The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to exercise Nick Foles' $20-million contract option for the 2019 season in order to begin facilitating a trade, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Foles would pay the Eagles $2 million to buy out his contract and become a free agent after his option is picked up. Philadelphia would then place the franchise tag on Foles, allowing it to trade him, according to Schefter. The Eagles reportedly believe they could net a third-round pick in a trade for Foles. The Super Bowl LII MVP led the Eagles to a 4-1 regular-season record in five starts this year in place of an injured Carson Wentz. Foles directed an upset of the Chicago Bears in the wild-card round before losing to the New Orleans Saints in the divisional round. The third-round pick of the 2012 NFL Draft completed 72.3 percent of his passes in the regular season for 1,413 yards and seven touchdowns against four interceptions.Eagles head coach Doug Pederson and general manager Howie Roseman both backed Wentz last month as the team's starter. Roseman also said he'd like to keep Foles, but ultimately would have to do what's best for the team.Nate Sudfeld was the Eagles' third-string quarterback the past two seasons but is set to hit restricted free agency in March.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. New England Patriots linebackers coach Brian Flores is expected to be introduced as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins on Monday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor will also be announced Monday as the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals, Schefter adds.NFL teams are allowed to negotiate with the agents of assistant coaches throughout the playoffs but need to wait for the respective team's postseason to end before officially agreeing to terms.Flores joined the Patriots in 2004 as a scouting assistant. He became the defensive play-caller during the 2018 season after previous coordinator Matt Patricia took over as the head coach of the Detroit Lions.Taylor was brought on as an assistant receivers coach for the Rams in 2017. Super Bowl LIII is a generational clash between the dynastic New England Patriots, seeking their second title in three years and the sixth of the Tom Brady era, and the upstart Los Angeles Rams, looking to make their mark with the league's youngest head coach in Sean McVay and the NFL's best defensive player in Aaron Donald. It could be a long night for a young Rams club going up against the veteran Patriots. Before you grab a salty snack like Wonderful Pistachios - #TheSportsNut - and talk about the big game with your friends, do a little homework and read about three players who will drive the Rams nuts in Super Bowl LIII.Tom Brady Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyBrady's legacy was secure long ago, but he's looking to become the first player in NFL history with six Super Bowl victories. Nothing can faze him at this point, and his unmatched ability to dictate the tempo of the game should give the Rams all they can handle.Though New England's supporting cast isn't as strong as it was in previous years, Brady's top receiver, Julian Edelman, leads all players in receiving yards during the playoffs. Meanwhile, Rob Gronkowski and Phillip Dorsett can still come up with occasional splash plays. Brady commandeered New England to the league's most blistering first-half pace during the regular season. Adept at leading both long, methodical drives and quick, vertical attacks, he'll keep Rams defensive coordinator Wade Phillips on his toes. What really ought to drive the Rams nuts is Brady's capacity to overcome seemingly insurmountable deficits - as in Super Bowl LI where he led the Patriots back from being down 28-3 against the Atlanta Falcons. No Rams lead is safe until the final whistle blows.James White Sony Michel may be the Patriots' best back while Rex Burkhead serves as a jack of all trades, but it's James White who will drive the Rams nuts on Sunday. He's an outstanding receiver coming out of the backfield and is poised to attack the weak point of the Rams' defense by generating mismatches against linebackers. Two years ago, White scored three touchdowns and set a Super Bowl record with 14 receptions. He's primed to reprise his starring role against an L.A. defense that's better equipped to stop more traditional power backs. White is a nightmare to contain, and his ability to cut on a dime makes him a dominant threat after the catch.White's had a career year and should be confident that he can shine on the biggest stage once again. The Rams need to zero in on him or run the risk of history repeating.Stephon Gilmore Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyGilmore had a career season of his own, earning first-team All-Pro honors, his second Pro Bowl selection, and the top grade among cornerbacks from Pro Football Focus. The 28-year-old, who often shadows the opponent's best receiver, will be ready to shut down either Brandin Cooks or former teammate Robert Woods.Few players are better at defending passes than Gilmore, who can separate the receiver from the ball at the last possible second. He also rarely, if ever, gets fooled at the line of scrimmage, which could mean trouble for a Rams offense that loves to run play action. Gilmore must be driving McVay nuts as the young coach prepares for Super Bowl LIII.Are you ready for the big game? Make sure you have lots of snacks handy, like Wonderful Pistachios. According to a survey by the brand, over a third of Canadians snack more when there’s more on the line for their team!Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. The development of quarterback Sam Darnold was the primary focus when the New York Jets hired Adam Gase as head coach. Although the reactions were mixed on the former Miami Dolphins coach, Peyton Manning supports the decision."I think it’s a good fit for Sam," Manning said at a DirecTV promotional event, according to NJ.com's Steve Politi. "Adam was wonderful to me after my injury. I had to learn to play football in a sort of different physical state because I couldn’t throw the ball the same way."Gase previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears in 2014 and was the Denver Broncos' OC in 2013 when Manning threw for a record-setting 5,477 yards and 55 passing touchdowns.“Mentally, Adam was able to take some plays that I used to run and build this hybrid offense where I could just go out there and play," Manning said.Darnold was the No. 3 overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft. He completed 57.7 percent of his passes for 2,865 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions in 13 games as a rookie. Manning believes those numbers could improve with Gase's assistance.“I’m pulling for him to have great success there,†Manning said. “Now that I’m not playing, (I enjoy) not only keeping up with Eli but coaches who I played for and players that I played with. I’m pulling hard for Adam. I like Sam as well and I think he has a bright future ahead of him.â€Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Putting a label on Julius Peppers was always difficult. But, frankly, it's also unnecessary.Versatile? The second overall pick in the 2002 draft created havoc in the backfield from defensive end or linebacker, often single-handedly eliminating the opposition's deep-passing option.First-ballot Hall of Famer? That's coming, sure. His thrashing and bullying resulted in 10 double-digit sack seasons and 159.5 total for his remarkable career, fourth all time and nine clear of fifth-place Chris Doleman. Peppers' 97 sacks over a decade with the Carolina Panthers stand as a franchise record.Generation-defining talent? Undoubtedly. Physically, he was remarkable. Before Peppers, it was difficult to process a 6-foot-7, 295-pound man flying around with his level of explosiveness. His impossible blend of power and speed forced front offices to rethink their checklists when searching for pass-rushers to anchor their defense.

There are some attractive betting prices out there for the Super Bowl and, come Sunday, there's a good chance you'll be wagering on something. If you're looking to hit a home run, here are our five favorite long shot bets.Rams LB Cory Littleton to win MVP (+12500)Littleton didn't make the cut in our three favorite MVP bets released earlier this week, and for good reason. Only two non-offensive players have taken home the award over the previous 15 Super Bowls. That, and defensive production - interceptions, touchdowns, etc. - tend to be random. But if you're looking for any player to be around the ball the most, it'll likely be the linebacker, who has the highest over/under on tackles in the game.Patriots FB James Develin to score a TD (+1200)Develin might be the best value pick on the board to score a touchdown. He's been utilized in goal-to-go situations this season and since Week 9, has become a short-yardage option in the running game. Develin isn't exactly allergic to the end zone, either, hitting paydirt four times this season.Rams WR Josh Reynolds to score first TD (+2200)Reynolds gets our attention as a player who could score the first touchdown. The Patriots are notorious for starting out slow in Super Bowls, scoring only three combined points over the course of eight first quarters in the Brady-Belichick era. That could pave the way for the Rams to score first, and our best long shot would be Reynolds, who has five touchdowns on the season and is seeing an increased role in the offense with Cooper Kupp sidelined.First team to reach 20 points - Neither (+1600)If you like the under in this one, you can take 56.5 in most shops and even search for some alternate totals to get better prices. If you really like the under and expect a tight game, take another look at this prop.Double result - Tie/Rams (+1500)A double result is two bets - one on the halftime result and one on the final result. Fifteen of the previous 20 Super Bowls have produced a lower scoring first half than second half, so if that follows suit again, there's a higher chance of variance and better odds of the score being tied after two quarters. Considering we like the Rams in this game, especially if you can find a +3, they're our final result pick.Alex Kolodziej is theScore's betting writer. It's finally here, folks. After rolling out our favorite player props, random props, MVP bets, and more, it's time to offer up our five strongest plays for Super Bowl LIII between the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots.CBS to show replay of Nickell Robey-Coleman's missed pass interference (-130)The missed pass interference call against Robey-Coleman has bled through from the NFC championship and become one of the premier narratives of Super Bowl week. There is more discussion surrounding what is arguably the worst missed call in football history than there is about the two teams playing in the big game. Unfortunately for any New Orleans Saints fans tuning in, there will be ample opportunity for this play to be talked about during the broadcast, leaving them no choice but to relive the nightmare. So, you might as well try to profit from the pain.Patriots RB James White Under 52.5 receiving yards (-115)White is New England's top pass-catcher out of the backfield. He's prone to putting up gaudy numbers through the air, including a whopping 15 catches in the divisional round. However, this total feels a bit inflated for White, who faces a Rams defense allowing roughly 29 receiving yards per game to opposing running backs this season.Julian Edelman's longest reception Under 23.5 yards (-110)Offenses this season have made it a priority to pick on Rams cornerback Marcus Peters. Los Angeles is dreadful in a bevy of categories against No. 1 wide receivers, but a healthy Aqib Talib will help the secondary against Tom Brady's surgeon-like precision. Wide receiver Edelman has been the primary benefactor this postseason, bringing down a combined 16 passes for 247 yards over the two contests. He should find it difficult to separate from Talib, though, who gives the Rams' defense a better shot at containing Edelman than Peters would. The White House will not serve fast food to the Super Bowl winners (-320)We've avoided playing chalky prices all season long and don't want to get accustomed to recommending them. However, there's no way this can happen again.Aaron Donald Under 4.5 combined tackles and assists (-105)The media has been hyping up Donald throughout the leadup to the Super Bowl. He's undoubtedly one of the biggest X-factors of the game, as Brady hasn't been sacked yet in the postseason. This number still feels a tad high for Donald, who has four or fewer tackles in five of the previous six games.Rams +3*We added an asterisk for play No. 6, which would be the Rams +3. This number has popped up on occasion, only to fall back down to +2.5 shortly after books hang it. We still don't think L.A. is getting enough credit in the market and would recommend the Rams if +3 becomes available.Alex Kolodziej is theScore's betting writer. Aside from being arguably the biggest game on the annual sports calendar, the Super Bowl has long brought about many of a given year's best ads from top North American and international brands. Here's a look at the 10 best commercials in Super Bowl history.10. Coke guy caught trying to take a Pepsi - 1995 seasonPepsi struck a key blow on competitor Coca-Cola with this spot depicting a Coke deliveryman opting to take a can from the rival's neighboring fridge while Hank Williams' "Your Cheatin' Heart" plays over top. Ouch.9. A Song of Ice and Fire: Dinklage vs. Freeman - 2017 seasonActor Peter Dinklage teamed up with rapper Busta Rhymes for an epic lip sync battle against the union of actor Morgan Freeman and rapper Missy Elliott in Doritos and Mountain Dew's crossover ads. Get Ur Drink On.8. Mean Joe Greene: "Hey kid, catch" - 1979 seasonHall of Famer "Mean" Joe Greene gingerly walked down the tunnel after a game when stopped by a young boy who offered him a drink of his Coke. After downing the entire bottle in a single go, the Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle called back to the dejected kid and tossed him his game-worn jersey as a sign of gratitude. That wasn't very mean at all.7. The Showdown: Bird vs. Jordan - 1993 seasonLong before the present-day debate about whether LeBron James or Michael Jordan is the NBA's true GOAT, Jordan took part in an all-time game of HORSE against Boston Celtics legend and 80's rival Larry Bird. The prize: a wholesome McDonald's lunch.6. E*Trade baby - 2007 seasonE*Trade struck gold with an advertising campaign centered around a newborn trader, who showed just how easy it was to buy and sell stocks on the website before spitting up on himself. The video looks real, but we weren't born yesterday.5. Puppy Love - 2013 seasonBudweiser's stable of signature Clydesdale horses is a staple of the big game. The team was joined by a determined new recruit from Puppy Adoption for Super Bowl XLVIII while Passenger's "Let Her Go" pulls on the heartstrings just a little bit more.4. The Force - 2010 seasonVolkswagen featured an aspiring, and struggling, young Darth Vader in its marquee spot. The boy relentlessly tries to capture The Force before receiving some uplifting help from his father's remote starter. Impressive. Most impressive.3. Terry Tate - 2002 seasonOffice linebacker Terry Tate, played by actor, former player, and ex-wrestler Lester Speight, was brought in from Reebok to join a small company and boost productivity. The campaign, which started for Super Bowl XXXVII continued for some time with motivational messages such as, "You kill the Joe, you make some mo'!" accompanied by hard-hitting mid-body tackles. Football fans haven't viewed their workplace in the same way since.2. "Wassup?!" - 1998 seasonOne of Budweiser's most culturally impactful commercials debuted during Super Bowl XXXIII and went on to be parodied throughout film and television, most notably in 2000's "Scary Movie." Get this one out of your head, we dare you.1. Zebra Official - 2003 seasonThis one may hit close to home for New Orleans Saints fans right now. In another spot featuring Budweiser's Clydesdales, a pair of cowboys watch on as the horses participate in a game of football. A play goes under a lengthy review by the ... zebra official, who faces criticism from the spectators. Some calls really are black and white.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Miami Dolphins do not plan on retaining Ryan Tannehill as the team's starter in 2019 and are expected to move on from the quarterback this offseason, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.Tannehill was the Dolphins' first-round pick (No. 8 overall) in 2012. He's been the team's starting quarterback for six seasons, missing the 2017 campaign with a torn ACL.While Miami hopes to trade Tannehill to acquire draft compensation, the chances of a team accepting his $18.7-million base salary in 2019 is unlikely, Salguero added. The team is also not expected to trade for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles. The 30-year-old passer and his representatives could agree to renegotiate his contract to facilitate a trade, but their priority is to select where he plays next as a free agent. With the Dolphins set to hire New England Patriots assistant Brian Flores as their new head coach, owner Stephen Ross will look to start fresh at quarterback.Miami isn't expected to spend big in the upcoming free-agent pool, per Salguero, but the team could look to draft a signal-caller in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, or in 2020.If Tannehill is released, he'll wrap an up-and-down tenure in Miami that began with high expectations. He never eclipsed his 27 passing touchdowns thrown in 2014 and failed to take the next step as a franchise pivot. Patrick Mahomes isn't the only person in the Kansas City Chiefs organization with a deep love of ketchup.Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt revealed in an interview with BJ Kissel of Chiefs.com that he, too, likes to put ketchup on his steak."I told (Mahomes) after I heard about his love of ketchup that I've always been the same way," Hunt said. "I love ketchup, and definitely, any time I have a steak, I'm going to have it with ketchup."I shared with him a story - when I was about nine years old, I was with my parents in France, and we were at a very fancy restaurant. I asked for ketchup with my steak, which I didn't know was a no-no in France. So, the waiter brought it out and promptly dumped it into my lap. We had a good laugh about that, and it's great to know that there's a fellow ketchup lover on the team now."Hunt also put his stamp of approval on Mahomes' endorsement deal with Hunt's Ketchup."Yeah, even though we're not related to the Hunt's ketchup brand, I think it was appropriate that if he was going to pick one of the two, that he goes with Hunt's and not Heinz, who is a big sponsor of the Steelers," Hunt said.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Drew Brees wants the New Orleans Saints to move on from the NFC Championship Game controversy, but that doesn't mean the star quarterback is happy with how the NFL handled the fallout from the no-call.Brees criticized league commissioner Roger Goodell during a Friday appearance on "The Dan Patrick Show" for waiting 10 days to address the missed pass interference penalty that likely robbed the Saints of a Super Bowl berth.Asked about the non-call by a Saints beat reporter during his end-of-season address Wednesday, Goodell said Los Angeles Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman should have been penalized for running into Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis prior to the pass arriving, but stressed that "our officials are human" and that there are no easy answers for fixing missed calls. But it appears the response was too little, too late for Brees."I think that we all recognize that, being in that position, you are the face of the league. And you have the responsibility to come out and address issues when they come about," he said. "And I would say that on Monday or Tuesday after that game we all deserved a response of some kind."Brees also touched on the difference between Goodell's handling of the situation and his own."I mean, do I really want to be in a position talking about this over and over again? No," he said. "But I have to stand up and do it because I have to represent my team, represent the 'Who Dat' nation, and that's my responsibility."So it's the commissioner's responsibility to do the same thing, and yet we don't hear a peep for 10 days. And it's because he has to do it now because he's at the Super Bowl and he does his annual press conference."Brees and the Saints will be Super Bowl spectators only when the Rams face the New England Patriots on Sunday.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. You can bet on almost anything when it comes to the Super Bowl. After sifting through our 20 favorite player props earlier in the week, here are the top random props for Sunday.Tony Romo under 7.5 plays predicted (-110)Tony Romo was lauded for his play predicting during last week's AFC Championship Game. The Wall Street Journal found that of the 2,599 plays that Romo has called this season, he's made a prediction on 72 of them, correctly calling 68. The listed number here creates some room to work with.Team that wins the coin toss will defer (-115)This makes a ton of sense because both head coaches in Sunday's game typically defer when they win the coin toss.Under 106.5 million viewers (-115)Super Bowl ratings have declined each of the previous three seasons. You can make a case that any other Super Bowl matchup entering championship weekend would have been more attractive than a Los Angeles football market against the Super Bowl mainstay Patriots. Will CBS show a replay of the NFC title game missed pass interference call? Yes (-130)This might be a bigger storyline than the actual game! The missed call has a chance to be shown in a how-the-Rams-got-here montage, if or when there is a pass interference call, or if Nickell Robey-Coleman gets introduced.Over 6.5 halftime songs (-115)Adam Levine is a diva. He'd sing "Sunday Morning" as the sun came up over Atlanta if he was given the chance.Levine to wear predominantly black t-shirt (-140)He's worn black in almost all of his recent big gigs.Maroon 5 to play SpongeBob SquarePants tribute (-230)There have been teasers and spoilers galore suggesting this will happen.Under 8.5 Clydesdales shown in Budweiser commercial (-115)A leaked version of Budweiser's Super Bowl commercial shows there won't be more than eight horses. Will we tear up during this commercial? Yes, that's a lock.Gladys Knight's national anthem under 110 seconds (-110)We're going against the grain on a popular over prop. Gladys Knight will get in and get out.Rob Gronkowski receiving yards over Russell Westbook points, rebounds, and assists against Celtics (-130)Let's shift our attention to the court on Sunday, where Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook will face a Boston Celtics defense that's been a tough matchup for opposing floor generals. Advertising during the Super Bowl doesn't come cheap.Host network CBS is charging between $5.1 million and $5.3 million to air a 30-second commercial during Super Bowl LIII, according to Jason Lynch of Adweek. It's a far cry from what advertisers paid for the first Super Bowl in 1967, as this analysis by PromoCodesForYou.com shows:The analysis also examined the most popular Super Bowl ads of all time, based on USA Today's "Ad Meter" ratings. The list includes McDonald's "The Showdown" starring Michael Jordan and Larry Bird, Doritos' "Man's Best Friend," and Betty White's Snickers ad.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Baker Mayfield and Saquon Barkley are presumptive favorites for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, which is set to be handed out Saturday at the eighth annual NFL Honors show. The star rookies apparently know that the trophy is going home with one of them, and the close friends have a bet on who'll come out on top."It's for a chain," Barkley said, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. "The loser's got to get someone else a chain. We get to pick the chain and we get to have fun with it because obviously everyone's talking about who's going to win, and at the end of the day we'd love to see each other win, but we’d also love to see ourselves win too, but we made a little bet with it just to show how friendly we are that it's bigger than just the award."On Thursday, the New York Giants running back beat the Cleveland Browns quarterback for the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year fan-vote award after finishing behind only Ezekiel Elliott with 1,307 rushing yards. However, as arguably shown by Dak Prescott winning the award over his teammate Elliott in 2016, positional value does seem to factor into the decision-making for the league's award.Mayfield did have a relatively slow start to his campaign, but he exploded after head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley were fired at the end of October. The latter was replaced by Freddie Kitchens, whose dynamic partnership with the QB earned him the top job in Cleveland. The young passer broke the NFL record for rookie touchdown passes with 27, previously held by Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson, and led the Browns to five wins in their final seven games."Baker is amazing," Barkley said. "He went one, I went two. He won the Heisman, I won Pepsi Rookie of the Year. There's nothing I can say bad about Baker. He's one of my good friends. We're actually doing a trip with each other coming up soon. I just love his play, what he did for Cleveland this year."Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. With the 2018 season reaching its climax, theScore's football editors make seven outlandish - and unrelated - predictions for Sunday's Super Bowl LIII matchup between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams.Robey-Coleman seals Rams' victory with late pick-6Icon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyNickell Robey-Coleman will silence the critics who've said the Rams don't belong in the big game because of his self-admitted pass interference play that went uncalled in the NFC Championship Game. He'll intercept Tom Brady deep in Rams territory late in the fourth quarter and return it 80-plus yards for the game-clinching touchdown. The center of controversy from the conference championship will become the hero. - Esten McLarenDonald and Co. crush Super Bowl team sack recordIcon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyNew England's offensive line was one of the NFL's best units this year, but it will be no match for the Rams' defensive line. Aaron Donald will prove to be football's most unstoppable force, Ndamukong Suh will continue to play his best football of the year, and the cavalry of Dante Fowler Jr., Michael Brockers, Samson Ebukam, and Co. will do its part to get to Brady nine times to destroy the previous record of seven team sacks. There aren't too many coordinators and coaches who can stump Bill Belichick, but Wade Phillips is up to the task. - Arun SrinivasanGronk wins MVP, joins WWE after gameBoston Globe / Boston Globe / GettyIt's no secret that major injuries have negated many of the athletic gifts that made Rob Gronkowski the most dominant tight end ever. But he'll dial back the clock Sunday for one final vintage Gronk performance, shredding the Rams' undersized linebackers and overmatched safeties for multiple touchdowns in an MVP-winning performance. After the game, Gronk will announce he's retiring from football to focus on the next phase of his career: conquering the world of pro wrestling. - David P. WoodsTeams combine for most points in Super Bowl historyIcon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyWhat better way to end one of most offensive seasons in NFL history than with the highest-scoring Super Bowl of all time? In Super Bowl XXIX, the San Francisco 49ers and San Diego Chargers combined for a record 75 points. The Rams and Patriots owned two of the league's top four offenses during the regular season, and the juggernauts will go touchdown for touchdown in Atlanta, producing a historic shootout. - Alex ChippinHoyer throws game-winning TDAl Bello / Getty Images Sport / GettyYou might not have heard, but Brady is 41 years old. (Rams head coach Sean McVay is 33!). New England's offensive line has done an amazing job protecting its star quarterback, but it likely won't be enough to stop the reigning DPOY from wreaking havoc. In a poetic twist of fate considering how Brady's career started, the franchise player will be lost to a late injury, forcing Brian Hoyer into the game. The backup will ultimately throw the touchdown that gives the Patriots their sixth Lombardi Trophy. Brady will probably get his job back, though. - Jack BrowneGostkowski can't repeat historyIcon Sportswire / Icon Sportswire / GettyThe Patriots and Rams met back in Super Bowl XXXVI, which ended with a 48-yard game-winning field goal from Adam Vinatieri. Current New England kicker Stephen Gostkowski will have the exact same opportunity in Super Bowl LIII. With the game tied and no time remaining, Gostkowski will attempt a 48-yard field goal for the win - and miss. The game will be forced to go to overtime, and the Rams will capture their second Lombardi Trophy. - Mike AlessandriniBurkhead outshines game's top backsBrett Carlsen / Getty Images Sport / GettyIn a matchup that will feature talented running backs like Todd Gurley, Sony Michel, C.J. Anderson, and James White, it will be the oft-forgotten Rex Burkhead who will be the game's leading rusher. The third man on the Patriots' depth chart has carried the ball just 16 times for 53 yards this postseason, but he emerged with 12 carries and two crucial touchdowns in the AFC title game. His usage will increase even more in Super Bowl LIII. - Michael McClymontCopyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

A prominent Atlanta-area businessman has been accused of swindling nearly a dozen people - including his own mother - out of almost $1 million in a Super Bowl ticket scam, Nicole Carr of WSB-TV reports. The man, Ketan Shah, was also reported missing by his wife earlier this month.Sandy Springs resident Alan Tartt, one of the alleged victims, said he was introduced to Shah through a mutual friend and started making $5,000 payments to him as deposits for $20,000 worth of tickets. However, when they were scheduled to meet, Tartt said he couldn't get in touch with Shah.WSB-TV obtained records showing that Shah's mother told police she lost $36,000 in the scam, but she chose not to press charges. The biggest loss reported was a $500,000 payment from a businessman in Columbus, Ga., who said Shah promised him tickets and the opportunity to host an arena Super Bowl event."Right now, what we know of is just slightly over three quarters of a million dollars scammed out for Super Bowl-related stuff," said Gwinnett County police spokesperson Wilbert Rundles."It's not that he posted some ad and random people are contacting this guy for tickets and being scammed. He's known these people for many years. One of them, he's known his whole life because it's his own mother, and he's taken advantage of them."Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams have plenty of betting trends working both for and against them heading into Super Bowl Sunday.Earlier in the week, we dug into general Super Bowl betting nuggets while attempting to find edges. Now let's discuss specific team trends.Patriots scoring at will in postseasonThe Patriots have posted two more offensive outbursts in the playoffs, with a 41-point outing against the Los Angeles Chargers in the divisional round, and 37 points scored against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. Since 2014, the Pats are 11-2 in the playoffs on both the over and the team total over, averaging 32.7 points per contest by themselves.Bettors expecting another crooked number on the scoreboard can find New England's team total in the 28.5-29 range depending on the shop.History shows McVay is in a tough spotThe Sean McVay-Bill Belichick matchup might be the most underrated of the contest. It pits an offensive genius against arguably the best game-planner in league history.McVay will likely need to conjure up as much magic as possible to break an alarming trend for head coaches who face Belichick for the first time: They're 7-30 straight up against New England since 2010.Patriots prone to slow starts in Super BowlsFor a franchise that's hung point totals of 33, 34, and 28 in its previous three Super Bowls, New England doesn't exactly fire out of the gates offensively. In fact, Stephen Gostkowski's field goal in last year's title game provided the first ever points scored in the opening frame for the Patriots in a Super Bowl during the Brady-Belichick era. That broke a string of seven straight games without a point in the first quarter for the Patriots, who are -0.5 (+135) on the first-quarter spread in some shops. The first-quarter under is also 2-6 in Super Bowl games featuring the Patriots in the Brady-Belichick era.Rams come in streakingThe Rams hit a minor mid-December bump in the road, losing consecutive games as favorites. Since then, Los Angeles is on a 4-0 run straight up and against the spread, which could bode well for the Super Bowl. The Action Network found that Super Bowl teams on at least a four-game stretch of covering the spread have gone 5-2 against the number.Don't take experience into accountThe Patriots seem to have a leg up because of their Super Bowl experience. New England's dynasty run has led to the current 53-man roster logging 86 Super Bowl appearances collectively, while there are just five appearances on the Rams' roster. In 2018, there were 60 appearances among Patriots players and five for the Eagles, and we know how that played out. It's essentially been even in the 11 games with the biggest discrepancies in Super Bowl experience, with the more experienced team winning six times.Alex Kolodziej is theScore's betting writer. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have taken some time out of their busy schedules to support some former New England Patriots' bids to be enshrined in football lore.Even while preparations for Super Bowl LIII continue, the two Patriots legends have written letters of support for Hall of Fame finalists Ty Law and Richard Seymour to the Pro Football Hall of Fame selection committee, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss."Looking back, I realize how lucky I was then to be challenged every day by one of the greatest cornerbacks to ever play the game. It helped me work harder to become successful in this league and ultimately prepared me to become the player I am today," Brady wrote of Law.Law was a two-time first-team All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowler. Seymour, a defensive lineman, was named an All-Pro three times and reached the Pro Bowl seven times during his 12-year career."Richard Seymour and Vince Wilfork are the two best defensive linemen I have coached," Belichick wrote of Seymour. "Richard had a rare combination of size, speed, strength, and athleticism. He was a smart player who understood game plans and adjustments on the field. His length, strength, and quickness allowed him to match up on any offensive lineman favorably."Law, a Patriots cornerback from 1995-2004, is a finalist for the third consecutive year. The Dallas Cowboys are not expected to extend head coach Jason Garrett's contract this offseason, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.Garrett will now enter the final year of his contract in 2019.The news contrasts with earlier reports stating the Cowboys intended to negotiate a long-term contract extension with their head coach following the team's playoff run, a deal that was expected to be lucrative.Seemingly on the hot seat early in the 2018 season, Garrett led Dallas to its second NFC East crown in three years before being ousted by the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round. The 52-year-old is the NFL's fifth-longest tenured head coach, accumulating a 77-59 regular-season record across nine campaigns.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is doubling down after saying on Wednesday that the Pittsburgh Steelers need to "stop all the bull-ish.""I think everyone has to stop being divas. I think we need to stop being the Kardashians and just play ball," Smith-Schuster said on Thursday, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. The Steelers have long dominated headlines for off-field issues. Star running back Le'Veon Bell sat out the 2018 season after refusing to sign a franchise tag that was extended to him for a second consecutive year. He'll now become a free agent in March. The team's focus has since shifted to wide receiver Antonio Brown and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The two reportedly clashed on the practice field, leading to Brown skipping practices and missing the Steelers' Week 17 season finale. He's now the subject of trade rumors.Smith-Schuster says he's learned an important lesson throughout all of this."Being in that locker room, I've learned a lot," he said. "I know that I would never want to be a problem to any franchise."The Steelers' No. 62 pick of the 2017 NFL Draft was added to last week's Pro Bowl as a replacement for the injured Brown. He led Pittsburgh with 1,426 receiving yards and 111 catches in 2018, and also scored seven touchdowns.Former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher addressed the conflict within his former team on Wednesday, saying he hopes Brown, Roethlisberger, and head coach Mike Tomlin can get in a room and resolve their differences.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. One of the perks Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell experienced as stars of the 1990s Nickelodeon show "Kenan and Kel" was receiving free tickets to Super Bowl XXXII in San Diego. However, the duo never actually made it into the stadium. On Wednesday's episode of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Thompson told the hilarious story of how he and Mitchell ended up scalping their tickets and spending the money at a nearby Chili's restaurant."I got tickets to go one time when I was young, and they gave me and Kel - these people gave me and Kel - I don't want to say who it was, but it rhymes with Schmickelodeon," Thompson said. "They gave us tickets to the Super Bowl, and we were living in L.A., and it was in San Diego, that Super Bowl. They sent us down in this limousine or whatever, but my debit card game and my money was funny, so I didn't have any money on me at the time. I was just young and didn't know how to, like, juggle my finances or whatever."And it didn't make any sense to me to go to the Super Bowl with no money and not be able to buy anything or whatever. So, all these people were at the exit ramp selling tickets, and they were like, 'Hey, y'all got some tickets?' And I was like, 'I mean, how much would you give us for a ticket?' He was like, '$2,500.' I was like, 'What?!'"I was like, 'Hey, Kel, you wanna make some super bread right now?' And we sold our tickets and went to Chili's and balled out ... Oh my gosh, chicken fingers for everybody."Thompson, an Atlanta native, said he will be attendance for Super Bowl LIII on Sunday, "representing for not the Falcons."Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Colin Kaepernick's lawyer appeared on NBC's "Today" on Thursday and said President Donald Trump's comments about protests during the national anthem are the reason his client has gone unsigned since the end of the 2016 season."The collusion actually was the NFL kowtowing to the president - I think it's clear," attorney Mark Geragos said, according to Erik Ortiz of NBCNews.com.Geragos said it's clear Kaepernick isn't being given the same opportunity as other available quarterbacks despite remaining in "spectacular shape.""There isn't anyone who has a couple of neurons firing that wouldn't say this isn't collusive activity," he added.Kaepernick first kneeled during a preseason game in 2016 as a protest against racial injustice and police brutality in the United States. The movement spread across the league and soon resulted in many others taking a knee before their respective games.Trump said in September 2017 that those who kneeled during the anthem were disrespecting U.S. service members and should be "fired" by their team's owner. An arbitrator appointed by the league and players' union to Kaepernick's collusion complaint decided last summer that the case should proceed to a hearing.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher wants his successor, Mike Tomlin, to help patch up the issues between quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wide receiver Antonio Brown.Brown was benched in Week 17 and there have been subsequent reports of a potential offseason trade for the star wideout."I'm hopeful that at some point, in my opinion, that coach Mike Tomlin, Antonio Brown, and Ben Roethlisberger will get in a room, shut the door, and air their differences, and talk about where they are and see if there's any way they can get aligned moving forward," Cowher said, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette."Because there's a window of time here. These are not 24- and 25-year-olds. They've done too much for that organization to allow this degree of frustration, which I believe it is. I think there needs to be some separation, some time. Unfortunately, in this transparent world we're in with everything else we have in social media, things are said, things are done, things get misinterpreted that sometimes time needs to be the healer of this."Cowher coached the Steelers from 1992 to 2006 and led the team to a victory in Super Bowl XL with Roethlisberger under center. He stepped down in January 2007 and currently works as a studio analyst with CBS.While Brown has seemed to hint several times at a desire to play for the San Francisco 49ers next season, fellow Steelers receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster reiterated Wednesday his personal desire for Brown to be retained.Cowher understands the three may not be able to reach a resolution, but he says they need to do what they can to take advantage of a roster he believes can win a championship."At some point, they need to get in that room to recognize where they are, recognize how they got there. That's the thing. How did we get here? Each of us talk about how we got here. How did we play a role in this? More importantly, how can we walk out of this room aligned together because we've done too much not to allow something."If it's not fixable, then understand what needs to happen and move on."Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. New Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta flatly refuted speculation that he doesn't get along with head coach John Harbaugh."We live about 100 yards apart from each other, and I can tell you this, John is the only coach I want to work with," DeCosta said during his introductory press conference on Wednesday. After working up the ranks and serving as Baltimore's assistant general manager since 2012, DeCosta was promoted to the lead role on Jan. 11 when longtime GM Ozzie Newsome stepped down. Harbaugh later inked a four-year contract extension to remain head coach through 2022.But while the two men have worked together in Baltimore since Harbaugh signed on in 2008 - winning a Super Bowl in 2012 - there have also been reports of a disconnect in their relationship, which the new GM denied."John's had such a great experience with Ozzie, and I think in his heart, he knows it's going to be the same way (with me)," DeCosta said."John's also a very humble person. He just wants to do what’s best for the organization. What we’ve done has worked in the past. He and I have a good relationship. I think he respects me, and I respect him very, very much. I think it will be a great partnership."Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Who has two thumbs and will be betting at least one prop on Super Bowl Sunday? Probably you, dear reader. Here are our 20 favorite individual player props, with many more prop bets to come later in the week.Patriots RB James White: Under 52.5 receiving yards (+114)The Rams only allowed 28.3 receiving yards to opposing running backs this season, good for No. 3 in the league. James White has surpassed 52 yards through the air just once in his previous six games.Patriots WR Chris Hogan: Over 39.5 receiving yards (-114)The Rams were one of the worst secondaries against opposing No. 1 receivers all season, but cornerback Aqib Talib is now back in the fold and could change that. We're looking for Chris Hogan to step up as a secondary option for quarterback Tom Brady.Patriots WR Julian Edelman's longest reception: Under 23.5 yards (-115)How much longer can Julian Edelman run amok in the secondary? We'll pay to find out, but a huge gain is unlikely.Rams QB Jared Goff: Over 281.5 passing yards (-120)New England's secondary can be attacked and it's one that wasn't tested all that much during the regular season. Jared Goff hasn't been given a ton of credit this postseason, but you can expect head coach Sean McVay to put him in a position to succeed with two weeks of preparation.Goff: record first passing TD of game (EVEN)The Patriots have a knack for slow starts in Super Bowls, which might give Goff some extra time to get this prop home.Goff: Super Bowl MVP (+250)Seven of the previous nine MVP winners have unsurprisingly been quarterbacks. If the Rams pull this one out, Goff will be the driving force.Goff: Over 2 touchdown passes (-115)Yes, we really expect Goff to light it up.Rams LB Cory Littleton: Over 8.5 tackles and assists (-114)Cory Littleton has been all over the field for the Rams this season and should be busy in the middle of the field against a methodical Patriots offense.Rams RB Todd Gurley: longest reception Over 12.5 yards (-105)Todd Gurley has collected only 6 yards through the air this postseason, but we expect him to become more of a focal point in the passing game on Sunday.Gurley: Over 102.5 rushing and receiving yards (-115)This falls in line with the aforementioned blurb. He's had two weeks to recover from a lingering injury and should see plenty of touches.Patriots RB Sony Michel: Under 0.5 receptions (-115)The Patriots get plenty of running backs involved in the passing game but Sony Michel isn't typically one of them. He's caught a pass in only one of his previous six contests. No special teams or defensive touchdown scored (-200)Playing this at -200 might be a bit chalky as these can be unpredictable, but the two teams combined for just nine special teams/defensive touchdowns all season long.Rams P Johnny Hekker's shortest punt: Over 37.5 yards (-115)McVay's isn't the biggest gambler but he's savvy, and one would think he'd be aggressive if the Rams' offense sits in no man's land. Johnny Hekker isn't expected to be punting all too often anyway, so take the over on his shortest punt.Patriots CB Devin McCourty: Over 5.5 tackles and assists (-115)Devin McCourty and the Patriots' secondary could be especially busy in the defensive backfield with what we expect to be a ton of downfield plays for the Rams.Rams WR Josh Reynolds: Over 3.5 receptions (+110)Josh Reynolds has taken on a bigger role since Cooper Kupp went down with a season-ending injury, seeing 6.5 targets per game after Kupp exited the fold.Patriots WR Phillip Dorsett: anytime touchdown (+300)Phillip Dorsett comes into the Super Bowl having scored a touchdown in each of the previous three games and matches up with a Rams secondary that is No. 24 in the NFL in DVOA against receivers who aren't No. 1 or No. 2 options.Patriots WR Cordarrelle Patterson: anytime touchdown (+700)This is strictly a value play on an electric playmaker who boasts the speed to score any time the ball's in his hands.Rams: Under 1.5 sacks (+155)The Patriots' success down the stretch can be largely attributed to how well they've protected Brady. The Rams can get after the quarterback, but head coach Bill Belichick figures to have a game plan that can slow down the rush.Rams DT Aaron Donald: Under 4.5 tackles and assists (-110)Aaron Donald is the X-factor in getting after Brady, but he's had two or fewer tackles in four of the previous six.Rams RB C.J. Anderson: Under 10.5 rushing attempts (-138)C.J. Anderson's been a terrific story through the postseason but with so much on the line, the lion's share of carries will go to Gurley.(Props were taken from Bovada, BetOnline, and Bet365. New York Jets safety Jamal Adams has no regrets about leveling the New England Patriots' mascot at the Pro Bowl."Nah, at the end of the day it was all for the kids," Adams told TMZ Sports at the Merging Vets and Players Super Bowl kickoff party Wednesday night.Adams added that he hasn't reached out to the mascot, and isn't worried about being sued. The defender initially said he heard the man inside the Pat Patriot costume was hospitalized as a result of the hit. However, a Patriots spokesperson told Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal that was inaccurate, and that the man received treatment from an on-site medic.Additionally, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Monday that the man had been checked for a concussion and was dealing with jaw, neck, and back soreness, but still plans on being at Super Bowl LIII.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. New Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens has a fan in quarterback Baker Mayfield."I believe in him," Mayfield said Wednesday on SiriusXM's Mad Dog Sports Radio, according to ESPN's Pat McManamon. "That's not to say anything about anybody else, but you know what? We had something special and I want to build on it."The No. 1 pick of the 2018 draft completed 63.8 percent of his passes for 3,725 yards and 27 touchdowns against 14 interceptions while primarily working under Kitchens' direction. The 44-year-old veteran assistant moved up from running backs coach to supplant Todd Haley as offensive coordinator midway through the season.Mayfield wasn't surprised to see Kitchens rewarded with another promotion as the permanent replacement to interim head coach Gregg Williams heading into the 2019 campaign."I kind of had that sense the whole time," he said. "Seeing how he was, how he didn't change when he made the jump from running backs coach to offensive coordinator. Then just taking over and the difference that we had while he was calling plays. You know what, he had guys believing in him. When you have guys that believe in you as a head coach and respect you, there's going to be great things that happen."Mayfield went 6-7 as the Browns' starter after taking over for an injured Tyrod Taylor in Week 3.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Super Bowl halftime show is a massive cultural event, with performers across genres taking the stage either to remind the world of their talent or to solidify their stardom. Before Maroon 5, Travis Scott, and Big Boi perform for more than 100 million people on Feb. 3, here's a look at the three best and three worst Super Bowl halftime performances of the new millennium.Best3. Beyonce - Super Bowl XLVII (2013)Jeff Kravitz / FilmMagic / GettyBeyonce has rocked the Super Bowl halftime show twice in the last six years, most recently saving Coldplay's performance alongside Bruno Mars in 2016.With a pared-down set and props, the 2013 show focused solely on Beyonce, who dominated the stage and brought out the other members of Destiny's Child to kick the performance into another gear. She was the first solo female artist to headline the show since Diana Ross in 1996, a trend that's since changed with two women headlining in the last five years."There haven't been that many women that have done the Super Bowl halftime show," Beyonce said of setting a high bar for her 2013 performance. "I had to hold it down for the ladies."2. Prince - Super Bowl XLI (2007)Theo Wargo / Getty Images Sport / GettyBefore Super Bowl XLI, it hadn't rained at a Super Bowl in 40 years. Luckily, Prince was the halftime performer. He wasn't afraid to lean into the elements. When told by a member of the production team that it was raining on the day of the game, Prince replied, "can you make it rain harder?"While it poured down at Sun Life Stadium, Prince concluded his show with 'Purple Rain' - the perfect end to one of the greatest halftime performances ever.1. Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Nelly, P. Diddy, Jessica Simpson, Kid Rock - Super Bowl XXXVIII (2004)The infamous 2004 performance immediately comes to mind when one thinks of Super Bowl halftime shows. It crossed all ages, genders, and races. It also marred the career of Janet Jackson, changed live viewing regulations, and even helped birth YouTube. The show was messy, over the top, and extremely fun. P. Diddy, wearing an oversized winter coat, moved across the stage on a conveyor belt. Nelly was driven to the stage in a large red car while the lyrics to "Hot in Here" played over the sound system. Kid Rock made a dramatic entrance in a Dallas Cowboys robe before throwing it into the crowd to unveil a hilarious American flag poncho. All of this before a wardrobe malfunction that changed the course of history.Reflecting on the controversy of the 2004 halftime performance, it's easy to forget the incredible show put on by some of the biggest stars of that time. Diddy may have put it best when he said, "I put six months of my life into the preparations and nobody even knew I performed."Worst3. Phil Collins, Christina Aguilera, Enrique Iglesias, Toni Braxton - Super Bowl XXXIV (2000)Allen Kee / Getty Images Sport / GettyThis show from 2000 was clearly devoted to spectacle but lacked any real substance. For the majority of the performance, Christina Aguilera and Enrique Iglesias were surrounded by strange towering puppets in an extravagant advertisement for the Disney World Millennium Celebration.2. The Who - Super Bowl XLIV (2010)Doug Benc / Getty Images Entertainment / GettyThe Who performed a five-song medley that felt more like a taped recital than a Super Bowl halftime show. Sitting through this 12-minute performance while the camera alternated between the same two shots was enough to put anyone to sleep.1. The Black Eyed Peas, Usher, Slash - Super Bowl XLV (2011)It seemed no one was more excited for the Black Eyed Peas' halftime performance than the Black Eyed Peas, making their awful show all the more uncomfortable to behold. A catalog of sure-fire hits should have been able to carry the set, but some flat singing from Fergie and an awkward rendition of "Sweet Child O' Mine" featuring a bored Slash made this the worst Super Bowl halftime performance since 2000.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc.
