Every Tuesday during the season, theScore's NFL editors run down the recommended waiver wire pickups.Ownership percentages are based on Yahoo! leagues. Friday is the first day Aaron Rodgers is eligible to return from injured reserve. Though the Green Bay Packers don't practice on Fridays, the quarterback could return for Saturday's session.Rodgers, who broke his collarbone in Week 6, was seen throwing a pass about 50 yards before Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. On Monday, head coach Mike McCarthy wouldn't shut down the possibility of Rodgers coming of IR by Saturday."We'll see," McCarthy said, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "I mean, he's still going through - there's a protocol, there's targets we're trying to hit each and every week. I think they're working (on it), and it's segmented. The A-No. 1 priority is to get him healthy. Practice is not something we're really focused on right now."I'm more focused on game planning for the Buccaneers. There's a plan laid out for Aaron, just like the other guys on IR. He's knocking it out of the park, he's going at it 120 miles an hour. We'll see what the end of the week brings."If Rodgers does come off IR by Saturday, he wouldn't be eligible to play Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Cleveland Browns in Week 14. The Packers would likely need to win both upcoming games to remain in the wild-card hunt for Rodgers' return. If the team is no longer in playoff contention by the time Rodgers can play, they may keep him off the field for precautionary reasons.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Oakland Raiders wide receiver Michael Crabtree and Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib have been suspended two games each for unsportsmanlike conduct and unnecessary roughness violations. Both players are appealing their suspensions, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The appeals will be heard by either Derrick Brooks or James Thrash.Crabtree punched Broncos cornerback Chris Harris in the stomach, then fought with Talib on the next play. It was the second time both players have engaged in conflict, and for the second consecutive year Talib snatched Crabtree's chain.NFL vice president of football operations Jon Runyan wrote the following:

Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams intends to play the duration of the season despite harboring a knee injury that will need surgery at the end of the year.Williams has played in eight games this season, fighting through the injury for most of the season.Even if the Redskins are eliminated from the playoff race, Williams has every intention of finishing the season."I still think there's some merit to me finishing out this season, regardless if we're in playoff contention or not," Williams said to Master Tesfatsion of The Washington Post. "There's still some outstanding opponents that I would like to go up against, like (Broncos pass rusher) Von Miller. Even the guys from the Chargers with (Melvin) Ingram and (Joey) Bosa - those guys are tearing it up right now. They're probably the two best pass-rushers on one team. … I always like going up against good opponents, because you get a measuring stick of who you are. I still think there's merit in going up against those types of guys. That's my mind frame. I'm trying to make the best out of any situation."Williams has been named to five consecutive Pro Bowls and said his goal is to make the league's All-Star game for the sixth year in a row, despite not playing as well as he has in previous years due to injury."I'm not what I know I can be, but I'm not terrible," Williams said. "You look at the film, and I'm still (playing) at a high level, at a Pro Bowl level. I'm not really worried about that. Me, I just want to continue to elevate. Having this injury, it's hard to elevate. I'm kind of at a plateau because it's hard to work to get better. I'm just trying to maintain. In that sense, it's frustrating because I want my eighth year to be better than my seventh."Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio was not pleased with the hit by Denver Broncos safety Darian Stewart that gave receiver Amari Cooper a concussion and a sprained ankle on Sunday.Stewart received a flag on the play for unnecessary roughness as Cooper was knocked out of the contest and could not return, though Del Rio expects the league to dish out further punishment to the eighth-year safety."It was a vicious hit," Del Rio said Monday, according to ESPN's Paul Gutierrez. "The kind we're trying to remove from our game, quite frankly. You see less and less of those. I'm sure the league will take a hard look at it."Those are the kinds of impact hits that don't need to be a part of our game right now. The guy is clearly defenseless and got targeted right in the head. There's a chance to hit in the strike zone and be somewhere else and not be there like that."

Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib spoke candidly Monday about his ongoing feud with Oakland Raiders wide receiver Michael Crabtree. For the second time in as many years, Talib snatched Crabtree's chain, leading to both of their ejections.Crabtree had apparently prepared for Talib, taping the chain to himself before the game, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, but the Broncos cornerback got it anyways.Talib downplayed his role in the incident, inferring that Crabtree was the aggressor."I came out there to play football on Sunday," Talib said via NFL.com. "I really don't know what he came out there to do. I just came out there to play football. He came out here on his extra stuff - one thing led to another, man. It's unfortunate. I wish it didn't happen, but it happened."Talib also spoke up for teammate Chris Harris, who alleged that Crabtree punched him in the stomach one play prior to his ejection."If you see the play, I didn't defend Chris," Talib said. "He punched Chris, next play he came (and) punched me. So, I mean, so he was on whatever he was on. So, I wasn't even defending Chris this time, it wasn't a problem."Talib and Crabtree's feud has breathed life into a rivalry that had grown dormant, with the Broncos and Raiders woefully underperforming this season.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. The New England Patriots have placed tight end Martellus Bennett on injured reserve with a shoulder injury less than three weeks after claiming him off waivers from the Green Bay Packers, the team announced Monday.Bennett played just two games in his return to the Patriots this season before sitting out last Sunday's contest against the Miami Dolphins. While Bennett was officially listed with a shoulder injury, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that a hamstring issue also heavily contributed to his IR designation. Before being released by the Packers, Bennett had posted via social media that this would likely be his last season in the NFL and that he had planned to play out the remainder of the season. He was released by the Packers with a "failure to disclose a medical condition" designation that Bennett disputed, saying Green Bay knew of his shoulder injury and that its team doctor pressured him to play through it. Several Packers players spoke up in defense of their team doctor. If this is Bennett's final season in the NFL, he will retire with 430 receptions for 4,558 yards and 30 touchdowns. He was also voted to the Pro Bowl in 2014 and won Super Bowl LI with the Patriots. The Patriots also placed special teams ace Nate Ebner on injured reserve with a knee injury.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Denver Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch will miss two-to-four weeks due to the ankle injury sustained in Sunday's loss to the Oakland Raiders, head coach Vance Joseph announced Monday on Orange and Blue 760.Trevor Siemian will take over for Lynch in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins, regaining the starting job he held for the first seven games of the campaign.Lynch's injury is the latest twist in what's been a roller-coaster ride at the quarterback position for the Broncos this year.Siemian - who started all 16 games of the 2016 season - handily beat out Lynch in training camp. However, after seven weeks of offensive struggles, the Broncos benched Siemian in favor of Brock Osweiler while Lynch recovered from a shoulder injury.Lynch, a former first-round pick, was handed his first start of the campaign Sunday against the Oakland Raiders, but was extremely ineffective. He averaged 2.9 yards per pass and threw an interception before the ankle injury forced him to the sidelines. He has caught four passes for 62 yards in two appearances. However, Benjamin remains the top target in what is arguably an average wide receiver group. Denver Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch is considered day to day with a sprained ankle sustained in Sunday's loss to the Oakland Raiders, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Lynch was struggling mightily before the injury in his first start of the season, finishing 9-of-14 for 41 yards and one interception. Meanwhile, Trevor Siemian threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns in relief. The Broncos will now have to decide who to roll with as their starter.Despite Lynch's poor performance, Denver likely wants to give its former first-round pick more of a chance before moving on from him. And at 3-8, the Broncos' playoff hopes have long since been extinguished. However, Siemian proved he's currently the superior player with his performance against the Raiders, and starting the ineffective Lynch over him may be a hard sell to a locker room that's used to success.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. About the time Nathan Peterman was throwing his fourth pick of the first half against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11, not many people gave the Buffalo Bills much of a chance at making the playoffs.By the time he threw the fifth, Bills fans were already looking toward next season. However, a week later, Buffalo doesn't look too far off from ending a playoff drought that's plagued the team since 1999.The Bills' 16-10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday breathed new life into a squad that now sits 6-5 without an overly intimidating schedule remaining.Week Opponent Record13vs. Patriots9-214vs. Colts3-815vs. Dolphins4-716at Patriots9-217at Dolphins4-7In a wide-open AFC playoff race that currently has the Bills sitting in a tie for sixth, a 9-7 record would likely earn Buffalo a wild-card spot and 10-6 record would essentially guarantee a postseason berth.Despite the New England Patriots being the class of the AFC for a little over a decade, the Bills have managed to split their season series with their divisional foe two of the last three years. Next week, the Patriots likely won't have their foot off the gas, but by Week 16, their motivation may dip if they've already locked up the division or even a wild-card bye. Obviously, the Bills would need to take at least one win off the Patriots to achieve a 10-6 mark, but even if they can't, a 9-7 record should certainly be attainable. With Tyrod Taylor at the helm, the Bills' best bet is to let their quarterback take care of the football against the Colts and Dolphins - two teams that have had issues with getting out of their own way. If the Bills can get pressure on Jacoby Brissett and Jay Cutler (or Matt Moore), they will be able to get both sacks and turnovers on a regular basis.Taylor has thrown just three interceptions all season after tossing a total of six in each of his previous two seasons. He may not throw for 400 yards per game or orchestrate the most exciting offense, but one thing the Bills can count on with Taylor is that he won't lose the game for them. The Bills still have a leg up on their competition for the wild-card spot. The other teams in contention are the Jacksonville Jaguars (7-4) and Tennessee Titans (7-4), who are battling each other for the AFC South, the Baltimore Ravens (5-5), the Cincinnati Bengals (5-6), and the Los Angeles Chargers (5-6) and Chiefs (6-5), who are both in contention for the AFC West. The Chiefs are trending down with losses in four of their last five contests, while the Chargers are looking to storm back from their 0-4 start with dominant wins in the last two weeks. The two AFC West contenders face off in Week 15. The Bills own the tiebreaker over the Chiefs, but not over the Chargers. The Jaguars and Titans will also have a meeting in Week 17 that could determine their division race, though it's questionable how much longer Tennessee can keep up their trend of winning games by less than a touchdown. Five of the Titans' seven wins this season have come by five points or less. The Ravens and Bengals have essentially already lost the AFC North to the Steelers, so it's wild card or nothing for them. The Bengals face only one team with a losing record the rest of the season while the Ravens get to take on the Texans, Browns, and Colts before Cincinnati in Week 17.None of the fellow wild-card contenders can really claim to have produced much more consistency than what the Bills have done under Taylor, perhaps aside from the Jaguars, who may not be battling for the same spot as Buffalo. It seemed like the Bills had given up on the season when they opted to give Peterman a chance to start while still in a playoff position. Buffalo certainly isn't going to morph into a Super Bowl contender in the remaining five games, but given what they've already been through this season, Bills fans would gladly take a postseason berth for the first time in a while.(Photos courtesy: Getty Images)Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. History is often predictive of future success, though few would have forecast the Philadelphia Eagles steamrolling their competition to the tune of an NFL-best 10-1 record. The Eagles are practically and philosophically emulating a juggernaut of yesteryear in the 2015 Carolina Panthers; both teams were written off as afterthoughts prior to their rise, had MVP-caliber quarterbacks who broke out of nowhere, and offered charismatic celebrations that elevated otherwise dull seasons. To recap: the 2015 Panthers weren't considered genuine contenders, finishing 7-8-1 the previous year, while head coach Ron Rivera's risk aversion was a major topic of referendum. Many derided Cam Newton as a merely entertaining player incapable of winning at the professional level, despite a marvelous end to his college career which culminated in the Heisman Trophy and a national title. However, the 2015 Panthers emerged as surprise juggernauts; Rivera began gambling successfully on third and fourth downs at a nearly unmatched rate, and Newton became arguably the league's best and most captivating player. Carolina ultimately fell short in the Super Bowl but provided a lasting blueprint for teams to emulate. In many regards, Carson Wentz shares similarities with Newton, although their games are dissimilar. Wentz, selected second overall in the 2016 NFL Draft, was criticized for his poor performances as his rookie year wore on, prompting some to believe the Eagles made a mistake. It's now clear he merely needed to acclimate to the professional game as he's not only proven to be the Eagles quarterback of the future, but is also a leading candidate to become the first MVP in franchise history since Norm Van Brocklin in 1960. Wentz has thrown 28 touchdowns, three interceptions, and hurled his critics into the lake. No one saw it coming, but it's easy to envision him cleaning up at the awards show while steering the Eagles into the Super Bowl this winter.Prior to Sunday's game, the Eagles led the NFL with 32 points per game, bettering the 2015 Panthers' league-best mark of 31.3. Although both teams were lauded for their scorching offenses, each club quietly established themselves as elite defensive units. Carolina led the league with 24 interceptions, finished sixth with 44 sacks, and flummoxed teams in both the running and passing game with standout linebackers Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis. The Eagles have built a similar blueprint, ranking second in the NFL with 14 interceptions and tied for fifth in sacks with 29 prior to Sunday's game. Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham have been dominant and are the engineers of the league's most underrated front seven, while Malcolm Jenkins, Patrick Robinson, and Ronald Darby have somehow jelled into one of the league's most potent secondaries. The Eagles don't have a flashy name like Seattle's Legion of Boom or Denver's No Fly Zone, but make no mistake - they're turning heads as the season races toward its conclusion.Amid seasons littered by suspensions, legal battles, and other controversies, the Panthers and Eagles emerged as the league's most fun teams. Newton's patented dab added some flavor while irking some of their more conservative constituents, and the QB also orchestrated team photos.Taking full advantage of relaxed celebration rules, the Eagles appear to be spiritual soulmates, with Alshon Jeffery bowling a strike, while posing for team photos of their own:

The Kansas City Chiefs have lost five of their last six games, and quarterback Alex Smith struggled once again in Sunday's 16-10 defeat to the Buffalo Bills, throwing for 199 yards, one touchdown, and an interception. Now at 6-5 and barely clinging to their division lead, it's a far departure from when the Chiefs were 5-0 and the talk of the NFL.Despite the downturn, Chiefs coach Andy Reid isn't considering a quarterback change."That's not where I'm at right now," Reid said in his postgame press conference. "We've got a couple other things to take care of."In their past two games, the Chiefs have managed just 19 points combined against the Bills and Giants, who both feature below-average defenses. But rather than singling out his quarterback, Reid said there's plenty of blame to go around."Everybody's got a piece," the coach added. "I can do a better job of putting (Smith) in better positions to make plays. The offensive line can block better and receivers, you know, every catch isn't going to be an easy catch. So we've all got a little of this."Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.

NFL teams that expect to have head coaching vacancies this offseason believe they have a chance to pry Jim Harbaugh away from Michigan, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported on "FOX NFL Sunday."Glazer said Harbaugh remains "a very hot candidate" for jobs around the league, and many franchises hope the coach's standing at Michigan continues to deteriorate following his third loss in three tries against Ohio State - the latest setback in a disappointing season for the Wolverines.Related: Harbaugh joins Rich Rod as only Michigan coaches to start 0-3 vs. Ohio StateHarbaugh spent four seasons in charge of the San Francisco 49ers and elevated them among the league's best teams. The 49ers won 36 games in his first three years and appeared in three straight NFC Championship Games.Despite his previous success at the NFL level, teams reportedly believe it would take a lot to convince Harbaugh to leave his alma mater.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. The NFL's investigation into allegations that Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston groped a female Uber driver isn't expected to be complete by the end of the season, a league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. This means the NFL could be dealing with another high-profile, off-field case for the second straight offseason after the lengthy investigation into domestic violence allegations leveled at Ezekiel Elliott. The league started its investigation into the March 2016 incident involving Winston by speaking with Buccaneers head of security Andres Trescastro, reports Schefter, characterizing the conversation as "introductory and exploratory."The Uber driver alleges that Winston grabbed her crotch, which he denies. The driver said only Winston was in the car, but Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby has since contradicted her. Darby says he was in the vehicle with Winston and one other passenger, and called the allegations "inaccurate." Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston is nearing a return from his shoulder injury, as injections designed to speed up the rehabilitation process seem to have been effective, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.Winston has missed two games and is set to miss his third this Sunday."I'm told a couple weeks ago he had PRP injections - platelet-rich plasma treatment - in other words, blood spinning," Rapoport said, according to Kevin Patra of NFL.com. "... It takes about two weeks to take hold for Winston. He does have an MRI on Monday and the team is holding out hope before saying anything ... but I am told he feels great, looks great, and his return is coming."Ryan Fitzpatrick has played admirably in Winston's absence, helping the Buccaneers win both his starts.Tampa Bay has four divisional games remaining on its schedule, so a fully healthy Winston's return would be a major boost - especially since a Week 12 win could give the Buccaneers a glimmer of hope of making the playoffs.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Cleveland Browns plan to activate Josh Gordon in Week 13, meaning the wide receiver will return to an NFL field against the Los Angeles Chargers for the first time since December 2014, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The NFL reinstated Gordon at the start of November on a conditional basis following multiple suspensions for failed drug tests."I felt pretty good," Gordon told reporters Friday. "I think I knocked that rust off prior to getting back into the building so that was what I was looking forward to do."Gordon's return couldn't come at a better time for Cleveland. The Browns are still searching for their first win of the 2017 season, and their poor play at receiver has been a big reason for the 0-10 start. The 26-year-old displayed elite talent before off-field issues derailed his career. Even after the San Francisco 49ers' bold trade deadline deal for Jimmy Garoppolo, they've yet to play him despite the quarterback being in the final year of his contract. There's no guarantee the rebuilding Niners will ink the 26-year-old to a long-term deal, but the franchise-tag option provides the franchise with some comfort."He does not have to play (this season)," head coach Kyle Shanahan said on KNBR radio's Tolbert and Lund podcast, according to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Gate. "It's not that we're coming to this deadline and we've got to decide our future, ours and his, for both sides. We've got six games left and we're going to have next year, also."I know you have to franchise a quarterback to keep him, but quarterbacks are expensive. And that is not that big of a deal to us."The 49ers have around $51 million in cap space looking ahead to 2018.If the franchise tag is placed on Garoppolo, he would earn a substantial pay raise. His first contract paid him an average annual salary of $870,000. He would make roughly $25 million on a one-year tag."It would be great if it could work out that way (a long-term contract), but that's just not the situation any of us are in," Shanahan said. "So you want to play it out. That is the good thing about the franchise tag and that's what, to me, made it an easier decision to trade for him at the time we did."Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Mark Ingram is playing his way out of New Orleans. That is not a misprint. If the Saints running back is named a first-team All-Pro by the Associated Press, it would meet an incentive in his contract allowing him to become a free agent a year early, according to Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Advocate. The seven-year vet, who signed a four-year extension with the Saints in 2015, is currently scheduled to hit free agency in 2019.Ingram could have triggered that clause had he been named to the Pro Bowl in any of the past two seasons, but he fell short. However, he's currently having the best season of his life. Ingram ranks fourth in the NFL in rushing yards with 806 and he's on pace to top the career-best mark he reached last season when he ran for 1,043 yards. He has also scored eight touchdowns while sharing duties with rookie Alvin Kamara. The All-Pro team is revealed in January. The Associated Press only selects one running back as its first-team representative, so Ingram would have to contend with the likes of Le'Veon Bell, Kareem Hunt, Todd Gurley, Leonard Fournette, and others for the honor.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Pittsburgh Steelers vs. the Green Bay Packers may be Sunday's prime-time game, but the true must-see contest of the day is in the City of Angels. The red-hot New Orleans Saints are set to face the high-flying Los Angeles Rams in a battle of two of the league's most potent and exciting offenses.Only the Philadelphia Eagles are scoring more points per game than the Saints and Rams, but which of Sunday's challengers has the advantage in the key offensive areas?Head coach/playcallingSean McVay has blown everyone away with how quickly he's transformed the Rams' offense from a joke into a juggernaut. He may be the league's most creative play-caller, and opposing defenses have been playing catch-up all season long, unable to find consistent answers to McVay's versatile attack. But McVay is walking a path Sean Payton helped build. The Saints' head coach has produced over a decade of mind-boggling, historic offensive output, and deserves significant plaudits for rejuvenating the team's rushing attack this season and lessening Drew Brees' workload.Payton's experience could tilt this battle in the Saints' favor, but McVay has already proven he has the talent and smarts to overcome his youth.Advantage: TieQuarterbackThe fact this section requires more than just one sentence speaks volumes about how much Jared Goff has improved following an abysmal rookie campaign.A lot of the credit goes to McVay for designing a quarterback-friendly scheme that emphasizes Goff's skill set, but the second-year pivot's improvement isn't just down to his head coach; Goff is making smart reads, being aggressive when required, and protecting the football.Despite all this, this is still the easiest section to call. Brees is still, well, Drew freakin' Brees. Yes, the Saints' new-found dominant running game is a major reason for their success, but the quarterback proved he's still the key cog in this offense during the epic 15-point overtime comeback in Week 11.Advantage: SaintsRunning back(Photo courtesy: Action Images)What's preferable: two good running backs with complementary skill sets or one great running back who can do everything?Mark Ingram and rookie Alvin Kamara have formed the most productive tandem in the league since Adrian Peterson was sent packing. The Saints have been unstoppable on the ground, averaging over 200 yards per game over the last three weeks.Still, Todd Gurley is the biggest offensive game-changer in this matchup. As good a receiver as he is a runner, Gurley is on pace for nearly 2,000 yards from scrimmage and 17 total touchdowns. This one is just too close to call.Advantage: TiePass-catchersUnfortunately, the most in-form receiver in this game, Robert Woods, won't play due to a shoulder injury. It remains to be seen how L.A.'s passing game will look without Woods, who has 322 yards and four touchdowns over the past three games. It's not like the Rams are left weaponless, however. Sammy Watkins hasn't made the consistent impact the team likely hoped for, but the wideout has produced a handful of downfield plays. Cooper Kupp has been Goff's go-to man in critical situations, and will surely be highly motivated to make up for a terrible performance in Week 11.But without Woods, it's clear the Saints' depth of receiving options wins out. Michael Thomas hasn't made the leap most expected of him, but he's still an upper-tier wideout. Ted Ginn, tight end Coby Fleener, and Brandon Coleman are solid options for an offense that uses Kamara essentially as the No. 2 guy in the passing game.Advantage: SaintsOffensive lineThe quarterbacks, running games, and head coaches of the Rams and Saints have rightfully been showered with praise for their teams' success, but both offenses wouldn't be anywhere as lethal if not for the standout play upfront.Brees has been sacked just 10 times, the fewest in the league. Meanwhile, the Rams have kept Goff almost as clean, allowing 15 sacks. L.A. also boasts this game's best offensive lineman in veteran left tackle Andrew Whitworth. However, the Saints' offensive line is a big reason for the run game's success, allowing the fewest stuffed runs (where the running back is tackled or behind the line of scrimmage) in the league.Advantage: SaintsConclusionThe Saints are the clear winners of the head-to-head battles, taking three of the five categories and tying the other two. But, of course, these two units aren't playing in a vacuum.New Orleans will face a strong Rams defense, led by arguably the NFL's best defensive player in Aaron Donald and defensive coordinator in Wade Phillips.Meanwhile, the Rams have caught a major break, as breakout rookie cornerback Marshon Lattimore and fellow starter Ken Crawley will miss the game with injuries. The Saints' revitalized defense may not be able to continue its upward trend with a severely weakened secondary. One thing's for sure, though: the NFL world is set to be treated to one of the best shootouts of the season.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. Head coaching seats are heating up around the league with just six weeks remaining in the 2017 regular season. But, while some head coaches are seemingly barreling toward unemployment - Ben McAdoo, Hue Jackson, and Chuck Pagano - the futures of other embattled coaches are unclear. Here are three whose teams need to show substantial improvement over the last six weeks in order to keep their job:Vance Joseph, BroncosRemaining schedule: at Raiders, at Dolphins, vs. Jets, at Colts, at Redskins, vs. ChiefsJoseph was an uninspiring hire from Day 1 - especially as the Denver Broncos were clearly in dire need of someone to revamp the offense, as Sean McVay has done with the Los Angeles Rams.Joseph and the Broncos have fallen far short of the modest expectations most had for the team entering 2017. Denver sits at 3-7, and hasn't won since Oct. 1. Worst of all, the once-dominant defense has looked like a shell of its former self over the past three weeks, allowing a combined 118 points to the Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, and Cincinnati Bengals.John Elway has continued to support Joseph, but he's still in real danger of being one-and-done as a head coach. How Joseph helps Paxton Lynch traverse his first real extended action as the Broncos' starter could decide his fate.Marvin Lewis, Bengals(Photo courtesy: Getty Images)Remaining schedule: vs. Browns, vs. Steelers, vs. Bears, at Vikings, vs. Lions, at RavensLewis has led the Bengals franchise for 15 years, but his future is in serious doubt as the team looks set to miss the postseason for the second straight campaign. The head coach is out of a contract after this year, but the owner, the overly frugal Mike Brown, will likely look for any opening to retain Lewis and keep his competent coaching staff in place - though, it's possible Lewis opts for retirement. If Lewis is to save his job, a drastic improvement will need to be seen on the offensive side of the ball, in particular. The Bengals are simply too talented to be the league's worst unit, averaging just 265.6 yards per game. The bad news for Lewis is that Cincinnati will face three top-tier defenses down the stretch, and even Brown likely won't be able to overlook the potential embarrassing blowout losses.Dirk Koetter, Buccaneers Remaining schedule: at Falcons, at Packers, vs. Lions, vs. Falcons, at Panthers, vs. SaintsKoetter's fate appeared to be sealed after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to 2-6 in Week 9 while Jameis Winston was forced to the sidelines to rest his injured shoulder. But, back-to-back wins under the guidance of Ryan Fitzpatrick has given Koetter a chance at staying in Tampa Bay. While Fitzpatrick has been solid, it's highly unlikely the Bucs will be able to rack up the necessary wins if Winston is unable to return, with four daunting divisional games still to come.Tampa Bay was an offseason darling, and the weight of those failed expectations might be too much for Koetter to overcome. However, the Bucs went all in on him, ousting Lovie Smith back in 2015 when he was the team's offensive coordinator. It's possible they give him one more shot if they can get close to .500.Copyright © 2017 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. Certain content reproduced under license.
