The Baltimore Ravens signed free-agent offensive tackle Austin Howard, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Howard inked a three-year deal worth $16 million, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who adds the lineman will earn $5.5 million in 2017 with team options for 2018 and 2019.Howard - who was recently released by the Oakland Raiders - was in Baltimore on Friday to take a physical. The 30-year-old will likely slide into the starting right tackle spot, replacing Rick Wagner, who left in free agency. The Ravens have already lost center John Urschel (retirement) and rookie guard Nico Siragusa (knee injury), so adding more bodies to the offensive line was a priority. While Howard struggled last year, even alongside the strong talent on the Raiders' line, he represents an upgrade over projected starter James Hurst.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Miami Dolphins are afraid quarterback Ryan Tannehill will require season-ending knee surgery for the injury he suffered during Thursday's practice, sources close to the situation told ESPN's Jeff Darlington and Adam Schefter. However, no decision has been made about the potential surgery, sources said.Instead of undergoing the procedure, Tannehill reportedly could elect to sit out for six-to-eight weeks in order to rest his knee before attempting a return to the field.During Thursday's practice, Tannehill scrambled outside of the pocket and planted his leg awkwardly before falling to the ground.Watch: Tannehill appeared to plant left leg before falling in painInitial reports suggested he'd avoided any structural damage to his knee. However, multiple sources then told Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald that Tannehill's MRI was inconclusive. The quarterback partially tore his ACL last season, which forced him to miss the team's final three regular-season games and their lone playoff game.Though Matt Moore is currently projected to take over for Tannehill, the Dolphins could explore external options. Jay Cutler reportedly would be open to delaying his broadcast role at FOX in order to suit up for Miami.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Tony Romo enjoyed a very successful career with the Dallas Cowboys but was never able to lead "America's Team" to the Super Bowl during his tenure. While many point toward the prolific quarterback for the team's struggles, owner Jerry Jones placed the blame elsewhere Thursday evening."That one's on me," Jones said during the broadcast of the annual Hall of Fame Game, per Will Brinson of CBS Sports. "I should have had a better supporting cast around him."Romo qualified for the playoffs four times with the Cowboys, most recently in 2014 when they topped the Detroit Lions in the opening round. That set up a date with the Green Bay Packers and a trip to the NFC Championship Game on the line. With the Cowboys trailing the home team by five late in the final quarter, Romo completed an incredible pass to Dez Bryant on fourth-and-2 to set Dallas up on the 1-yard line. Upon video review, the officials ruled Bryant did not catch the ball, turning it over to the Packers on downs and effectively ending the game. After missing the start of the 2016 season due to injury, Romo was supplanted in the starting lineup by Dak Prescott and opted to retire at season's end to join CBS Sports as a broadcaster.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones once again came to the defense of Ezekiel Elliott on Thursday amid the league's ongoing investigation into a domestic violence allegation against the running back. This time, though, he also suggested the NFL has been looking into something else instead."The domestic violence is not an issue. Zeke has had some other things that have been looked at," Jones said on NBC's broadcast Thursday, according to Will Brinson of CBS Sports.Jones previously stated that the NFL has all the evidence it needs to make a decision about whether to discipline Elliott, and hopes a result is imminent."I would really hope it would be immediately," Jones said.Related - Report: Elliott met with Goodell in late JuneA report Thursday indicated Elliott had a late June hearing with commissioner Roger Goodell as part of the NFL investigation. Ezekiel Elliott met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in late June as part of the league's investigation into the domestic violence allegation against the player, NBC's Michele Tafoya reported Thursday.Tafoya's report contrasts a July 28 story from Deadspin's Dom Cosentino that indicated Goodell wasn't involved in any of the disciplinary proceedings concerning the Dallas Cowboys running back.Elliott has yet to be sanctioned by the league. It was reported Monday that the NFL isn't expected to make a decision this week, as Goodell's waiting on four outside advisers who attended the hearings to finish their work before determining whether Elliott will be sanctioned."My hope is that Zeke is with us opening night," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on NBC's broadcast Thursday. He's vehemently defended Elliott throughout the investigation.Elliott was never arrested or charged.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Ryan Tannehill may not be in the clear just yet.Countering an earlier report that stated the Miami Dolphins quarterback had avoided any structural damage to his knee, Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald cites multiple sources indicating the MRI Tannehill underwent following Thursday's practice was actually inconclusive.Further tests are still required and all options, including the possibility of surgery, reportedly remain on the table.Tannehill seemingly re-injuring the same knee in which he partially tore his ACL last year, an ailment that forced him to miss the final three games of the regular season and Miami's lone playoff contest, was a major cause for concern earlier in the day Thursday.Watch: Tannehill appeared to plant left leg before falling in painThe initial report provided some incredibly positive news on that front, but it now appears to be more of a fluid situation as player and team await the results of additional medical evaluations.Longtime backup Matt Moore will step in to lead the Dolphins' first-team offense for the time being. Should Tannehill be forced to the sidelines for any length of time, Miami would presumably respond by weighing its options on the trade market or in free agency.Related: 5 options for Dolphins if Tannehill misses time with injuryTannehill had been enjoying one of the more efficient seasons of his career following the arrival of head coach Adam Gase in 2016. Ifedi reportedly was without a helmet at the time and Clark punched him in the face, which led to a massive fight between the Seahawks' offensive and defensive players. After the skirmish, Ifedi was attended to on the sideline.Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was predictably dismayed."I'm disappointed we had a couple guys get after it today," Carroll said via ESPN's Sheil Kapadia. "There is no room for fighting in football. It is not part of this game, not supposed to be part of this game. And we frown upon that very heavily, so real disappointed that that happened today. Malcolm Jenkins has seen enough.Discussing the league's most controversial free-agent case Thursday, the Philadelphia Eagles safety put NFL teams on blast for the increasingly apparent reasoning behind the soft market for Colin Kaepernick's services."This is just some other teams being, quite honestly, cowards, to say that they're afraid of backlash to sign someone to make their team better when fans' input has never been in the equation when it comes to signing people in the past," Jenkins told Martin Frank of delawareonline.com. "It's certain owners' way of making an example out of (Kaepernick) to discourage anybody else from doing what he did."Jenkins' comments come just days after the Baltimore Ravens, who admittedly have interest in the free-agent signal-caller, oddly provided some insight into their decision-making process. Most notably, at the same media availability where owner Steve Bisciotti stated that he didn't like Kaepernick's national anthem protests and wasn't sure he'd help the team win, team president Dick Cass revealed that the Ravens are reaching out to fans and sponsors about the potential move.A report from ESPN's Dianna Russini then indicated Wednesday that both head coach John Harbaugh and general manager Ozzie Newsome support the idea of signing Kaepernick, but that the pair was getting resistance from Bisciotti.Newsome later released a statement denying any such idea.Kaepernick has been unable to generate much free-agent interest despite being a bright spot for an otherwise talent-deficient 49ers offense in 2016. Starting 11 games after working his way back from offseason surgeries, the 29-year-old recorded 2,241 passing yards for 16 touchdowns and just four interceptions while adding another 468 yards and two scores on the ground.- With h/t to Pro Football TalkCopyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Aaron Rodgers won't be going anywhere for as long as Green Bay will have him.Discussing his future with reporters Thursday, the Packers' star quarterback touched on the allure of potentially playing his entire career in Title Town. In doing so, he made reference to a trio of legends from other sports who've donned just one uniform."It's being a sports fan and watching some of my favorite all-time players either not finish in the place they started or the place where you fell in love watching them play - or they did," Rodgers said, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN."And seeing how different the memory is of those players as a fan, and seeing some of my favorite players growing finishing up now or have finished up in the last two or three years - the Derek Jeters, the Kobe Bryants, the Tim Duncans - doing it their entire career in one place, that makes things pretty special. So again, I'm a realist as well. I have to play well, the team has to want to bring me back, but I've said I'd like to finish things here where we started."Rodgers reiterating his desire to remain with the Packers for the entirety of his pro career came on the same day that fellow superstar Tom Brady turned 40 years old.Can Rodgers, now 33, be the next quarterback to defy the odds and continue into that age range?"I do think it's realistic," he said. "I hope it's in this locker room, though. That would mean it's been at a high level. Like I said, hopefully Dec. 2 of 2024 - help me out, 2023. Thank you."A first-round pick in the 2005 draft, Rodgers sat behind Brett Favre for three seasons before finally getting his opportunity to step in.He hasn't looked back in the nine years since, posting a 90-45 record over 135 starts, leading Green Bay to the Super Bowl XLV title and making a case for himself as one of the best quarterbacks the game has ever seen. The Packers would undoubtedly be thrilled to have Rodgers stick around and even begin to approach Brady's mind-boggling longevity.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill injured his left leg at training camp Thursday on a non-contact play. It's the same knee in which Tannehill suffered a partially torn ACL last December, forcing him to miss his team's brief playoff run.Early indications are that Tannehill avoided any sort of structural damage, but it remains unclear whether he'll miss any sort of extended time. Here are five options for the Dolphins in the event they need to make a move at quarterback:Elevate Matt Moore to starterMoore started in Tannehill's place for the final three games of the 2017 season, completing 52-of-82 pass attempts for 674 yards and eight touchdowns to three interceptions.Moore was less impressive in the Dolphins' wild-card loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, connecting on 29-of-36 attempts for 289 yards, one touchdown, and one interception - much of which came after he took a horrifically violent hit from Bud Dupree and somehow remained in the game. Some consider Moore one of the better backups in the NFL, and he's the obvious choice to replace Tannehill. But it's difficult to imagine the Dolphins winning a Super Bowl, or even a playoff game, with the 32-year-old career backup under center.Trade for Brock OsweilerLooking solely at Osweiler's play from last year, Dolphins fans would understandably see this as a less-than-ideal option. But that's before considering some of the less obvious factors in the equation.Osweiler wasn't thought to be part of this year's plan when the Browns acquired him in a salary-dump trade from the Texans. All he's done in the few months since is impress the coaching staff at every turn, earning himself a training-camp roster spot and what would appear to be a good chance at the starting job.Since Cleveland would probably still rather turn to DeShone Kizer or Cody Kessler, young talents who have more of a future with the still-rebuilding club, it's fair to assume that Osweiler will remain available. Why not pair him with Adam Gase, who was the offensive coordinator for two of Osweiler's four seasons in Denver?Sign Colin KaepernickThe Dolphins represent an intriguing landing spot for Kaepernick - not only because the offense crafted around Tannehill appears to be a good fit for Kaepernick's similar skill set, but also because team owner Stephen Ross was supportive of Dolphins players who participated in national-anthem protests last season.Addressing whether Kaepernick's been blackballed by NFL owners this offseason, Ross had this to say last week, according to the Palm Beach Post:"I would sure hope not. I know a lot's been written about it, but you know owners and coaches - they'll do anything it takes to win. If they think he can help them win, I'm sure - I would hope they would sign him."Lure Jay Cutler out of retirementCutler has repeatedly downplayed the possibility of making a quick return to football, insisting he's content to move on and begin a broadcasting career. And that may be the case.If one situation could entice him to end his retirement before it can truly begin, however, this might be it.Gase's work as Bears offensive coordinator in 2015 helped Cutler enjoy one of the most efficient seasons of his 11-year career. The veteran signal-caller's familiarity with the system would allow for a seamless transition, the timing of Tannehill's injury gives him an opportunity to get acclimated, and the Dolphins' offense provides a strong supporting cast.Miami has more than enough cap space to make it worth his while, too.Lure Peyton Manning out of retirementAccording to Archie Manning, Gase sent a text to Peyton Manning, who retired after winning Super Bowl 50 to cap the 2015 season, after Tannehill's injury in December 2016. Gase asked about Peyton's interest in returning to football. The text read "Hey 18, Tannehill went down," Archie told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. "I think he's going to miss some time. The first question I'm going to get at the press conference in the morning is if I'm going to try to bring you to Miami. What do you want me to tell them?"Gase was offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos during two seasons Manning spent with the team. In 2013, Manning threw an NFL-record 55 touchdown passes in Gase's offense. Now 41 years old, Manning is highly unlikely to return to the field. But it can't hurt to ask (again).Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

The Miami Dolphins are thinking the same thing as the rest of the football world.Following Ryan Tannehill's injury at practice Thursday, where the quarterback appeared to suffer a knee injury on a non-contact play, Colin Kaepernick's name came up within the Dolphins front office, ESPN's Josina Anderson reports.Any decision on adding a free agent, Kaepernick or otherwise, would have to wait until the Dolphins receive more information on Tannehill's status. It's only logical the club would weigh its options, as Miami is fearing the worst, reports Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald.Kaepernick is far and away the most intriguing quarterback available. His lengthy time on the free-agent market has made for a controversial topic, as many believe he's struggled to generate interest because of the reaction to his national anthem protests from last year.Kaepernick played at a relatively high level after returning from a series of offseason surgeries in 2016, completing 59.2 percent of passes for 2,241 yards for 16 touchdowns, and just four interceptions.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver Corey Davis will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of a hamstring injury suffered in training camp, the team announced Thursday.A highly-touted first-round talent out of Western Michigan, Davis joined the Titans with the expectation that he'd be quick to earn a role as Marcus Mariota's top target. He'd presumably continue on that path if the injury is minor, but any sort of lengthy absence would be a setback.A timetable for his return should be established when the team medical staff receives the results of the tests. The 22-year-old being forced to the sidelines will at least temporarily result in an increased practice workload for veteran free-agent addition Eric Decker and third-round pick Taywan Taylor.Davis was selected with the No. 5 overall pick after a stellar college career in which he set Mid-American conference records for receptions (331), receiving yards (5,278), and touchdown catches (52).Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Todd Gurley's performance in 2016 was one of the NFL's bigger disappointments. Now, he's looking to make up for his sophomore slump in 2017, and then some. The Los Angeles Rams running back said Wednesday on SiriusXM NFL Radio he has lofty expectations for his production this season."Honestly, I never was the guy to really do goals because if I say one thing and it doesn't happen, people would be (negative)," Gurley said, according to Sporting News' Alex Marvez. "But on my key chain it has 1,500 (rushing yards) and 1,000 receiving."Obviously, every running back wants to have 1,000 (rushing). That’s the big goal. The more yards you can have, the better position I can have to help this team out."Chris Johnson's 2,509 yards from scrimmage in 2009 stands as the most in NFL history. No player has ever recorded both 1,500 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving in a single campaign. In 2016, David Johnson led the league in scrimmage yards, rushing for 1,239 and receiving 879.But in Rams offense with little established talent and a second-year quarterback coming off a terrible rookie year in Jared Goff, Gurley might get enough touches to have a shot at achieving his goal - especially with new head coach and renowned offensive specialist, Sean McVay, in charge."I just like his offensive mind looking at this offense and what he did with the Redskins and the success there," Gurley said of McVay. "And just his way of coaching us. He’s been doing a great job. We’ve been happy to work with him."Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. The Hall of Fame Game marks the official start of the NFL preseason with the Dallas Cowboys squaring off against the Arizona Cardinals this year. This game provides an initial glimpse of the year's incoming rookie class, which fans were deprived of last season as the event was canceled due to inclement field conditions.Without further ado, here are three players to watch on Thursday.Haason Reddick, LB, Cardinals Reddick's stock skyrocketed during the final months of the pre-draft process and Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians raved about him numerous times during the summer, lauding him for his coverage skills and versatility. The 22-year-old ran a blazing 4.52 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, and can run with running backs, receivers, and tight ends. Even though he's playing limited downs, it's worth keeping an eye on him."He's not going to play a ton," Arians said to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss. "He's going to play, though. Injuries at some positions could cause guys to play more than I want them to play."Reddick is a sleeper Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate and Thursday night could be the starting point of a great carer ahead.Taco Charlton, DE, Cowboys Although his delightful nickname would suggest a lighthearted presence, Vidauntae "Taco" Charlton is here to prove he's the real deal. Charlton was candid early in training camp, admitting he believes his nerves got the best of him while trying to acclimate to the professional level. In any event, Charlton is a mercurial talent, capable of taking over games with his combination of power and athleticism. This game provides the Cowboys' first-round pick with a real chance of overcoming his relatively slow start to camp.Chad Williams, WR, CardinalsWilliams may face a tough transition from Grambling State to the professional ranks, but he may be too talented to ignore. Larry Fitzgerald compared Williams to Anquan Boldin and the rookie wide receiver awed the team's scouting staff with a 4.37 40-yard dash. In some sense, Williams is reminiscent of John Brown, a fellow third-round pick who impressed the Cardinals in his rookie year after joining the team from little-known Pittsburg State. Williams could improve his chances of gaining meaningful regular-season snaps with a big game Thursday.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman presented a vehement defense of Colin Kaepernick this week, arguing the free-agent quarterback is being blackballed by the NFL for his political and social activism.Kaepernick remains unsigned after a host of underwhelming options received contracts this summer, much to Sherman's chagrin.Although numerous league figures have refuted the notion that Kaepernick's politics have anything to do with his unemployment, Sherman doesn't buy it, and put the NFL and its culture on blast in an interview with Jarrett Bell of USA TODAY Sports."The funny thing about it, when you're not being blackballed, you don't have to say he's not being blackballed," Sherman said. "When football's a safe game, you don't have to say, 'Football's a safe game.' It seems like the commissioner always has to say things to justify something."But you didn't even do this with Mike Vick. Vick came back and (eventually) got a $100-million deal."Sherman believes Kaepernick ultimately isn't being punished for his football ability or race. Rather, it's his refusal to bow down to the league establishment that's left him on the outside looking in ahead of the upcoming season."What is it about?" Sherman said. "It's not about football or color. It's about, 'Boy, stay in your place.'"He played in Chip (Kelly)'s system last year and went 16-4 (touchdown-to-interception ratio) on a bad team. He played well because he's a good football player. He may not be the best, but he's better than a lot of these dudes starting."Sherman blasted league owners for prioritizing revenue over winning and called out a host of quarterbacks - including Blake Bortles - for keeping their jobs over Kaepernick."For you to say you have to check with sponsors and fans because this guy took a knee and made a statement?" Sherman said. "Now if you told me this guy threw eight pick-6s last year and played like a bum, had no talent, that's one thing. But Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mallett, or whoever is playing for the Jets right now - whoever is starting for the Jets is terrible - have jobs. You're telling me fans would rather you lose and put a worse player out there because a guy took a stand? That's where it's so troublesome to me."Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders may face his toughest matchups in practice, not games.Sanders and the Broncos are preparing for a bounce-back season after missing the playoffs last year, and he's expected to operate as a key pillar of the offense. In the meantime, Sanders is facing the Broncos' star cornerback duo of Aqib Talib and Chris Harris in training camp, and believes competing with them helps improve his game."Every training camp, it's me and Talib and me and Chris - we always go at it," he said, according to ESPN's Jeff Legwold. "That's the 'No Fly Zone,' and guess what, I've got a jet, a private jet, I'm trying to fly. Sometimes they blow my plane out of the sky and sometimes I fly good. I look down on them like, 'Hey, I'm flying up here, y'all can't stop me.' That's the beauty. Those two are All-Pro cornerbacks and I'm blessed to go up against them every single day."Harris and Talib were arguably the two best cornerbacks in the NFL last season, and though Sanders is expected to play a major role, the Broncos' defense will likely get the credit if Denver makes a deep playoff run this year.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Tony Romo wasn't known as being particularly fleet of foot during his NFL career, and it appears that holds true on the golf course, as well. The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, and current CBS broadcaster, was assessed a one-stroke slow-play penalty during the Western Amateur near Chicago on Wednesday. Romo would shoot 80-82 over 36 holes at Skokie Country Club and miss the cut, beating only two players in the 155-person field."He was very gracious about it," tournament chief Vince Pellegrino told Teddy Greenstein of the Chicago Tribune. "His group fell behind and missed two checkpoints. The others in the group did not receive a penalty. They made an effort to close the gap. Tony readily accepted it."Romo, who received a sponsor invite to the event, has shown his golf talent in various celebrity tournaments throughout his NFL career. He has also attempted to qualify numerous times for the US Open. The struggles of Romo come at an interesting time in the celebrity golf world, as Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry attempts to make the cut in a Web.com Tour event in California that begins Thursday. The two recently participated in the American Century Championship celebrity event at Lake Tahoe, with Curry finishing in fourth place, while Romo was well back in 16th.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Just when it seemed like there was reason to believe Jon Gruden would return to the sidelines one day, he instead offered a reminder that we should have known better. The former Buccaneers and Raiders coach told reporters Wednesday that he doesn't expect to accept another coaching opportunity in the near future."I don't foresee myself coaching anytime soon," Gruden said, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN. "But I do like getting as close to the fire as possible. All I really have going is football. I don't know what I would do without it. I'm happy with what I'm doing. I study as if I am a coach. I still make my own breakdowns. I still come up with my own playbook - I just don't have anybody to give it to."Gruden rumors have become something of a yearly ritual as the NFL coaching carousel spins, conditioning the football community to pass off any such talk as much ado about nothing. But when the coach-turned-analyst seemed to put the idea out there himself last week, it was received more seriously."I've met with several people - I won't deny that," Gruden told Scott Reynolds and Trevor Sikkema of PewterReport.com, addressing the annual reports tying him to coaching jobs. "People - just about every year I talk about coming back to coach. I'm not in here every day at 4:30 or 4:00 in the morning watching pinball. You know? I'm preparing myself to come back. I am. Every day. I'm preparing to come back."It helps me in my broadcasting and I think if you lose that edge … you can't come back unless you are totally wired with college football, personnel, schemes, the CBA, how people are practicing, trends, you know. You've got stay on top of this stuff."While Gruden didn't issue any specific clarifications Wednesday, he may have simply intended his initial comments to detail his approach to his broadcasting position with ESPN.Either way, talk about the former coaching star's potential return to the NFL can be put on the back burner - until he's linked to another vacancy this winter.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Neither a flip of the calendar nor a move to Los Angeles has been enough for the Chargers to get past their run of bad luck. After being carted off the field with an injury suffered in Wednesday's training camp practice, second-round rookie guard Forrest Lamp was diagnosed with a torn ACL, the team announced Wednesday.Lamp, a highly touted talent out of Western Kentucky, was one of several additions made in hope of finally addressing a problematic offensive line situation. Although a timeline for his recovery has not yet been established, the 23-year-old's debut season has almost certainly come to an end before it could even begin.Joining first-round pick Mike Williams, who is expected to miss at least all of training camp with a back issue, he's now the second of the Chargers' top draft picks lost to injury this summer.Lamp being forced to the sidelines could quickly push third-round rookie Dan Feeney into a starting spot at guard. The Indiana product figured to challenge for such a role in camp, perhaps even opposite Lamp on interior, but his candidacy now takes on all the more meaning.Fielding an improved offensive line remains a priority for the Chargers' efforts to take pressure off Philip Rivers and allow him to make the most of his weapons in the passing game. For as much talent as there may have been among the front five in seasons past, the unit is just one of many position groups where injuries have been an issue in establishing any sort of consistency.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller has captured almost every award possible during his professional career, and has now set his sights on shattering the single-season sack record.Miller believes he can get 30 sacks this season, a mark that would shatter Michael Strahan's record of 22.5, set in 2001."Thirty? I think it is (attainable)," Miller said to the Broncos' official website. "First off, you've got to come out - let me think about it. You've got to get 10 in that first month. You've got to get 10 your first month, which is doable. You get two-and-a-half, you get two-and-a-half the next game, two-and-a-half the next game after that. You might miss one game, but then you get two-and-a-half (the next game)."So then you've got 10 in five games right there. If you get three, two, three (in a stretch), it's definitely doable."Miller recorded 13.5 sacks in 16 games last season. The 28-year-old posted his career high in 2012, when he racked up 18.5 sacks."You've got to take advantage of your pass-rush opportunities," Miller said. "If you get five open rushes, you've got to win all five of those rushes. Out of those five rushes, you might get two or three sacks off those. That's the math that I have on it."Out of those five plays - you've got to get home on those plays to make it happen."Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Although you'd never know it by his play on the field, Tom Brady will turn 40 years old on Thursday. What does his star tight end have in mind for a present? Probably the only thing Brady really desires.Asked Wednesday what someone could possibly get for the man who has it all, Rob Gronkowski provided the perfect answer."I get him touchdowns," Gronkowski said, via CBS Tampa Bay. "You gotta catch the ball. That's all he wants - his receivers, tight ends, running backs to catch the ball."To his point, Gronkowski has been a touchdown machine since landing with the Patriots as a second-round pick in 2010. All but one of his 68 career scores have come from Brady, putting the pair among the best quarterback-tight end tandems the NFL has ever seen.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. recently lobbied to become the NFL's highest-paid player, and now he's got the support of one of his crosstown rivals."Honestly, I understand why he said that," New York Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson said Tuesday to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. "And honestly, he should be, because the NFL makes a lot of money off of him."Beckham earned Pro Bowl honors in each of his three seasons and wants to be paid accordingly, with two years left on his contract."Why not? You can pretty much throw the ball anywhere in his direction and he'll go catch it," Richardson added. "It all depends on your team, bro. If this guy's the guy that's getting it done day in and day out, he should be the highest (paid). Then you include the entertainment value that he brings to the Giants and football in general. You sell a lot of T-shirts and jerseys off his name, so why not? The dude is a superstar. There's no doubting that at all."Richardson is bothered by quarterbacks earning far more than other players, arguing that stars at other positions can make the same impact."There's more than one position out there," he said. "Yeah, is it tough to win without a quarterback? It's tremendously hard to win without a quarterback. It really is. But, honestly, when you got receivers like that catching anything and everything, it's not hard to get a quarterback to get them the ball. It really ain't. … Why not pay him? I don't understand why people downgrade every position except the quarterback position."Beckham is likely hoping Giants general manager Jerry Reese takes notice of Richardson's comments and acts accordingly.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Tyrann Mathieu certainly isn't running short on confidence as he sets out to rebound from a frustrating 2016 season.Early reports out of Arizona Cardinals training camp suggest the star defensive back has been making plays all over the field, and he seems more than ready to again prove himself in the months ahead."I'm the best player in the world," Mathieu said, according to the team's official website. "That's how I feel."The claim is certain to incite some naysayers, as any debate about the top athletes in a given sport undoubtedly would, but the former third-round pick was on a path to greatness prior to a run of injury issues.Mathieu had made a case of Defensive Player of the Year honors after starting the first 14 games of the 2015 season, recording an impressive 89 tackles, one sack, five interceptions, and 17 passes defensed in a do-it-all role for the Cardinals' defense.A torn ACL ended his season in Week 15, though, and a series of injury issues limited him to just 10 games in 2016.Mathieu, who is still just 25 years old entering his fifth NFL season, will have every opportunity to recapture his All-Pro form now that he's back at full strength. If the previous results can be taken as any indication, the sky may still be the limit for his potential looking to the future.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Martavis Bryant remains without any sort of timeline for a return as the NFL continues to hold him under a conditional reinstatement from suspension.Ben Roethlisberger is among the many wondering when the Pittsburgh Steelers wideout will be allowed to rejoin his teammates."I hope (he's reinstated today). Goodness. He's done everything the league has asked," Roethlisberger told reporters Wednesday, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. "I'm not really sure why they keep holding him out from being out there with the guys. To me that's the best is for him to be out there with his brothers. I'm not sure what the hold-up is but I know he's doing everything he can to be out there. ... Goodness, you'd think he's paid his dues."Bryant, who sat out the entire 2016 season due to a violation of the NFL's substance-abuse policy, was reinstated on a conditional basis back in April. The understanding at the time was that the decision cleared him to participate in all preseason activities, provided arrangements were made for clinical resources in Pittsburgh. Perhaps suggesting there was still work to be done in that regard, general manager Kevin Colbert revealed last week that the NFL had yet to issue a full reinstatement. Bryant will be held out of on-field activities until that process is complete.A sense of urgency on the part of Roethlisberger and the team as a whole is entirely understandable. As would be the case for any player returning from a year away from football, training camp and preseason reps are all the more imperative for Bryant to hit the ground running. The 25-year-old regaining his previous form could very well help the already dynamic Steelers take a step toward unstoppable territory. Despite missing five games in 2015, and notching a start in just five of his 11 appearances, Bryant finished his last year of football action with 50 receptions for 765 yards and six touchdowns.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Get ready for your season with theScore's 2017 Fantasy Football Draft KitAs the NFL continues to evolve into a pass-first league, the workhorse running back who provides sustaining weekly value becomes rarer. Thus, it's essential for fantasy owners to identify and acquire the sort of running back whose value isn't entirely dependent on workload, but instead on a combination of situation and opportunity (either imminent or potential). Specialists like receiving backs and goal-line backs in prolific offenses, as well as backups with breakout potential, can be valuable fantasy assets.Below are five rushing attacks from which we recommend drafting at least one player:Patriots2016 rushing attempts: 482 (3rd in NFL)

Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome issued a statement Wednesday denying a report that he wants to sign Colin Kaepernick but has faced resistance from team owner Steve Bisciotti."We are going through a process, and we have not made a decision. Steve Bisciotti has not told us we cannot sign Colin Kaepernick, nor has he blocked the move. Whoever is making those claims is wrong," Newsome stated.ESPN's Dianna Russini reported that Newsome and head coach John Harbaugh both support signing Kaepernick, but thus far Bisciotti won't allow it.Kaepernick has been linked to the Ravens following Joe Flacco's back injury, which is believed to be minor. Houston Texans wide receiver Will Fuller broke his collarbone at practice Wednesday, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Sarah Barshop.Schefter and Barshop say Fuller will be out indefinitely, while John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports the pass-catcher will undergo surgery and miss two-to-three months. If Fuller returns at the early end of that timeline, he could play in Week 4 or 5.The 2016 first-round pick was expected to take another leap in development and ease the pressure off No. 1 receiver DeAndre Hopkins, so losing him could severely impact the Texans' passing game - especially with either rookie Deshaun Watson or journeyman Tom Savage under center.Fuller lit it up during the first two contests of his professional career, using his game-breaking speed to produce back-to-back 100-yard games. The 23-year-old's production never hit those heights again for the rest of the season, but with the Texans likely set to upgrade their quarterback play regardless of who wins the starting job, Fuller was expected to be one of the main benefactors of the switch from Brock Osweiler. If Fuller is forced to miss regular-season time, receivers Braxton Miller and Jaelen Strong will likely see their roles expanded.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc.
