Disgruntled receiver Antonio Brown rejected the Pittsburgh Steelers' request to delay his $2.5-million roster bonus for salary cap purposes, a source told Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk. The Steelers will incur a dead cap charge of $23.62 million if they trade Brown after awarding the bonus, which is due March 16. They would save $2.5 million against the cap by trading him before sending the bonus check.Pittsburgh cannot trade Brown to a new team until March 13, the first official day of the new league year. The Steelers' reported request could suggest they aren't confident a deal will come to fruition over the next two weeks.Brown asked the Steelers to send him elsewhere after his relationship with the franchise deteriorated over the course of the season. The seven-time Pro Bowler posted 104 receptions for 1,297 yards and 15 touchdowns last season. He's eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in receiving six consecutive years.Brown, 30, is expected to seek a new deal that includes more guaranteed money from any team that acquires him.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. It's reportedly universally believed among NFL teams that the Arizona Cardinals will use the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft on quarterback Kyler Murray - and that's bad news for Nick Bosa. The Ohio State pass-rusher was the presumptive first overall pick in April's draft before Murray announced he was passing on a pro baseball career to enter the NFL.Bosa isn't taking too kindly to playing second fiddle. He said Saturday at the NFL combine the Cardinals would be making a "big mistake" by passing on him, per Dan Parr of NFL.com."I wouldn't say anything about Kyler, I would just say that I'm somebody who loves the game more than anybody," Bosa said. "I'm going to come in and I'm going to work everyday, every practice trying to find new things to better myself. If you do draft me, then you have somebody who's going to improve throughout my entire career."Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. All rights reserved. More details are emerging of Antonio Brown's quarrel with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The four-time All-Pro receiver has grown disgruntled with the only franchise he's ever known, citing disconnects with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and team management as the reasons for his trade request in February."I don't take any blame," Brown said in an interview with ESPN's Jeff Darlington. "I just think I took responsibility for my situation. You know, I didn't point the finger, I didn't make no one look bad, I didn't throw no stones at anyone."In a clip from the interview shared Friday, Brown said Roethlisberger's penchant for calling him out publicly was the final straw for him. He shared even more about the duo's relationship, or lack thereof."I would've liked for me and Ben to be cool. You know what I mean? I thought we was cool. But when I think ... I've been to his house one time. He's been to my house one time. You know what I mean?" he said. "We don't work out in the offseason. You think that's winning? That's not winning."Brown said the same goes for his relationship with management, despite his nine-year stint with the team."Sometimes things are bigger than just my issues, you know? If you work for me for nine years, wouldn't you expect you to know my girlfriend's name or my dad's name or my kid or, you know, would you expect me to meet your kid or at least know you on the level of some sort of integrity to know, like, 'Hey, man, I appreciate what you do," Brown said.He expects to be traded by March 17, when he's due a $2.5-million roster bonus.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Larry Fitzgerald chimed in Saturday on the Steelers' dramatic offseason, suggesting Antonio Brown doesn't properly appreciate the quarterback situation in Pittsburgh. The decorated Arizona Cardinals receiver was asked about his fellow wideout while appearing on a panel at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, according to Rene Bugner."I love AB. Mr. Big Chest is a good friend of mine. But I don't think he's going about it the right way, personally," Fitzgerald said. "To be able to play with an all-time quarterback like he's able to play with, I don't think he understands how good he has it. It can get tough out there. It can get tough out there."Ben Roethlisberger has been the starting quarterback for all but four games during Brown's career.Fitzgerald's played with 16 different starting quarterbacks over his 15 years with the Cardinals, according to Pro Football Talk. His last five signal-callers were Josh Rosen, Sam Bradford, Blaine Gabbert, Drew Stanton, and Carson Palmer.Pittsburgh is currently fielding offers for Brown, who's on the trading block. He received 19.4 carries over the first 12 games of the campaign. He missed two contests at the end of the regular season due to a knee injury, which is when Los Angeles signed C.J. Anderson. Both Gurley and Rams head coach Sean McVay strongly denied there are any issues with the knee. A Western New York man faked being abducted and robbed to avoid paying money he owed from his Super Bowl LIII pool, according to police. On Wednesday, troopers found Robert Brandel, 60, of North Tonawanda in the back seat of his Ford F-150 with a rope tied around his neck and attached to the headrest, and his hands and ankles bound with duct tape, New York State Police said in a press release.Brandel told police he had picked up two men who were involved in his Super Bowl squares pool, and one of the men brandished a pistol and took $16,000 in cash from him. Brandel was allegedly running a $50,000-payout Super Bowl pool in which he made up some of the names on the squares in the hopes of winning most of the money. Antonio Brown isn't done talking about Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.During an appearance on HBO's "The Shop" on Friday, the receiver reiterated that Big Ben has an "owner mentality," and said the quarterback's enlarged ego was the final straw during his tenure in Pittsburgh.“All year dude called me out," said Brown. "We'd lose a game and he'd be like, 'AB should have ran a better route.' That's the type of guy he is. He feels like he's the owner. Bro, you threw that s--- to the D-line, how the f--- am I running a bad route? You need to give me a better ball."Brown says he was directed to keep quiet about his issues with Roethlisberger."But it's like in the league, you're going to have a guy from the team that'll be like, 'Boy, you can't say nothing. I need you to get there like ... ' But it's like why I got to be acting?"The 30-year-old added that there was a disconnect between himself and Roethlisberger."I don't have an ego," he said. "I'm just trying to win."Brown also discussed his absences during practices leading up to a crucial Week 17 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, a game in which he was benched."I'm a little banged up," Brown said. "So I meet with coach Tomlin and I'm telling him, 'Hey man I'm banged up so I'm gonna need a little time to get right,' and he was like, 'If you're banged up, you can just go home,' like you ain't even gotta be here, so I'm like 'Damn, that's where we're at?'"I'm going to war for these guys, putting my life on the line but it’s an unknown when it comes to me just like right now with the write-ups. They control the narrative. We ain't standing on good foundation, and they can just paint you any kind of way. That's the thing people don't know, it's kind of a controlled environment to where they can kind of determine if they want to let me eat or not."The seven-time Pro Bowler is on the trading block, and the Oakland Raiders, Tennessee Titans, and Washington Redskins are reportedly expressing the most interest.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. There may be some drama to kick off the 2019 NFL Draft. Some teams believe the Arizona Cardinals are targeting quarterback Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall pick, multiple league sources told SNY's Ralph Vacchiano.Arizona drafted quarterback Josh Rosen 10th overall in 2018, but speculation of its interest in Murray arose when Kliff Kingsbury was hired as the team's new head coach. While still at Texas Tech, Kingsbury said he'd take Murray with the first pick in the draft "if I could."Rumors continued to spread Wednesday when Cardinals general manager Steve Keim told reporters that Rosen was the team's quarterback "right now."The Sooners prospect is expected to be an early first-round pick as one of the top quarterbacks available in April's draft.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The NFL will consider adding a video official to crews in order to correct egregious errors after teams made seven proposals for changes to the replay system, president of football operations Troy Vincent said Friday, according to Mark Maske of the Washington Post.League owners would need to approve the addition of a video official when the matter is voted on, likely at the league meetings in March. The impetus behind the groundswell for change to the replay system is likely the no-call on Los Angeles Rams corner Nickell Robey-Coleman for running into New Orleans Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis before the ball arrived late in the NFC Championship Game.Multiple discussions have been had in league circles, and on Tuesday, the competition committee failed to find consensus on an appropriate change that would rectify such problems.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Richard Sherman isn't quite sure the NFL combine serves its intended purpose. The veteran corner, who took part in the Underwear Olympics coming out of college, opined on the benefits and harm that result from the spotlight on the combine. Though he acknowledged that the event allows prospects to improve their stock or get onto scouts' radar, he argued that players can't accurately be judged based on the results of a number of drills."There needs to be more accountability for these analysts to be judging us on events that don't necessarily translate to the NFL," Sherman wrote on his personal website. He explained: "I just think some of the drills are outdated and cannot accurately depict how well a guy can perform in the NFL. You can have a guy run a 4.1 or 4.2 but cannot play in the NFL, and then you have guys who for their position are 'slow' and yet they last 8-10 years."He also believes some analysts make their judgments and predictions before the combine and simply use the results to confirm their preconceptions.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Dallas Cowboys met with Earl Thomas' reps this week at the NFL Scouting Combine to gauge what the impending free agent is looking for financially, The Athletic's Calvin Watkins reports, citing a source.Thomas, who's spent his entire nine-year career with the Seattle Seahawks, won't officially become a free agent until March 13. But with contract issues seemingly deteriorating the relationship between player and team over the past two seasons, it's widely expected he will test the market. The 29-year-old's hometown Cowboys have long been considered a logical, if not inevitable, suitor as free agency approaches. Thomas first made waves on this front back in 2017 when he ran to the Cowboys' locker room after a game in Dallas and told head coach Jason Garrett, "If you have a chance to get me, come get me."Dallas was also thought to be talking to the Seahawks about a trade at multiple points in 2018, but Seattle's asking price, reportedly having rejected a second-round pick, evidently proved prohibitive.Though looming extensions for Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, and DeMarcus Lawrence could conceivably limit the Cowboys' financial flexibility looking to the future, this week's meeting would appear to suggest that significant interest remains.Richard Sherman, a longtime teammate of Thomas in Seattle, suggested Wednesday that the Cowboys are the preferred destination and any team hoping to sign the superstar safety would have to put forth a better offer."If the money's equal, if all things are equal, he's going to Dallas," Sherman said Wednesday, according to Gregg Bell of The Sacramento Bee. "Now if that (compensation is) not the same, there's more of a discussion, more of a fight. But then it becomes a bidding war. But that's up to people (who) make more major decisions than I."Thomas has started 125 games for the Seahawks after joining the team as a first-round pick in 2010, recording 28 interceptions over that stretch while earning six Pro Bowl appearances.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Johnny Manziel's next football opportunity may already be taking shape.Just one day after he was released by the Montreal Alouettes - a surprise move directed by the CFL on Wednesday due to a breach of agreement - the 26-year-old quarterback is eyeing the AAF.League chairman Tom Dundon told Kevin Allen and Tom Schad of USA Today Sports there's been contact from Manziel's representation and that the AAF has offered him a chance to work out for teams."Right now, it's a decision of the GMs and they can decide what they want to do," Dundon said Thursday. "If talent-wise this is close, the negative of him is that there is drama with him and you are trying to win games and build a team. The positive is that he brings in fans and attention."Because Manziel played at Texas A&M, the San Antonio Commanders hold his rights under the league's college allocation system, Dundon explained. All other teams would have the chance to sign him should the Commanders decline to do so.As is the case for all AAF players, any deal for Manziel would be a three-year, $250,000 pact.A Heisman Trophy winner and a first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns, Manziel played just two seasons in the NFL before being released at the end of the 2015 campaign. He got a chance north of the border after a few years away from football, but his CFL stint ended this week after just one season split between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Alouettes.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. The Kansas City Chiefs have been engaged in trade talks regarding veteran pass-rusher Justin Houston, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.Teams have been reaching out with "real interest" in the four-time Pro Bowler, Rapoport adds.Houston has two seasons remaining on the six-year, $101-million megadeal he signed following an incredible 2014 campaign, during which his 22 sacks fell half a sack short of tying the single-season record.Injuries impacted his availability during the 2015 and 2016 campaigns as he made just 16 starts over that span. He's flashed the ability to make a significant impact when healthy, though, rebounding with 18.5 sacks in 27 games over the past two seasons. The 30-year-old has posted 78.5 sacks across an eight-year career spent entirely with the Chiefs.Dee Ford, who's expected to receive the franchise tag ahead of free agency, would likely be forced to do even more heavy lifting for the pass rush if Kansas City moves on from its longtime defensive star.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Nick Foles signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars?Antonio Brown landing with the San Francisco 49ers?Kyler Murray drafted by the New York Giants?Whether it's a free agent, a trade piece, or a draft-eligible youngster, we've already given our best recommendations for where certain players will start the 2019 season. Our latest case study is Le'Veon Bell, who will test the market after sitting out last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Here are our picks for his most likely destinations:New York Jets (+411)The Jets are our favorite to scoop Bell. They're one of the few teams that have both a clear need at running back and a Brinks truck they can back up to make the deal happen. The franchise has been quietly linked to Bell ever since his departure from Pittsburgh became likely during the 2018 season.New York has an influx of average talent in the backfield, but nobody that's going to wow you. Significantly upgrading that position would be a good first step for new head coach Adam Gase as he helps the Jets forge an offensive identity. It wouldn't make sense for New York to pluck a franchise quarterback in the first round of last year's draft and then not make an effort to build around him. The front office echoed that notion Wednesday. With a player of Bell's caliber on the market, it's time to put up or shut up.Houston Texans (+769)Most of the clubs projected to land Bell are rebuilding, with clear needs and a boatload of money. But if there's one way for the star to get paid playing for contending team, it's with the Texans. It's not a complete team by any stretch, but Houston has building blocks in place. It's just a matter of when the club truly wants to go for it.Addressing the running back position isn't a dire need. Lamar Miller is a fine player, but he also doesn't offer as much upside as Bell, especially in the passing game.If the Texans really want to take the next step and start separating from the rest of the AFC South, Bell would be a huge addition to take the offense from good to great.Could you imagine a trio of Deshaun Watson, Bell, and DeAndre Hopkins? That's scary stuff.Miami Dolphins (+819)The Dolphins have hurdles to clear before even having a shot at signing Bell. For starters, the Ryan Tannehill experiment needs to end. It was reported in early February that Miami wants to cut ties with the veteran quarterback, which would save the team more than $13 million in cap space. That would be a good start, as Bell will almost certainly seek a significantly lucrative deal after missing out on $14.5 million last season.Another weird angle to this saga is the report that Bell actually prefers to sign with the Dolphins. Perhaps there's a bias after spending his holdout there, or maybe he's enticed by the potential to boost his side hustle as a rap artist in a big-market city.Whatever the case, even the slightest link with a price better than +800 deserves some attention.Alex Kolodziej is theScore's betting writer. Jason Witten isn't done yet.The 15-year pro has ended his retirement after one year and is rejoining the Dallas Cowboys, the team announced on Thursday."The fire inside of me to compete and play this game is just burning too strong," Witten said in a statement. Both parties have agreed to a contract that will pay Witten a base salary of $3.5 million, and a max of $5 million for the 2019 season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. In 2017, Witten's most recent season before his brief retirement, the Cowboys posted a 9-7 record and missed the playoffs. He finished with 560 receiving yards on 63 catches with five touchdowns before hanging up his cleats to join ESPN's Monday Night Football as an analyst. The 11-time Pro Bowler then watched as his old team won a division title and made it to the divisional round."This team has a great group of rising young stars, and I want to help them make a run at a championship," Witten said. "This was completely my decision, and I am very comfortable with it. Kyler Murray's combine measurements generated buzz on Thursday, as the former Oklahoma quarterback passed the eye test and alleviated some concerns. He was measured at Lucas Oil Stadium and stands 5-foot-10 while weighing 207 lbs.Murray will still be the shortest starting quarterback in the NFL, however, but he wouldn't be the first successful passer to come up "short" on the scale. Here's how the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner's measurements compare to a few notable past and present signal-callers:QBHeightWeightRound selectedKyler Murray5-10 1/8207?Doug Flutie5-1018111Russell Wilson5-10 5/82043Johnny Manziel5-11 3/42071Drew Brees6-02132Michael Vick6-02161Case Keenum6-0 5/8208UndraftedBaker Mayfield6-0 5/82151Over the last 10 NFL drafts, 103 quarterbacks have been selected, including 30 in the first round. In that group, Johnny Manziel was the only first-round pivot to measure under 6-feet tall.Murray can be compared to Doug Flutie and Russell Wilson.Early in his career, Flutie often heard that he was too small. His success in the NFL and CFL, however, showed that he probably should have received a starting opportunity sooner. Meanwhile, Wilson has emerged as a top-tier QB after leading his team to a Super Bowl XLVIII win.Murray's hands also measured larger than expected at 9.5 inches - bigger than recent first-round picks Mitchell Trubisky and Baker Mayfield.Several current starting NFL quarterbacks matched Murray's hand measurements at the combine, including Matt Ryan, Andy Dalton, and Lamar Jackson.Copyright © 2019 Score Media Ventures Inc. Passing this test could potentially propel him to a top-five selection. The Heisman Trophy winner would be the shortest starting quarterback in the NFL. His weigh-in is comparable to that of Seattle Seahawks passer Russell Wilson, who stood 5-foot-10 and 5/8, 204 lbs at the 2012 combine. There were also concerns about Murray's hand size, as NFL teams ideally want their quarterbacks to measure over nine inches. Antonio Brown recently told fans that he believes quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has an "owner mentality" and feels as though he can criticize anyone on the team.Last week, Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert called Roethlisberger the team's unquestioned leader, adding, "he's got 52 kids under him quite honestly." Brown said that statement validates his concerns."He pretty much just explained what I already had told everyone. He just confirmed it. He confirmed everything I said," the receiver said to ESPN's Jeff Darlington in an interview that will air this weekend.Colbert has since tried to clarify his statement, all while maintaining Roethlisberger's role as the elder statesman."Of course he tried to clarify because, you know, he stated the truth and he's going to backpedal on his words. But what grown man is calling another grown man a kid? 'Fifty-two kids.' Like, you don't have no respect for these guys?" Brown said. "Like these are the guys that go to work for you. And that's what I'm telling you guys ... that's my issue. You know what I'm saying? It's all about respect."Brown requested a trade from Pittsburgh and the Steelers said they intend to deal the four-time All-Pro if they receive reasonable compensation. The Steelers will hold on to Brown if necessary, however. That doesn't appear to be something the wideout would be thrilled about."Things (are) not getting better. They're not changing. You know what I mean? He just stated it. Bettors might be paying a bit more attention to 40-yard dashes and bench press repetitions later this week at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine.Prop bets are available to wager on as college prospects prepare for their workouts leading up to the NFL draft in April - Wonderlic test scores, three-cone times, you name it.Here are our favorite bets:Josh Jacobs: Over 4.5 seconds best 40-yard dash (-120)A three-headed monster in the Alabama backfield last season featured a late surge by Jacobs, who could very well be the first player at his position taken off the board this spring. Jacobs might be limited in this drill, however, as reports surfaced Monday that the running back is dealing with a groin injury. Though it isn't considered a serious setback, it might restrict his mobility and dock a few tenths of a second on his 40.Parris Campbell: Record fastest WR 40-yard dash (+125)"You just want to get this guy the ball in space so he can make a play." It's an old adage that Campbell gave analysts an excuse to use every Saturday during his Ohio State career. His skill set as an overall receiver at the next level begs some questions, but his speed does not. We won't overplay the revenge angle here, but Campbell was displeased when he was left off a 2018 preseason list of fastest players in the country. With his ability to run a hand-timed 4.26, this is the chance to show off his best trait.DK Metcalf: Under 4.5 seconds best 40-yard dash (-115)A.J. Brown looked like the consensus No. 1 draft-eligible wide receiver in the class prior to the 2018 season. Two months out and he's not even the top product to be coming out of his program. That would be Metcalf, the Ole Miss star whose season ended prematurely following a neck injury. Don't let the 6-foot-4, 230-pound frame you; Metcalf is deceptively fast and can eat up space in a hurry. He's been timed in the mid-4.4s and should draw rave reviews during the combine for his freakish athleticism.Elijah Holyfield: Over 22.5 bench press reps (-115)Only four running backs at last year's combine put up more than 22 reps on the bench press in a group that averaged 17.1 over 29 participants. Holyfield figures to be one of those outliers this week. The Georgia product - who's also the son of former boxer Evander - is physically tantalizing. Much like Campbell's speed, Holyfield's strength won't be questioned this week.Kendall Sheffield: Record fastest 40-yard dash (+120)Sheffield might not flirt with John Ross's record time of 4.22 set in 2016, but the Buckeyes cornerback is the current chalk to blow away his position group with his 40 time. He was voted by some as the fastest player in college prior to 2018 and broke OSU's record in the 60-meter indoor dash. Instead of taking him to run the fastest time of any cornerback, pick him to lead the entire pack at plus-money.Alex Kolodziej is theScore's betting writer.
