because people don't understand him, they don't know him, but for me he's a great guy. He's a great man and he's been a friend to me. He's been a mentor to me in a way in which he may not even understand."As far as the road ahead is concerned, Gordon appears to know exactly what he needs to do in order to re-establish himself."I need to live out my amends, try to make right for all my past transgressions and mistakes, and show and prove that I can be a better person, a better man, somebody that's accountable, reliable," Gordon said."If given the opportunity, I believe I can prove my worth."Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. On Monday night, the Chicago Bears fan base and the rest of the NFL got their first look at the Mitch Trubisky show (or the Mitchell Trubisky show, depending who you ask).Though he lost his opening contest to the Minnesota Vikings, our first look at the 2017 second overall pick on a pro field told us quite a bit.Kid can moveTrubisky came out of the gate with the Vikings' front seven regularly getting into his backfield, but displayed a great feels for the pressure, rolling out to his left and right while also understanding when to climb the pocket. While his final numbers may have suffered, Trubisky's live legs allowed him to complete seven-of-nine passes in the first quarter. he finished the game with three rushes for 22 yards while only let the Vikings notch one sack and two quarterback hits.Bears can expand his playbookUnder Mike Glennon, a 6-foot-6 statue who needs 25 passes to get loose, the Bears had limited their playbook to standard drop backs to accommodate the pocket passer. Not only did Trubisky show his mobility can help him avoid pressure, but the rookie helped bring the creative side of Dowell Loggains' playbook to life.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer confirmed that Sam Bradford aggravated his knee injury in the second quarter of Monday night's win, though he is "hopeful" about the quarterback's status moving forward.Bradford, who made his first start since Week 1, was replaced by Case Keenum for the final drive of the second quarter against the Chicago Bears. After the game, Zimmer was clear that Bradford was healthy enough to play Monday before a second-quarter tackle re-injured his knee."We wouldn't have put him on the field if we felt he wasn't ready to play," Zimmer told reporters, according to Brian Murphy of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.Zimmer did not offer a timeline for Bradford's recovery.Bradford did not get much help from his teammates, taking four sacks before exiting the contest, which the Vikings won 20-17.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. After suffering a hamstring injury and ankle sprain on Sunday, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford will go through practice this week before determining his status against the New Orleans Saints in Week 6, a source told ESPN's Dan Graziano.Stafford did not exit during the team's 27-24 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, completing 23-of-35 passes for 229 yards with two touchdowns. Appearing on WJR Radio in Detroit on Monday, Stafford declined to provide an update, only stating "I don't know yet. We'll see" about his status for Week 6.Head coach Jim Caldwell told reporters to "check the report" when asked about Stafford. the Lions' first injury report of the week will come out on Wednesday. Caldwell and Stafford seem to agree that it would not be in their best interest to divulge any more information about the injury than the league mandates."Why would you want another team to know exactly what's going on with you if you don't have to mention it?" Stafford said Monday. "Obviously the reports come out and all that kind of stuff, and that's about as much information as we're as a team going to get out."There's no real win in telling everybody in America what's going on with ya, right? Prior to commenting that his players wouldn't be allowed to play if they disrespected the anthem, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones thought controversy around protests during the song would "go away," he told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.Jones had organized for the Cowboys to kneel together "in unity" prior to the anthem at their Week 3 Monday night game against the Arizona Cardinals, which he believed would solve any issues between players and fans. After vice president Mike Pence made a point of leaving the Indianapolis Colts-San Francisco 49ers game after 23 players kneeled during the anthem, Jones felt the need to make another statement and answer questions on the subject after Sunday's game.Jones clarified to Mortensen that no players will be exempt from his rule requiring them to stand for the anthem.Head coach Jason Garrett said defensive ends David Irving and Damontre Moore, who raised their fists during the anthem on Sunday, will "absolutely not" be disciplined. Garrett also said that he had not spoken to Jones about the comments he made Sunday, though the owner told Mortensen that his head coach had been made aware of his feelings last season. Jones also said that the policy is not one he came up with on his own, rather citing policy from the game operations manual, which was pointed out to him by Donald Trump.

Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson says he needs to "take some time" before choosing either DeShone Kizer or Kevin Hogan as his Week 6 starting quarterback, after the former was benched in Sunday's loss. He has set Wednesday as his deadline for the decision.Jackson still believes that his rookie Kizer can be the future of his club, though after losing 11 turnovers in five losses while failing to score a touchdown in three of those contests, he may need to take a step out of the spotlight for now."DeShone is going to be a tremendous football player in this league,'' said Jackson, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. "I'll do what's best for the team and what's best for DeShone.''Hogan already had to replace Kizer in three contests this season, twice for injury purposes before Sunday's outright benching. The second-year quarterback has completed 26-of-38 passes for 377 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Though he has yet to make a start, Hogan's quarterback rating is much improved from Kizer's, holding a 104.8 QBR while the rookie sits at 49.5.The issue for the Browns benching Kizer for any decent length of time is that they are likely to end up with a high draft pick after starting 0-5. In what is expected to be a quarterback-heavy draft, the Browns will need to have conducted a proper evaluation of Kizer before the season ends to properly determine their draft strategy.Either Kizer or Hogan will face the Houston Texans in Week 6 on the road.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Le'Veon Bell believes the Pittsburgh Steelers should've run the ball more Sunday versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, owners of one of the league's worst run-stopping defenses."I don't think we had enough attempts," Bell said Monday, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.Bell and James Conner combined for only 18 rush attempts for the Steelers. Meanwhile, the Jags leaned heavily on Leonard Fournette, giving the rookie 28 carries, and Chris Ivory, whom they fed eight times. Fournette pounded the Steelers for 181 yards and two touchdowns, while Ivory added 41 yards."I think that's just the formula for winning," Bell said. "The Jaguars, they ran the ball a lot of times. You see over the course of the game, it's wearing down the defense. Running the ball shortens the game and opens up the offense, it makes passing the ball easier, it gets you in third and manageable downs. I think just over the course of the season you'll see the teams that run the ball heavy win games."With Bell's role limited, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger attempted a whopping 55 passes. None of them resulted in touchdowns, while five of them were caught by the other team.Bell received 15 carries for 47 yards in the 30-9 loss, and said it would've been a matter of time before the Steelers cracked Jacksonville's defense had they committed more to the ground game."I felt there was room in there. The stats don’t really show what really happened because of the fact there were several runs where we lost yards, but I feel like we were running the ball effectively," he said. The 25-year-old has reached the century mark in rushing just once this season after doing so six times last year. He said he didn't voice his concerns with the coaching staff during the Jaguars game, and instead obided by the gameplan."It doesn't really matter what I think. I just go out there and play," he said. "I don't get frustrated anymore. I just go out there and play. When my number's called, I'll be ready. When it's not, I'll go out and do what they ask me to do."Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Folk was placed on injured reserve as a result. The team famously selected Roberto Aguayo with a second-round pick in last year's draft to shore up their kicking deficiencies, but his struggles extended into this preseason and led the team to turn to Folk, who has disappointed since winning the job.Murray kicked for the Bucs in 2014, going 20-for-24 on field-goal attempts with a long of 55 yards. Foerster also shares an explicitly sexual invitation in an apparent message for his partner."Hey babe, miss you and thinking about you. How about me going into a meeting and doing this before I go? Watt's season has reportedly met the most unceremonious of endings. The Houston Texans defensive end has been diagnosed with a tibial plateau fracture in his left leg, an injury he suffered on the first defensive series of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports the injury will require season-ending surgery.Watt went down after losing his footing on an early play, and was soon carted off to the locker room with what was initially believed to be a knee injury. He later left NRG Stadium in an ambulance, crutches in tow.The 28-year-old sees this year's campaign end in Week 5 after back issues limited him to just three games last season. The five-time Pro Bowler came into Sunday's tilt with 13 tackles and a pair of pass breakups on the year. The Texans' defense took another hit moments prior to Watt's stroke of misfortune, as rush end Whitney Mercilus went down with a chest injury. He's since been ruled out for the remainder of the game.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

J.J. Watt is deified in Houston and by the NFL community at large, and rightfully so, but coverage of his worrisome knee injury in Sunday's game got downright creepy.NBC cameras doggedly chronicled just about every stage of Watt's injury treatment. There were the typical shots of the injured player painfully leaving the field, the sobbing Texans fans in the stands watching him go, and the trailing shots following Watt into the locker room. That's all pretty standard. But then it got weird.Footage emerged of Watt hobbling on crutches to board an ambulance in the team tunnel, which is certainly unusual when it comes to coverage. That was followed with a helicopter aerial shot of Watt's ambulance as it sped down the highway towards a hospital. This level of invasive detail is rarely offered in sports, which begged the question: was it all necessary? The exquisite and intrusive publicizing of Watt's injury became a talking point on Twitter, as fans expressed both amusement and disgust.

He did it again.Aaron Rodgers didn't have much time, but it was enough to pull off another miraculous comeback win over the Dallas Cowboys. This has become almost expected with the Green Bay Packers quarterback, who has become synonymous with never being counted out.Even one of Rodgers' most famous losses included an incredible comeback attempt, when he drove the length of the field on back-to-back Hail Mary throws against the Arizona Cardinals in the 2015 playoffs.Let's take a look back at Rodgers' four best comebacks and fit it in where Sunday's win ranks.4. 35-31 vs. Cowboys (2017)Largest Deficit: 21-7This Sunday's win does crack his top four comebacks, but doesn't go further than that.Rodgers' final drive included a third-down conversion he picked up with his own legs and a 12-yard touchdown toss to Davante Adams with 11 seconds remaining. He took the team 65 yards in 62 seconds for the team's third touchdown of the fourth quarter, keeping the Packers on track with a 4-1 record.3. 31-24 vs. Jets (2014)Largest Deficit: 21-3At the time of this 2014 comeback, Rodgers had never resurrected his team from more than 14 points down. A Geno Smith-led Jets squad jumped out to a 21-3 lead and had the Packers settling for field goals over touchdowns until Rodgers found Randall Cobb in the end zone with eight seconds remaining in the first half.Rodgers figured out the Jets' defense in the third quarter, throwing a pair of touchdowns to gain a 31-24 lead before the final frame. If the final quarter of this game wasn't scoreless, this could be ranked higher, but its an impressive feat nonetheless.2. 34-31 vs. Cowboys (2016)Largest Deficit: 3-0Clearly Rodgers didn't need to dig deep to convince himself and his team they could overcome an early 3-0 lead, but the finish to this game will be forever associated with the quarterback's greatness. After the Cowboys fought back from a 21-3 second-quarter deficit to tie the game at 31 with 35 seconds to go, Rodgers went to work. Facing third-and-20 from his own 32-yard line with 12 seconds remaining, number 12 rolled out of the pocket to find Jared Cook for an astounding sideline catch that set up a 51-yard game-winning kick. With the win sending the Packers to the NFC Championship, the lack of a major deficit is easy to overlook.1. 27-23 vs. Lions (2015)Largest Deficit: 20-0Having lost four of five games after an early season winning streak, it seemed like the Packers offense had stalled and their playoff chances were in doubt entering a Thursday night game in Detroit. The Lions put up 20 unanswered points to start the contest, keeping the Packers off the scoreboard for the first 39 minutes.Down 23-14 with seven minutes to go, Rodgers went on an 84-yard drive over four minutes, capping it off with a 17-yard touchdown run to pull within two points. The Lions killed most of clock before handing the ball back to Rodgers at his own 21-yard line with only 23 seconds to play. The game was supposed to be over, but a phantom facemask penalty with no time left gave Rodgers one more chance, 61 yards away from the end zone. On the final play, Rodgers threw one of the most perfect deep passes in NFL history, connecting with tight end Richard Rodgers for a Hail Mary touchdown.(Photo courtesy: Action Images)Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones appears to share the same opinion as President Donald Trump when it comes to kneeling during the "Star-Spangled Banner" and showing respect for the American flag.Jones stated emphatically following the Cowboys' heartbreaking loss to the Green Bay Packers that his organization will not tolerate any disrespect of the flag."We cannot in anyway give the implication that we tolerate disrespecting the flag," Jones told Brandon George of The Dallas Morning News. "We know that there is a serious debate in this country about those issues, but there is no question in my mind, that the (NFL) and the Dallas Cowboys are going to stand up for the flag.""But let me be real, real clear the thing that the National Football League needs to do and the Dallas Cowboys are going to do is stand for the flag. We’re going to do that. It’s the rules that are on the book in my opinion," Jones added.Taking a knee would be considered as disrespectful in Jones' estimation, according to Mike Finger of the San Antonio Express-News.Jones led the Cowboys in a team-wide kneel in linked arms before the national anthem in Week 3, then stood for the song itself. That decision was reached shortly after Trump called for NFL owners to fire any "son of a bitch" that knelt during the anthem during a Republican senate rally in late-September.Reports suggested that some Cowboys wanted to protest, which led to a passionate, team-wide discussion that decided their demonstration for Week 3. No Cowboy has knelt since, although two players did raise their fists after the anthem on Sunday.Jones says he was unaware of those actions, but he made it crystal clear to his players and staff as to where the owner stands."I don’t know about that," Jones said. "But if there is anything that is disrespectful to the flag we will not play. You understand? If we are disrespecting the flag we won’t play. Period. We’re going to respect the flag."Jones also revealed that he shared a recent phone call with Trump, whose campaign he personally donated a million towards during the 2016 presidential election, in which the President said this "could have all been resolved."Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Mike Zimmer remains optimistic Sam Bradford will see the field on Monday night. The Minnesota Vikings head coach "anticipates" the signal-caller will be under center when the team takes on the divisional rival Chicago Bears, according to Courtney Cronin of ESPN.Bradford hasn't seen a snap since suffering a knee injury in the Vikings' season opener, but gave the Minnesota faithful cause for optimism when he returned to practice earlier this week. Case Keenum has run the offense in his stead.Minnesota heads to the Windy City with an even record of 2-2, while the Bears have lost all but one of four games thus far. Meanwhile, Bradford's counterpart and Chicago's top pick in this year's draft, Mitchell Trubisky, will make his first career start on Monday.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Green Bay Packers rookie running back Aaron Jones may have needed a pair of injuries to get a shot in the backfield rotation, but he's quickly shown he has no intention of moving back to the bench.Jones was inactive for the Packers' first game of the season, and he didn't see the field in Weeks 2 or 3. Starter Ty Montgomery played more than 85 percent of the running-back snaps in each of the first three games of the season - and did well, scoring three touchdowns with 253 total yards. When Montgomery suffered a rib injury early in Week 4, he was replaced by backup Jamaal Williams, who had to suffer an injury of his own before Jones received his chance.Jones made sure he got noticed in his first taste of NFL play, rushing for 49 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.Owned in just over half of Yahoo leagues, fantasy managers were still hesitant to add Jones with Montgomery's Week 5 status coming down to Sunday afternoon. He ended up receiving the Week 5 start against the Dallas Cowboys over a healthy Williams, and compiled 125 rushing yards and a touchdown on 19 carries, with one 9-yard reception. As long as Montgomery's return timeline is so uncertain - estimates range from as soon as next week to some time next month - Jones' role as the backfield workhorse will remain in flux.Regardless, he's made a convincing case to continue being heavily featured as an early-down and likely goal-line back, potentially pushing Montgomery into a third-down/pass-catching role. The Packers will have two fantasy options out of their backfield once Montgomery returns. Matchups will determine whether Montgomery or Jones will be the most productive, but both need to be owned in all league formats.Managers with shares of Montgomery could spend the next week fielding offers for the injured back in hopes that a competing owner expects he'll return to his former role once healthy. Alternatively, they could keep him - and expect high RB2 production the rest of the way.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

If everything we thought about NFL teams before the season was true, there would be no point in playing the games.Once again this season, several teams who most had expected to be powerhouses - or at least very competitive clubs - have not lived up to the hype. Here are the five teams that have disappointed us the most through five weeks:5. Chargers (1-4)The AFC West is the toughest division in football, but the Chargers didn't give themselves much of a chance after a somewhat optimistic offseason. Losing their first four games by an average of 5.25 points each, Los Angeles' newest team has shown that its roster is not drastically weaker than its opponents. The team's execution, however, has been wildly disappointing.4. Steelers (3-2)Yes, the Steelers still have a winning record, but just barely. An embarrassing blowout loss to the Jaguars on Sunday paired with their overtime loss to the Bears in Week 3 has shown that the Steelers, who were projected as a top-three AFC team, are very susceptible to losing. Pittsburgh's offense was expected to put on a show every week, but without a 30-point output through five weeks, something needs to change.3. Titans (2-3)It's tough to say the Titans' most recent two losses are a true indication of their talent level as Marcus Mariota left Week 4 with a hamstring injury, but the quarterback isn't the whole team. Offseason additions to Tennessee's defense have not paid off as the team has allowed an average of 28.4 points per game through five games, giving up a total of 94 points to division opponents over two contests.2. Raiders (2-3)Maybe everyone jumped the gun on the Raiders being good again, or maybe they just bought in to their own hype too much. Either way, this is not the black and silver team we were expecting. The Raiders' Week 1 win over the Titans doesn't look nearly as impressive after the Texans and Jaguars thrashed Tennessee, and consecutive 10-point performances against the Redskins and Broncos is not acceptable with the weapons they have on the roster.1. Giants (0-5)This was supposed to be the best offense Eli Manning has ever had to work with, having Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shepard, and first-rounder Evan Engram to target. The offensive line, or lack thereof, has had other plans though. The weak blocking unit has essentially sabotaged every game the Giants have had, making it impossible for Manning to read the field, running backs to gain yards, or the team winning a game. With injuries suffered by Beckham, Marshall, and Shepard on Sunday, hope is dwindling even more.(Photos courtesy: Action Images)Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Cam Newton claims it was all just one big misunderstanding when he dismissed a female reporter's question about running routes.According to Newton, when he said it was "funny to hear a female talk about routes," he was actually trying to give Jourdan Rodrigue of The Charlotte Observer a sarcastic compliment."It was a lesson learned for me the whole week. My sarcasm trying to give somebody kind of a compliment turned in ways I never would have imagined," Newton said Sunday."But like I said, I'm a man of God, a man that has an unbelievable supporting cast of fans, great teammates, great coaches, as well as family members and friends that kept me up all week."Newton was thoroughly denounced all week for his sexist remark, which he apologized for. The NFL released a statement calling Newton "plain wrong" and "disrespectful" while the quarterback also lost a sponsorship.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. A pair of unemployed wide receivers saw an opening for a potential reunion Sunday - and submitted their applications through Twitter.Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson (formerly Chad Ochocinco) have been out of the league since 2010 and 2011, respectively, but both believe the New York Giants could use their help. Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall, and Sterling Shepard all suffered potentially serious injuries in Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, nearly wiping out the team's receiving corps and leading Owens and Johnson to reach out.
