Twitter does not like the Rams' mismatched uniforms
So, the Los Angeles Rams tried a new uniform combination on Sunday - and the early reviews weren't great. The Rams kept their classic white and blue look from Weeks 1 and 2 on their helmets and pants, but combined that with their gold striped jerseys from recent years. The mismatching was noticeable.

Gase dismisses idea of benching Cutler after Saints shut out Dolphins
Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase shot down the idea of making a change at quarterback after Jay Cutler failed to lead the offense to a single point Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.Gase acted like the suggestion of benching Cutler for backup Matt Moore was "absurd," according to Jason Lieser of The Palm Beach Post."It's not time to panic. We've been way worse than this," said Gase, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.Cutler looked solid in the Dolphins' first possession, but ended the opening drive in London with an ugly red-zone interception. After that, the Dolphins were unable to get any rhythm on offense, with Cutler struggling to get the ball downfield."It's orchestrated chaos out there," Cutler said after the game, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. The scoreless showing by the Dolphins on Sunday follows a humiliating 20-6 loss to the New York Jets in Week 3.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Kamara shows why Saints need to move on from Peterson
If it wasn't clear before, Alvin Kamara once again highlighted that he's the best running back on the New Orleans Saints' roster in a hugely impressive display during Sunday's 20-0 destruction of the Miami Dolphins. The Saints' offense has always been at its best when head coach Sean Payton has exciting, dynamic, versatile toys to use - and Kamara is clearly his new favorite. The rookie was the guy Sunday for New Orleans, while Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson were mostly afterthoughts, especially Peterson.Kamara did most of his damage through the air, catching 10 passes for 71 yards, including this 12-yard touchdown to put the game away in the fourth quarter:

Report: Group of owners, players met in N.Y. to discuss protests
After a weekend in which nearly every NFL team demonstrated in some form either before or during the national anthem, a group of players and team owners met Tuesday in a boardroom at the league offices in New York to discuss what to do next, Don Van Natta Jr. and Seth Wickersham of ESPN report. The confidential meeting included Devin McCourty and Matthew Slater of the New England Patriots, Chris Long of the Philadelphia Eagles, Jason McCourty, Christian Kirksey, and Randall Telfer of the Cleveland Browns, Jonathan Casillas of the New York Giants, and Kelvin Beachum of the New York Jets. They were invited to attend by NFL VP of football operations Troy Vincent. NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith learned of the meeting too late to change his plans in order to attend, forcing some players to drop out of the meeting.Owners from the Patriots, Giants, Eagles, Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Miami Dolphins joined them and sat among the players at the table.Owners expressed concern with angry fan bases and disappointed sponsors, while players acknowledged many team owners in attendance publicly supported President Donald Trump before his recent criticisms of the NFL, which led to the league-wide protests. For the owners, their primary concern was a battle with Trump could jeopardize the sport's popularity and divide fans."This could kill football and end our business," an owner said, according to the report. In all, the discussion of how to proceed regarding the protests, owners, coaches, and executives know they cannot control how players choose to express themselves."For the first time, the owners are afraid of the players," Smith said after he was briefed on the meeting. "It has less to do with money and it has more to do with control. The owners are used to being in control - and they aren't on this. They know it. They hate it."While the two sides didn't reach a consensus on how to approach the subject entering Week 4, they reached a new level of understanding."I think both sides got to walk away with an understanding of how each other felt," McCourty said. The first game of the week, Thursday's contest between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears, featured both teams standing for the anthem with their arms linked. On Sunday, in the first game of the day in London, England, three members of the Miami Dolphins kneeled during the anthem. A large group of New Orleans Saints sat on the bench during the anthem in Week 3, but the team announced they would kneel before and then all stand during "The Star-Spangled Banner" in Week 4.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Prescott, Goff exchange praise ahead of Cowboys-Rams game
If the 2016 NFL Draft took place today, Jared Goff and Dak Prescott would face very different fortunes. Still, ahead of Sunday's matchup between the upstart Los Angeles Rams and the Dallas Cowboys, the two pivots expressed admiration for how each other's games have grown.Goff was selected first overall by the Rams but struggled miserably during his debut season, while Prescott, taken in the fourth round, earned Pro Bowl and Offensive Rookie of the Year honors while starring for the Cowboys. The Rams QB has since shown immense improvement, and Prescott has taken notice."You get picked No. 1 for a reason," he said of Goff to Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News. "I watched him in the Thursday night game last week. He's slinging the ball. He's got some weapons, and he's doing a great job this year."Goff returned the favor, remarking on Prescott's spectacular ascent after emerging as a star when Tony Romo suffered an injury during the 2016 preseason."To be honest with you, I was happy for him," Goff said. "Very happy for him. I know his background, that he was a fourth-round pick or whatever, and he was an underdog. His ability to go out there and do what he did last year, I was very happy for him, mainly because of the type of guy he is."Sunday's game will also feature two of the NFL's young premier running backs in Cowboys All-Pro Ezekiel Elliott and Rams standout Todd Gurley. Oakland Raiders wide receiver Michael Crabtree has been downgraded to doubtful for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.Crabtree was previously deemed questionable with a chest injury. The wide receiver was a limited participant in Wednesday's and Thursday's practice sessions, but sat out Friday.Crabtree suffered the injury during Sunday's loss to the Washington Redskins, after getting leveled in the open field during the fourth quarter. If Crabtree is ruled out, expect Seth Roberts to see more targets in the passing game. It's a difficult development for the Raiders, who sport an identical 2-1 record to the Broncos, in what is expected to be a pivotal divisional game.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Saquon Barkley could be NFL's next highlight-reel superstar
Todd Gurley in 2015, Ezekiel Elliott in 2016, Leonard Fournette in 2017. It seems every year there's a running back coming from college to the pros who turns out to be the next great runner. But there's only one Saquon Barkley.Penn State's rushing phenom is only five games into what many believe will be his final year of college football, but the 20-year-old business major has already shown he's more than just a really good football player - he's a star.Barkley got into unreal shape this season, going through near-inhuman workouts over the summer, and the effort has paid off. Whereas some players simply appear more athletic by hitting the gym, Barkley added a new gear and a surreal combination of athletic skills that will keep him in headlines at the pro level. There's a difference between stars like Barkley who can electrify the gridiron and those who are just very good at their jobs. It's not an easy task to keep filling highlight reels every week, but, similar to the likes of Odell Beckham Jr., Cam Newton, and Marshawn Lynch, there's something about the way he produces that makes it impossible to stop watching. In Saturday's win over Indiana, he took the opening kickoff 98 yards to the end zone for a dazzling score that will live on every "Plays of the Week" list for the next seven games. While kickoffs likely won't be on Barkley's list of duties at the NFL level, he'll be asked to catch the ball out of the backfield, and he can do that just fine.

Broncos, Raiders explain challenges of facing Mack, Miller ahead of matchup
Khalil Mack and Von Miller finished first and second, respectively, in Defensive Player of the Year voting last season. With the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos sporting identical records ahead of Sunday's pivotal divisional clash, both teams outlined the difficulties in stopping the superstar pass-rushers.Mack has been in top form, recording 16 tackles and two sacks, while Miller is playing some of the best football of his career, with 12 tackles and three sacks. Miller and Mack grade out as the second- and third-best edge rushers by Pro Football Focus thus far, and both teams are having trouble figuring out how to subdue their opponent."They've competed well against the speed-rushers," Broncos head coach Vance Joseph said to ESPN's Jeff Legwold. "That's a huge issue in this league, blocking speed-rushers, and obviously Mack is a special player. We have a game plan to block Mack - it won't be on just those guys to block him one-on-one all the time. But again, you can't help both guys, from time to time they're going to have to do their job and block him one-on-one."Several Raiders also explained why Miller has been so dominant throughout his career."It's pretty self-explanatory," Mack said. "Von's got a hell of a get-off, and he can bend that corner like nobody else in the league. .. I'm more of a physical guy in that approach - not taking that away from him - but that's what I utilize the most, in most cases."The Raiders' offense remains in awe of Miller, as well."You can’t pinpoint one thing, because he can do everything,” Raiders left tackle Donald Penn said of Miller to Ron Kroichick of the San Francisco Chronicle. "He plays the run, he can rush the passer, he drops into coverage. He can change direction like a DB and he’s fast like some linebackers. He gets a great jump off the line.""It’s freakish," Raiders quarterback Derek Carr said Wednesday. "I was like, 'Do I still do my drop?' What do you do? ... Man, he’s an amazing player."With a chance to ascend through the hotly contested AFC West, both the Broncos and Raiders will be keenly aware of where Mack and Miller are, on every possession.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. 5 key individual matchups to watch in Week 4
theScore's Michael McClymont breaks down five of the most important in-game matchups ahead of Week 4.Michael Crabtree vs. Aqib TalibThere is no guarantee that Crabtree will play, as he did not practice Friday after suffering a chest injury Monday night. If he does, though, it will be his first meeting with Talib since the Broncos corner snatched his gold chain off his neck on Jan. 1.Talib won that bout of mental warfare, the Broncos held the Raiders receiver to five catches and 47 yards, and Denver came away with the W.No doubt Crabtree has been waiting for an opportunity for some payback since Talib punked him.Taylor Lewan vs. J.J. WattHow about this for a matchup of best on best? Watt, the Texans' star defensive end, will go head to head with Lewan of the Titans, considered one of the top left tackles in the game.Lewan allowed just one sack in 16 games last season and has a spotless record after three games this year. Watt, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, has yet to record a quarterback sack in 2017, but expressed little concern about that statistic earlier this week. And if Watt does beat Lewan on his way to quarterback Marcus Mariota, he'll do so with a broken finger on his left hand. The matchup between these two giants could go a long way in deciding a game between AFC South rivals with playoff aspirations.DeShone Kizer vs. Vontaze BurfictBurfict's back and he's got his sights set on a rookie QB.The Bengals linebacker will be on the field Sunday after serving a three-game suspension for an illegal hit in the preseason. On the other side of the ball will be Kizer. Though he's already experienced what the AFC North has to offer after games against the Steelers and Browns, he'll now have to contend with one of the fiercest players in the league. Both the Browns and Bengals are 0-3 and desperate for a win. A victory may hinge on whether Kizer can avoid Burfict, and whether the oft-suspended defender will be in top form after three weeks away.Travis Frederick/Zack Martin vs. Aaron DonaldConsidered the best linemen in football, center Travis Frederick and right guard Zack Martin will face what might be the best interior defender in the league Sunday in Rams star Aaron Donald.Donald is often used up and down the line, so both Martin and Frederick should have their share of individual battles with the 280-pound dynamo. The success of the Cowboys' running game, and the protection of quarterback Dak Prescott, hinges on their ability to shut down the tackle.Since ending his holdout after one week of regular-season play, Donald hasn't racked up the stats, but he always makes his presence felt.Running back Ezekiel Elliott has yet to have a standout game this season, and with Donald taking up space in the middle of the line, the going may be even tougher for him Sunday.Kirk Cousins vs. Marcus PetersCousins looked like the quarterback who's thrown for back-to-back 4,000-yard seasons last week, but that was against an unimpressive Raiders secondary. Cousins and the Redskins face a stiffer test this week from the undefeated Chiefs and a defensive backfield that features a ballhawk in Peters.Peters shared the league lead in picks in 2015 and ranked second in that category in 2016. He already has an interception after three games of action this year.Without Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson at his disposal, Cousins has been careful with the ball this season as he continues to develop his rapport with pass-catchers Terrelle Pryor, Josh Doctson, and Jamison Crowder. The Redskins are coming off a resounding win over the Raiders and are aiming to prove they should be considered among the league's best. The Dallas Cowboys' demonstration ahead of and during the national anthem last week appears to have been a one time thing. The entire team, including coaches, owner Jerry Jones, and his family, locked arms and took a knee on the field before the playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner." Together, they then stood and remained locked in arms during the anthem. The Cowboys kneeled before the anthem as a sign of unity following critical comments about players who protest the anthem made by President Donald Trump. Though Jones suggested afterwards that it could serve as a template for protests going forward, the Cowboys don't plan on replaying the scenes of a week ago."We're going to stand," said receiver Dez Bryant to Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News. "We're going to stand and put our hand over our heart and we're going to do what we did before."Ya'll know what that was, that was just a response to Trump. DeMarcus Ware and Demarcus Lawrence share a given name and, as a result, Lawrence is often compared to Ware, a Dallas Cowboys legend. However, three games into the 2017 season, Lawrence is making a name for himself. The four-year pro leads the NFL in sacks with 6.5. His three-sack performance against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3 earned him NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors and clinched the NFC Defensive Player of the Month award. With that kind of play, Lawrence is conjuring memories of Ware, who wreaked havoc as a Cowboys pass-rusher for nine seasons."I thought I saw a flash of myself," Ware said after Lawrence's Week 1 breakout, according to Todd Archer of ESPN."He's coming along and you can see how much he has matured. He's maturing to the point where's he's not a DeMarcus Ware lookalike, it's Demarcus Lawrence. He's becoming his own man."In Ware's fourth season with the Cowboys in 2008, he recorded a career-high 20 sacks, 2.5 short of the single-season record. The two-time Pro Bowler checked into a treatment facility after being sanctioned.Martin can be activated after Sunday's game against the New York Giants, but Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter is no rush to bring him back."Well, to be honest with you, I’m worried about Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and when Monday comes, we’ll worry about Monday," Koetter said via JoeBucsFan.com."Because every Monday, or every day after a game, (G.M.) Jason (Licht) and I get together and, you know, Jason’s got his ideas on what roster changes have to go. There is that possibility for next week. And, you know, if we are going to bring Doug back on Monday, then we're going to have to make room somehow. And that could be dictated by injury this week, so that’s why, you know, we’ll worry about it on Monday."Jacquizz Rodgers and Peyton Barber have featured in Martin's absence, but neither player has taken command of the role through two games. For the time being, it would be a surprise to see Martin resume starter responsibilities in Week 5.
