More details have surfaced regarding the victims of the fatal crash on the QEW in Burlington Tuesday morning (Jan. 26).The four-vehicle crash, which occurred sometime before 6 a.m when multiple cars collided near the ramp from Brant Street, left two women dead and three others injured.The two deceased reportedly were in their 20s, one from Cambridge and one from Owen Sound, police said.One other person was taken to a trauma centre in critical condition and two others were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.Both directions of the highway were closed for “a significant collision investigation.” The OPP announced the opening of the westbound lanes of the QEW at Brant Street around 3 p.m. in a tweet. The eastbound lanes reopened not long after.In an update, OPP Const. Kevin Westhead called it “a devastating situation.”“A Mitsubishi car crossed over from the westbound lanes into the eastbound lanes where there was a significant collision,” the constable said on the scene earlier.
