Tennessee Titans running back DeMarco Murray and wide receiver Corey Davis are day to day with hamstring injuries, head coach Mike Mularkey told ESPN's Cameron Wolfe on Monday.Mularkey added he's uncertain about their statuses for Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.Murray rushed for 25 yards on nine carries, before Derrick Henry took over as the lead back during the Titans' 37-16 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. If Murray misses Sunday's contest, expect Henry to take on an even larger role in the running game.Davis caught one pass for 4 yards before leaving the game. The rookie wideout had a strong debut against the Oakland Raiders in Week 1, catching six passes for 69 yards.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim suggested running back David Johnson could return from a wrist injury sooner than anticipated during an appearance on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.Johnson was placed on injured reserve and was reportedly expected to miss eight-to-12 weeks after undergoing wrist injury. The superstar running back incurred the injury during a Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions. After speaking to Johnson, however, Keim feels confident that the timeline could be shorter."My conversation with David was you can’t listen to what everybody says about the length of time you’re going to miss because nobody can forecast that, especially when you’re a genetic freak like him," Keim said."We all heal differently, and I wouldn't be surprised if David heals faster than most when it comes to that injury."Johnson is arguably the NFL's most dynamic offensive player and his loss is a devastating loss for the Cardinals.Carson Palmer argued that Johnson's absence drastically changed the design and potency of the Cardinals' offense prior to their Week 2 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Chris Johnson, Kerwynn Williams, and Andre Ellington received carries, but couldn't replicate Johnson's nearly unprecedented production.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. The Indianapolis Colts officially hired former defensive end Robert Mathis as a "pass-rush consultant" and player development coach after he spent the past few months working with the defense in an unofficial capacity, according to the Colts' official site. The Colts' all-time sack leader retired this offseason after 14 seasons in Indy, and now he's excited to help other pass-rushers terrorize opposing quarterbacks."I think it's good therapy because you kind of wean yourself off the game," Mathis said in the spring when asked about the process of going from player to coach."It's really helping me. I just love the atmosphere. I love the locker room aspect, the team aspect. Just being around and giving my knowledge to the younger guys, I think everyone wins."It appears Mathis' expertise has already had an effect. The Denver Broncos were seemingly unstoppable during Sunday's 42-17 rout of the Dallas Cowboys, but offensive coordinator Mike McCoy wasn't satisfied."We should have put up 50," McCoy said to Michael Silver of NFL.com. "Look, I want to score every single time we have the ball, and then I want to score some more - that's my mentality, and that's how I approach it. I love our defense, and they're capable of carrying us, but I'm trying to give them as much of a cushion as I can. So I'm going to try to get the ball in the end zone, until (head coach Vance Joseph) tells me to stop."Trevor Siemian threw four touchdown passes in the game, while C.J. Anderson rushed for 118 yards and a score, and the Cowboys' defense couldn't make any stops.Receiver Demaryius Thomas, who caught six passes for 71 yards, believes the Cowboys - along with most NFC opponents - underrated the Broncos' offense entering the contest."I don't know if they expected that," Thomas said. "Every time we play an NFC team that's considered a powerhouse, people (underestimate) us, just like when we played the Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl. Usually, the game is in (the Cowboys') hands - they're running the ball and controlling the clock. We ended all that."At 2-0, the Broncos appear to be firing on all cylinders. A U.S. District Court judge denied the NFL's motion for a stay of the preliminary injunction of Ezekiel Elliott's six-game suspension Monday. The league is now awaiting a ruling from the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, after filing at that level last week.Judge Amos L. Mazzant III previously ruled that the Dallas Cowboys running back didn't receive a fundamentally fair hearing from the NFL during his appeal process, which was overseen by arbitrator Harold Henderson.Elliott was initially sanctioned for six games on Aug. 11, but his suspension was placed on hold indefinitely after Mazzant granted the NFLPA's request for an injunction on Sept. 8.Mazzant's ruling reads as follows, as transcribed by Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper:

Bills head coach Sean McDermott said Monday he's not considering making a switch from quarterback Tyrod Taylor to rookie Nathan Peterman despite Buffalo scoring just 24 points over the first two weeks of the season, according to ESPN's Mike Rodak."We all need to play better and it starts with me as the coach," McDermott said. "Tyrod is our starting quarterback and I expect him to respond this week."LeSean McCoy was kept mostly in check Sunday by the Carolina Panthers, and Taylor struggled to move the ball without the star running back producing at his normal level. The Bills scored just three points in the loss, with Taylor throwing for 125 yards and a paltry five yards per attempt.Taylor also failed to connect with rookie wide receiver Zay Jones on what could have been a game-winning score in the dying seconds. The wideout appeared to drift out of position, but the throw from Taylor left a lot to be desired."It takes more than one guy to win a game," McDermott added. "We're going to get that chance again and I hope it's Zay because I know he'll make that play."The Bills' lack of commitment to Taylor was a major storyline this offseason. Buccaneers star wideout Mike Evans has produced three straight 1,000-yard seasons to start his career despite being the only consistent receiving threat on Tampa Bay's offense. However, with free-agent arrival DeSean Jackson forcing defenses to respect his speed, Evans was delighted to find himself in one-on-one situations for most of Sunday's blowout win over the Chicago Bears."The last couple of seasons, the Bears double-teamed me crazy," Evans said, according to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times. "I probably saw maybe one or two double teams today. It was great. We had a lot of one-on-one opportunities. We have a lot of talent, so all we have to do beat the one-on-one matchups. I hope it's like this every week, but it's obviously not."Evans responded to his newfound opportunities by catching seven passes for 93 yards and a touchdown, while leading the Bucs in targets. The 24-year-old caught his 13-yard score against a single defender. He was able to beat an aggressive Marcus Cooper off the line and easily adjusted to the pass with no safety to worry about, twirling around and dragging his toes to stay in bounds.Based on the defense's look, head coach Dirk Koetter knew quarterback Jameis Winston wouldn't be able to resist throwing one up for his favorite target."I saw one-on-one coverage," Koetter said after the game. "I figured that's where Jameis was going to go with the ball. That's something we work on a lot, and Mike and Jameis have put a lot of time in that red-zone fade ball. Eighty-eight.That's the percentage of teams that end up sitting at home in January after losing their opening two games since the league expanded the playoffs in 1999.Meanwhile, eight teams have started the 2017 season 0-2 - with Monday night's game between the 1-0 Detroit Lions and the 0-1 New York Giants still to be played - so let's see if any have a chance to defy the odds and make the postseason.Chicago BearsWhy are they 0-2? Piling all the blame on Mike Glennon is harsh, but his turnover rate has been alarming and he hasn't even balanced it out with any discernible strengths. While Glennon was passable against the Falcons in Week 1, he still struggled to push the ball downfield and blew a last-minute chance to steal the win. Head coach John Fox, who remains loyal to Glennon, must share the blame for putting the quarterback in situations where he can make such game-altering mistakes. Can they recover? Sorry, Chicago. 2017 is already over for you. But don't worry - the rest of the campaign will be the Mitchell Trubisky show. The Bears should concentrate on bringing along their rookie quarterback rather than winning. Even if Chicago believes it can dig itself out of this hole, a brutal next three games means 0-5 is likely.Next three games: vs. Steelers, at Packers, vs. VikingsCincinnati BengalsWhy are they 0-2? The front office allowed its once-great offensive line to fall apart in free agency, Andy Dalton has severely regressed, and the skill positions haven't lived up to the hype (besides A.J. Green). Nine points over two games is an embarrassment, and firing offensive coordinator Ken Zampese was nothing more than a Hail Mary. Can they recover? Funnily enough, the Bengals and their putrid offense might not be dead just yet. The AFC isn't the strongest, and while a loss to Green Bay next week is probable, a shock win isn't out of the question. Two easier games follow against Cleveland and Buffalo, and if Cinci rides Joe Mixon and Green - and if the change at OC returns Dalton to his 2015 self - the team may get close to .500, though it likely won't be enough for a wild-card spot.Next three games: at Packers, at Browns, vs. BillsCleveland BrownsWhy are they 0-2? They're starting a rookie quarterback and opened the season with two divisional games against strong, opportunistic defenses in Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Growing pains for DeShone Kizer - and this young roster as a whole - were inevitable. The young quarterback has shown promise, but four turnovers in the loss to the Ravens were back-breaking. Missing rookie game-changer Myles Garrett didn't help, either. Can they recover? The Browns were always likely to start 0-2. The playoffs may be a long shot, but Cleveland has a realistic chance of going 3-0 over its next three games thanks to a soft schedule. Kizer will need to be reined in, however, for the Browns to stand a chance.Next three games: at Colts, vs. Bengals, vs. JetsIndianapolis ColtsWhy are they 0-2? Everyone knows Andrew Luck is on the sidelines with a shoulder injury, but even the star quarterback couldn't have saved the Colts during their dreadful Week 1 loss to the Rams. Chuck Pagano continues to struggle with the most simple in-game coaching decisions, and general manager Chris Ballard should be criticized for entering the season with Scott Tolzien as the starter and waiting until a week before the opener to address the position by trading for Jacoby Brissett. Can they recover? Not only did the offense look better with Brissett under center against the Cardinals, the defense also appeared much improved - though the only way it could have gone was up. The Colts fell apart in the fourth, however, and that's on Pagano. Indy is in a weak division and could be rescued by a returning Luck, but it seems they're headed for a third straight season outside the playoffs unless changes are made at head coach, or the veteran pivot returns for Week 3.Next three games: vs. Browns, at Seahawks, vs. 49ersLos Angeles ChargersWhy are they 0-2? The move to Los Angeles from San Diego has done nothing to lift the fourth-quarter curse that hangs over the Chargers. They blew late-game lead after late-game lead in 2016, and despite Philip Rivers' efforts, the trend has continued this year. Two kicking errors (one blocked, one missed) robbed the team of a chance at overtime in Week 1 and victory in Week 2. The talent is there; the luck definitely isn't.Can they recover? In any other division, the talented Chargers led by a quarterback such as Rivers would have a decent shot at becoming one of the 12 percent rather than the 88. But the rest of the AFC West sits at 2-0. Barring a miracle, the Chargers will be at the bottom of the division once more.Next three games: vs. Chiefs, vs. Eagles, at GiantsNew Orleans SaintsWhy are they 0-2? Once again, the defense's play has been atrocious. The secondary is talented but way too inexperienced, while the front seven only has one playmaker in Cameron Jordan. It's a cycle the Saints can't seem to get themselves out of, and Drew Brees alone can't carry this team, especially with a disappointing run game. Injuries to New Orleans' offensive line have been hard to deal with, but a Brees-led team starting 0-3 three years in a row would be unacceptable. Can they recover? With Brees, there's always a chance, but the door is almost closed. No one else in the division has lost yet, and a Week 3 defeat to Carolina would seal New Orleans' fate - and maybe head coach Sean Payton's, too.Next three games: at Panthers, vs. Dolphins, vs. LionsNew York JetsWhy are they 0-2? Because they want to be. In all seriousness, while the Jets' unexpected fight has shown that tanking is almost always a pipe dream, they simply lack the talent to pick up more than a handful of wins. Josh McCown has been serviceable, but he's too limited and the Jets' weapons are too unimposing. However, it's the other side of the ball that's really killing New York. The team's supposed strength has failed to live up to its modest expectations, allowing far too many big plays over two games. Can they recover? ... No. Just start scouting college quarterbacks right now.Next three games: vs. Dolphins, vs. Jaguars, at BrownsSan Francisco 49ersWhy are they 0-2? Unsurprisingly, a Brian Hoyer-led passing attack that has little beyond Pierre Garcon can't score points. Head coach Kyle Shanahan is an offensive genius, but he can't produce magic out of thin air. The defense has been surprisingly decent, though it fell apart in the fourth quarter against the Seahawks after shouldering the workload for most of the game. Can they recover? Unless the 49ers want to hand the keys to rookie C.J. Beathard, it's going to be Hoyer under center for the rest of the year. Either way, though, the team's ceiling is limited by its passing attack. Three winnable games are upcoming, but unless Shanahan has something up his sleeve, San Francisco will be planning for 2018 by October.Next three games: vs. Rams, at Cardinals, at ColtsCopyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. ATLANTA (AP) Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons picked up where they left off against the Green Bay Packers, building a big halftime on the way to a dominating victory Sunday night. The rematch of last season's NFC championship game was essentially a repeat: Ryan threw for 252 yards and a touchdown, Devonta Freeman had a couple of scoring runs, and Desmond Trufant raced to the end zone off an attempted pass by Aaron Rodgers that was ruled a fumble, leading the Falcons to a 34-23 victory over the Packers that wasn't really that close.Last season, Atlanta earned a trip to the Super Bowl by racing to a 24-0 halftime lead and a 31-0 edge early in the third quarter on the way to a 44-21 blowout of the Packers. In the first regular-season NFL game at $1.5 billion Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and the first sporting event with in which the facility's camera lens-like roof was open, the Falcons put on a show to mark the occasion. They were ahead 24-7 at halftime and 31-7 less than a minute into the third period.Unlike the Super Bowl , Atlanta (2-0) made sure this lead stood up.After struggling a bit offensively in a season-opening victory at Chicago that was preserved with a goal-line stand in the closing season, the Falcons dominated right from the start in an early showdown for conference supremacy. On the opening possession, Ryan guided a nine-play, 86-yard drive that was reminiscent of the league's highest-scoring team a year ago. Julio Jones hauled in two passes for 53 yards and the Falcons didn't get to third down until they were at the Green Bay 1. Freeman powered in from there to make it 7-0.Jones finished with five catches for 108 yards. The Packers (1-1) responded with a 75-yard drive of their own, capped by Ty Montgomery's 1-yard TD run. But it was downhill from there for Rodgers and the Green Bay offense, which was missing both of its starting tackles with injuries and lost receiver Jordy Nelson early on with a quadriceps injury.Atlanta led 17-7 after Freeman's second TD run from 2 yards out and Matt Bryant's 51-yard field goal. Then, the game totally got away from Rodgers and the Packers near the end of the first half. Three penalties in four plays pushed Green Bay back to its own 3 before Rodgers lofted a terrible pass down the right sideline that was picked off easily by Trufant at the 36.Ryan hit Mohamed Sanu with a 21-yard pass, setting up a 3-yard scoring pass to Tevin Coleman with 24 seconds remaining .On the second play of the second half, Trufant turned it into a rout .Rodgers was plastered by 2016 sack leader Vic Beasley Jr. attempting to throw, the ball wobbling out of his hand for what appeared an incomplete pass. But Trufant wisely scooped it up and scooted into the end zone for what was ruled a 15-yard touchdown. The call stood when the replay didn't show conclusively that the pass went forward. The Packers finally showed a bit of life with a couple of fourth-quarter touchdowns, including Rodgers' 300th career scoring pass .It wasn't nearly enough.INJURIESGreen Bay: Already short-handed up front, the Packers lost several more players during the game. Nelson was the most prominent injury, but also going down were defensive tackle Mike Daniel (hamstring) and receiver Randall Cobb (shoulder). In addition, backup safety Kentrell Brice was forced out by a groin injury.Atlanta: On the first touchdown of the night, right tackle Ryan Schraeder was knocked out of the game with a concussion. The Falcons also lost Beasley (hamstring) and defensive lineman Courtney Upshaw (ankle).UP NEXTGreen Bay: Return to Lambeau Field to face the Cincinnati Bengals (0-2) next Sunday.Atlanta: Travel to Detroit to take on the Lions (1-0), who face the New York Giants on Monday night.---Follow Paul Newberry on Twitter at www.twitter.com/pnewberry1963 . Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says that Roger Goodell's contract extension is not being delayed or affected by the suspension of Ezekiel Elliott. It was reported earlier Sunday that Jones has been impeding on Goodell's contract extension negotiation, though the Cowboys owner, as well as Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, denied the reporting."All of that is without any substance at all," Jones said about the report, according to the Dallas Morning News. "The exercise of looking at and extending our commissioner's contract is one that we keep really in tight."...I could understand why ironically we've got the Zeke issue at the same time that we're looking at extending Roger's contract, that he made the ruling. I see that. But every day I deal with conflicts of interest, and the commissioner deals with it every day. You just have to get used to that."Jones, who was reportedly furious about Elliott's initial suspension ruling, claimed that he's always been behind Goodell and that he's one of the commissioner's "biggest supporters".Goodell was reportedly nearing a five-year extension in August before Elliott's six-game suspension was announced.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Getting blown out by 25 points is never an easy pill to swallow. But for some of the New York Jets, the salt in the wound was watching Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch dance on the sidelines in the fourth quarter when the Raiders were up by 22."It irks my ever-living nerves," Jordan Jenkins said, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. "When I saw it happening, it was infuriating. ... That pissed me off. I'm an old-school guy. I don't like when things like that happen. That was embarrassing, losing like that and having Marshawn dance like that."Great player, but seeing that happen, that should infuriate the whole team. It should infuriate everybody and we should have a good response coming into next Sunday."While it's easy to understand Jenkins' frustration, Lynch has been carrying himself in the same manner for his entire career, so a solo sideline dance party should come as little surprise. If New York hopes to turn around its disastrous start, Jenkins and the rest of the Jets ought to focus on their next matchup instead of dwelling on Marshawn's moves.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. The second week of the 2017 season saw plenty of action after a surprisingly low offensive output in the opening slate of games, but that's not to say it was short on surprises. Here are six performances that had us doing a double take on the second Sunday of the season:6. LeGarrette Blount has one touch for zero yardsIt looks like the 2017 NFL season will have a new rushing touchdown champion. After scoring 18 touchdowns in 2016, Blount had a rare receiving score in Week 1, but had his role dramatically reduced against the Chiefs. Blount had no carries and only one catch for zero yards on Sunday while Darren Sproles and Wendell Smallwood took all the carries.5. Chris Jones decimates Eagles offenseIf you only know Jones as the guy who had an unfortunate incident at the 2016 Scouting Combine, it's about time to realize the kid can play.In the second game of his second season, the Chiefs defensive end notched three sacks, one interception, one pass defended, and two forced fumbles against the Eagles on Sunday, helping the team to a 27-20 win.4. Lynch finishes as Raiders' 3rd leading rusherThe Raiders beat up hard on the Jets Sunday, but Marshawn Lynch wasn't a huge factor in the 45-20 win. "Beastmode" had 12 carries for 45 yards and one catch with a touchdown, though his teammates had a better time out of the backfield.Related - Watch: Raiders returner Patterson plays RB, jogs in 43-yard TDBackup running back Jalen Richard had a huge day with 58 yards on six carries to go with 51 receiving yards on 2 catches, while receiver/return specialist Cordarrelle Patterson also had 57 rush yards on three carries. Both Richard and Patterson also scored rushing touchdowns as the Raiders got creative with their run game.3. Trevor Siemian torches Cowboys for 4 TDsFor a team supposedly led by their defense, the Broncos offense looked pretty damn good against the Cowboys, as Trevor Siemian threw four touchdown passes.Related: Broncos elevate to Super Bowl contenders again by alleviating weaknessesThe Cowboys defense looked like a stout unit in Week 1, keeping the Giants to three points, but Siemian had little issue carving up a secondary that was depleted by injuries. Eight different players caught at least one pass with no one going over 75 yards receiving as Siemian and co. became the first team to put 40 points on the Cowboys since 2013.2. 49ers average 8.4 yards per rush vs. SeahawksThe Seattle Seahawks may not be able to field much of an offensive line, but at the very least, they should be able to play defense after adding Sheldon Richardson to their already-dominant front seven. However, the 49ers, who had 51 rushing yards in Week 1, obliterated that front. With Carlos Hyde putting up 124 yards on 15 carries and Matt Breida tacking on four attempts for 35 yards, the 49ers averaged 8.4 yards per carry against the Seahawks. While it is still early in the season, it is somewhat alarming, considering Seattle had the fifth-best defense last season and were seventh-best against the run.1. Ezekiel Elliott runs for 8 yards on 9 carriesThe stresses of Elliott's off-field legal battle may be hurting his in-game production. The Cowboys star running back was held to a career-low eight yards on nine carries, wildly surpassing his previous low of 51 yards set in his rookie debut. Dallas was forced to somewhat abandon the running game after the broncos jumped out to an early lead, though Elliott could only contribute 14 yards in the passing game.Related: Where the heck did the Cowboys' offense go?It's no secret that the Broncos have a good defense, but their supposed weakness of interior run defense seems to have been fixed against the Cowboys.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Denver Broncos may have decimated the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, but they didn't finish the game unscathed, as Jeff Legwold of ESPN reports the Broncos are concerned that left tackle Garret Bolles suffered a torn Achilles.Bolles will undergo an MRI Monday, and, if his Achilles is indeed torn, he will almost certainly miss the remainder of his rookie season.Legwold's colleague reported slightly different news, as ESPN's Adam Schefter is saying that Bolles broke his ankle, citing a source. However, Bolles' wife is reporting something slightly more optimistic, that the injury her husband sustained is nothing more than a high-ankle sprain.

During a 16-game season, injuries and unforeseen circumstances can often decimate positional depth. Unfortunately, that certainly rang true during Sunday's action and now numerous teams will have to scramble to fill positions where they're sorely lacking. Not all needs are created equally, however. Here is a ranking of positional groups that need assistance, from least needy to most needy.4. Panthers' tight endsGreg Olsen was named to three consecutive Pro Bowls and operated as Cam Newton's safety valve, developing one of the best quarterback-tight end rapports in the league. However, Olsen broke his foot during Sunday's win against the Buffalo Bills and will be out indefinitely. The Panthers now need immediate help with Ed Dickson embodying the label of "replacement-level."It's nearly impossible to replace Olsen's impact and production but the market is full of players that can serve as reasonable, if unspectacular facsimiles. For the time being, the Panthers will rely on Dickson and a prayer.3. Cowboys' cornerbacksNolan Carroll and Chidobe Awuzie both suffered injuries during Sunday's loss to the Broncos, leaving the Cowboys with Anthony Brown, rookie Jourdan Lewis, and Bene Benwikere as their three healthy cornerbacks. To recap: Brown did a good job during his foray into pro football but he's being asked to function as a No. 1 option in his sophomore year, to say nothing of the rookie Lewis. Benwikere was roasted so badly by Julio Jones during a 300-yard performance last year that he was cut immediately by the Carolina Panthers following his dubious showing. This could get ugly quickly for a team with Super Bowl ambitions.2. Bears' wide receiversCameron Meredith and Kevin White suffered season-ending injuries before the year began in earnest, the latter of whom has only been able to play five games in three seasons. Even with Meredith and White healthy, the Bears may have been the least talented wide receiver cohort in the league; with them gone, the Bears are barely functional. The Bears can't even start their quarterback of the future, Mitchell Trubisky, in large part because they could ruin his confidence by working with a sub-par receiving corps. As it stands, Mike Glennon isn't faring much better. It's time for general manager Ryan Pace to aggressively scour the market.1. Seahawks' offensive lineThe enduring image of the Seahawks over the past two seasons has been Russell Wilson scrambling for dear life while his offensive line collapses before he can set his feet. Against a 49ers defense that finished last in most major statistical categories, Wilson had to resort to some improvisational magic in order to steer the Seahawks to a 12-9 victory.Germain Ifedi hasn't lived up to his first-round billing, Justin Britt is widely inconsistent at center, and Mark Glowinski often looks lost. Luke Joeckel is a reclamation project that reeks of desperation, while Rees Odhiambo may be the NFL's worst starting tackle, replacing George Fant, who was the worst player irrespective of position in 2016. In order to extend their championship window, the Seahawks need immediate help on the offensive line, or run the risk of seeing Wilson injured before the playoffs.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. With Dak Prescott in his second season and Ezekiel Elliott's suspension pushed off for the foreseeable future, the Dallas Cowboys offense was expected to be among the best in the league.Apparently nobody told the Denver Broncos that because the AFC West club absolutely pummeled the Cowboys, holding Dallas to just 268 yards in a 42-17 beatdown on Sunday.Elliott may as well have been serving his suspension, because the offense wouldn't have even noticed his absence in Denver. The reigning NFL rushing leader managed only eight yards on nine carries, by far the worst showing of his young career. The chart of his carries shows absolutely astounding results that seemed impossible for a back of his caliber.Carry #Result1no gain23-yard gain32-yard gain4no gain55-yard loss6no gain72-yard gain81-yard gain95-yard gainWithout the threat of a running game, Prescott had one of his worst performances as a pro, completing just 30-of-50 passes for 238 yards and two interceptions. His 4.8-yard average shows just how much the team struggled to get anything going down the field. The New York Giants' defense played well against the Cowboys last week as well, holding them to just one touchdown and four field goals in a 19-3 loss. Elliott topped the 100-yard mark and Prescott threw for 268 yards and a score, but they didn't look anything like the explosive outfit we saw in 2016.That continued Sunday with the Broncos' dominant performance, as the excellent secondary befuddled Prescott all game. While this Aqib Talib pick-6 came after the game was out of reach, the terrible decision by the second-year quarterback has to be concerning.

Through the first 30 games of the 2017 season, seven teams have picked up two wins with no losses - but not all can be considered top-seven teams just yet.Mostly based on the quality of opponents they have faced, here are three teams whose 2-0 record may be more a product of fortunate scheduling than elite performance.PanthersWeek 1: 23-3 vs. 49ers | Week 2: 9-3 vs. BillsThe Panthers had a chance to produce some spectacular highlights after returning a healthy Cam Newton to an offense that was set to feature Christian McCaffrey with the 49ers and the Bills on the slate. However, they have been sorely lacking splash plays through two contests.Newton does not look to be himself again and star tight end Greg Olson is out for significant time with a broken foot, so their 31-point output has some excuses built in. Newton had plenty of time to scan the field in the opener, but the former MVP completed just 14-of-35 passes for 171 yards against 2016's 32nd-ranked defense.Playing the Panthers former defensive coordinator Sean McDermott and the Bills in Week 2, most would think Carolina should have had a good idea of what to expect, yet could only score 9 points. For reference, the New York Jets scored 12.They may have the same record after two games as they did on their 15-1 run in 2015, but the team has a ton of work to reach that level of performance.RavensWeek 1: 20-0 vs. Bengals | Week 2: 24-10 vs. BrownsThe Ravens have certainly surpassed the expectations that most laid on them after suffering a barrage of injuries through the spring and summer, but they have yet to face a worthy opponent. In Week 1, the Bengals looked like one of the worst teams in the league, giving up five turnovers to the Baltimore defense while Andy Dalton was sacked five times. Cincinnati looked arguably worse in a 13-9 loss to the Houston Texans on Thursday night, verifying that the Ravens' dominant win was not a fluke. The Ravens' Week 2 defeat of the Browns didn't prove anything different, as the Baltimore defense still dictated the pace of the game, notching four interceptions for a second straight week while tallying three sacks.Eight interceptions in two weeks is beyond admirable, but until they face a well-balanced, playoff-worthy team, the jury is still out on the Ravens' chances of being an elite-level unit.SteelersWeek 1: 21-18 vs. Browns | Week 2: 26-9 vs. VikingsThe Steelers have always had the problem of playing down to the level of their opponents, and clearly Le'Veon Bell is still carrying some rust from missing training camp, but most were expecting a little more from their loaded offense.A three-point win over the Browns after their 1-15 season is a worrisome start for the offense. Ben Roethlisberger admitted that the Steelers were caught a tad off guard by DeShone Kizer's NFL debut, fitting into the theme of underestimating some opponents. The offense can assuredly take confidence from a 26-point output against the Vikings' stifling defense on Sunday, but defensively, keeping a Case Keenum-led offense under ten points isn't much to brag about. The Steelers should remain favorites to win the AFC North, but the team was expected to have improved in all areas of the game, and that has yet to be proven.(Photos courtesy: Action Images)Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons with a quad injury.Nelson incurred the injury after getting tangled with Falcons cornerback Robert Alford in the first quarter. The star receiver rode a stationery bike during the Packers' next offensive series, preparing for his return.Nelson did not record a catch prior to leaving the game.Losing Nelson for any period of time would be a crushing blow for the Packers' offense, who are already without starting offensive tackles David Bakhtiari and Bryan Bulaga.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Due to the finite number of games, perpetual risk of injury, and inordinate player turnover, the window for championship contention in the NFL is far narrower than the other major North American professional sports. Two years after capturing Super Bowl 50, the Denver Broncos were framed as a relic of yesteryear, plagued by poor quarterbacking and inferior run defense. The Broncos smashed that narrative to smithereens in a 42-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, with Trevor Siemian submitting a star performance, going 22-of-32 for 231 yards, four touchdowns, and a pick while their defense held Ezekiel Elliott to eight yards on nine carries.Siemian and the Broncos' quarterback group holistically have been the object of league-wide ridicule since Peyton Manning retired. Brock Osweiler bolted for Houston and devolved into a punchline, Paxton Lynch has seldom seen the field, but Siemian has done everything that could be reasonably asked of a seventh-round pick.Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas both openly criticized Siemian during his first year as a starter. Their verbal incisions certainly haven't been lost on him, as the 25-year-old played Sunday with the confidence and poise that belied his age and experience. No one is going to argue that Siemian deserves Pro Bowl honors or should be considering an elite quarterback, but on a team that is unconventionally built around an outstanding defense and consistent running game, he's more than capable of leading the Broncos back to the Super Bowl.

After a nightmare start to the season, some in the Cincinnati Bengals locker room are expecting Andy Dalton's head to be the next one to roll in Cincy.Despite having the support of the front office, some of Dalton's teammates, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, feel the signal-caller is already on a short leash. If Dalton was indeed benched or cut, Florio reports that some Bengals players would favor an "off the board" fill-in like unsigned QB Colin Kaepernick. While there has been zero indication from the team regarding an interest in Kaepernick's services, back-to-back miserable offensive performances and nine total points scored over two weeks may have Bengals management considering new options under center.Dalton has completed only 54.5 percent of his passes for 394 yards, four picks, and no touchdowns.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Just how bad has the start to the season been for the Indianapolis Colts? For the first time since 2012, The Westgate Superbook have made the Cleveland Browns 2.5-point road favorites for their Week 3 contest against the Colts. The same Browns who have only won once in their last 21 games are actually favored in a road game. It's also the first time in 21 games that the AFC North club has been favored. Both teams enter the contest at 0-2, but the Colts looked far better with quarterback Jacoby Brissett getting the start in Week 2 instead of opening day starter Scott Tolzien.Despite Brissett's performance, the oddsmakers apparently have more trust in Browns rookie DeShone Kizer than the former New England Patriots third-stringer.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. On the verge of a lost season at 0-2, the New Orleans Saints need to find a way to create hope for the years ahead. That means doing the unthinkable: It's time to move Drew Brees and commit to a truly disastrous season. It's early enough in the 2017 campaign that other 0-2 or 1-1 teams with quality defenses could be willing to pay the toll for an elite quarterback like Brees. But should the Saints wait too long, teams below .500 would likely trust their own luck in the 2018 draft, rather than parting with the current and future pieces necessary to acquire a 38-year-old future Hall of Famer.Brees is signed for only the current season, and the Saints won't be able to use the franchise tag to retain him. Brees, already a Super Bowl champion, could opt to seek out his second ring rather than return for a 13th season with a New Orleans team clearly trending in the wrong direction. The Saints are the NFL's fifth-oldest club by average age, and are heading toward a fourth consecutive losing campaign.A trade would free up what's left of Brees $19-million cap hit for 2017 (at the time of the deal) - money that could be used to lure next summer's top free agents. The team currently has the third-least amount of cap space in the league at just $2.2 million. The Saints have 44 players signed for 2018, with a projected $27.2 million in space without Brees, per Spotrac. With a plethora of other roster holes to address, opting for a younger quarterback would allow the team to address multiple areas of weakness instead of sinking the majority of its available funds into one position. The biggest issue - by far - is the defense. The Saints have allowed a league-worst 777 passing yards through two games, while their six passing touchdowns allowed are tied for the most. The unit has looked completely inept, having allowed career days to both Sam Bradford and Tom Brady.Only three starters on defense - defensive ends Cameron Jordan and Alex Okafor, and cornerback Marshon Lattimore - ranked inside the top 30 at their respective positions in Week 1, according to Pro Football Focus. There are simply too many soft spots for the progression of a couple players to make any meaningful difference. The defense is in need of a complete revamp, something that won't happen in just one season or with the funds currently available to the Saints.Brees has said he plans on taking things year by year following the 2017 season, neglecting to set a timeline for his inevitable final campaign. The Saints feature backup quarterbacks Chase Daniel and Taysom Hill on their current roster. Neither is a long-term option under center, but Daniel has shown the ability to be a potential bridge if need be.The offense has the pieces necessary to help along a young signal-caller without wasting his prime.Michael Thomas is one of the best young wide receivers in the NFL, and rookie running back Alvin Kamara has already shown flashes of being the future of the backfield. The New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers are who we thought they were - clear favorites for the No. 1 pick. The Buffalo Bills have looked better than most expected, and seem doomed to luck into a few wins en route to finishing among the league's mediocre sides. Even the Jacksonville Jaguars are 1-1, though their win is looking like a fluke after a horrendous Week 2.The 2017 NFL season is open for the Saints to jump headfirst into the tank war. With Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson all expected to be available at the top of the 2018 draft, it's high time for the team to start fresh with a new franchise quarterback.(Photos courtesy: Action Images)Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Younghoe Koo won the Los Angeles Chargers kicking job out of training camp, but he may not make it to Week 3 after missing a last-second field goal for the second straight game. The 23-year-old had a 44-yard attempt to win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, but pushed the kick wide to the right, giving the road team the victory. In Week 1 against the Denver Broncos, Koo's 44-yard potential game-tying field goal was blocked short with one second left.
